Well, all is well now. ICBC (the stupid mandatory insurance provider we have in BC...) approved the fix so I get all the money back, including the corner light upgrade. I like it because it makes it seem a bit more modern. FMIC to come soon. Didn't want to install it before the inspector went over it, to make sure they didn't think I was trying to charge them for that. Hopefully I will get around to installing that this weekend.

Went to S9, saw some cool cars, took one photo, and said hi to Tore. Have yet to install my FMIC because I'm a lazy shit. One day, maybe. Thing drives and is fun, so I'm happy though.

X100 looks awesome Nathan! Glad you made the drive out even in the horrible rain we had that day.

I really like the kit on your 100! Much cooler to see something different than the same ol' shit. Sorry about your luck with other drivers. Scares me most about wanting to buy a 100 when they are legal.

Paging Gordon and other people who know whats up with diffs: Got a line on a FRS LSD diff (whole shebang drops into JZX100 auto rear supposedly) for a reasonable price. I think auto JZX100 Tourer V ratio is 3.91, FRS is 4.1. With my mkiii W58, how stupid will this be?

Love the T2 Torsen (what the brz/frs has).

I've been running 4.56 gear with the auto, which had about the same top ratio as the W, and had more top end than any of you guys, and still knocked down 22 mpg on the freeway.

Now I know that the JZs are somewhat rpm limited, but 4.1 is not that much different than 3.9s.

But if you really think you have enough power to pull red-line with the 3.9s, just put them in, or put the Torsen into your housing & gears.

Keep in mind, deeper gear put less shock on the questionable strength W58.

If you stumble onto another brz/frs helical for a good price, let me know.

I'd like to start building a second diff, as my new trans has a really low ratio 6th gear.

if u get it, will it sit in the corner somewhere? blows me away you havent put the front mount in yet amd thats a skill level 1 vs the skill level 4 of a diff

Eh, it has nothing to do with skill level and everything to do with constantly working 7 day, 60 hr+ weeks (and no OT pay or banking of hours, but my salary is tax free, so I guess there is that (thanks Canadian gov't)). My career is number one priority right now and things are looking good. That being said, I do post here so people like you will help me stay motivated with this car. FMIC should be on by the end of the week and I'm not picking the diff up until October. The guy I'm buying it off is going to help me chuck it in because he is a fellow X100 bro, so that should prevent me from just chucking it in a corner hopefully.

And Gordon, I will keep my eyes and ears open, but I think shipping across the border would probably be ludicrous for a diff?

I forgot you lived in Northern Wisconsin (Canada).

im not mean to be mean. im mean to be motivation.

i think

take it from me...a collector of ideas and items and has no where to put anything. going from a 3.9 to a 4.1 will be an ok jump, but not much to write home about..just a tad more pep in your step. i went from a 3.7 to a 4.3 in the supra and that really woke it up.

Didn't remove charcoal canister lower drip tank, had a clash and everything was rubbing when I turned. Read the instructors again, removed tank and now it's all good 👌. LSD to come soon hopefully!

Small update, sold the cressida. Taking so much effort to convince myself to not drop a pile more cash into the Chaser now. Still gotta get around to putting the LSD in it too.

U sell to mainland or islander?

Glad to see that one go. Chaser looks better by far and wide. Now to buy wheels that fit this thing ya? No spacers, no 12s?

Albertan actually. I might just rebuild the weds to a better spec...I'm tempted to be dumb and buy dream wheels, but I shouldn't because I'm technically still a broke-ass student 😕

I wasted a shit ton of money on my cars while I was in college. Every extra penny. Within reason make some financially smart decisions when you need to, but don’t forget to be an idiot and spend frivolous money because you’re not going to have fun memories of the money you saved and the shit you deprived yourself of when you were younger.

Yea, it definitely is a balance. I feel like having cars as a hobby is a struggle, but it gives me something to care about other than work and school and helps me get through it. Especially since I've decided to be in school for at least 9 years....but, no more additional cars until I can cash out on the jzx100 to someone in the states in 2020, which should coincide with me getting a real(er) job and then I can build something not half-assed for once.

96 model year, built in 95. I assumed USA import goes by build date not model year? To be honest though, I'd hate to sell it to someone here, since realistically I'd want to overcharge some fanboy I don't know or care about.

Yeah it goes by build date so you're correct it would be eligible for import 25 years from build date.

Yeah, my goal is to get a 100 to sit alongside my x8, but I know there will be a lot of unnecessary price gouging going on once they are legal. I can't be mad; I can respect the hustle. I personally find it difficult to justify $15-20k for a 25+ year old car that was rode hard and put away wet. Not saying there aren't JDM fags in California that won't pay exorbitant amounts of money for clapped out RHD cars, but I can't be one lol.

For years I kept thinking I should buy a 100 up in canada and store it/let my buddy Paul take care of it for me until it was legal here (save myself on the mark up tax). Then Paul and his lady moved to the Island and that has it's own set of hurdles so my idea dropped out.

I guess I should hit up DJhall and ask him if he has space at his place in BC....hmmmmm.....
