Can we talk about bash bars?

Hey guys.

 

I need some ideas or mostly just pictures of how you guys did your bash bars.

 

What pipe benders did you use? MIG or TIG? I just am looking to brainstorm some ideas. I've pretty much only seen Keith's and Jordan Lynchs.

 

 

I'm gonna get going on this now that I have my body kit coming in. Post lots of pics.

These are rad. Not sure if i should run one on the IS. Really want to make one with a jacking point for ease of maintenance.

I noticed that with my mx83, there really are no jack points besides the diff in the rear, and the subframe in the front.. I really want to weld jack points when I get my cage done.

Living in basically southern canada in a place that uses so much god damn salt we have literal tons and tons of it mounded in like 30 places per city, I say; "What pinch welds?"

I'll be doing bash bars for sure. Especially after seeing what was saved on Jordan's car after the wall at Final Bout (SR miata).

 

That car would have had CR01 up in the manifold had it not been for his bash bars.

I guess my only question is in conjunction with the rollers, the higher and farther apart they are the wider the bend?

because pipe and tubing are different things

 

the dies for that bender are in nominal pipe sizes so they're not the right size for roll cage tubing.

maybe you can find dies that will work in that bender, or modify it?

quick tip:

 

stock up on old cardboard tubes from paper towels, tear em into the spiral (along the seam) and slip over one or two layers till you fit the die tightly

 

works great for jeep crap, should help with yer crap

just picked up 40ft of 1 1/2 tubing, interested in seeing how you guys built/bent your bars.

It's getting there.

I'm going to gusset and or dimple the corners where it has a slight crease. Obviously the ends still need to be trimmed.


Idk, hate away. I just hate the "if you don't know how take it to someone else" mentality where people don't even build their own cars.
