Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2014 thoughts on mad tyte hard parking of IC?see how nice my turbo location ends up without that fucking filter?(the merge behind the air filter airdamn is balanced on top of the filter)im going to hack away at the hood latch/upper core support some more, briefly considered some cheap ricerzone hood pins...then going complete tubular before logic won out and im keeping a sliver of toyota tin...waitinng on ps cooler for finalizing but i think i know how my radiator mounts are gonna end up...im sorta liking the angled IC as it puts more of it below the bumper...i sorta dig the "is that thing falling off?" vibe it would lend.... Gordo 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2014 I vote for #1 JZXP Most hacked/cobbled car. Now just go to Harwood, and buy some of that fake rust paint that the rat rod guys use, would make a nice finishing touch. Just stay away from any 2JZ turbo cars, they will probbably hand your ass to you.

Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2014 nearly finished with my remote filter/cooler manifold....all the passages and bolt holes are done.only things left to do on it are to counterbore the recessed bolt holes larger (my sample bolt i grabbed has a smaller head than any other i can find...fuck)i need to thread the face ports for the AN fittings, and i also need to drill and thread the passage for the oil pressure sender and the turbo feed...i may put the pressure sensor on the remote ford filter mount to keep it away from the heat.the turbo feed i may put on the side but i like the way it would route if it put it on top facing forward... plus it would be about 12" long.anyways onto the racecarparts pr0n you can see the passage for the oil pressure relief valve, pretty sure im going with straight fittings with 90* hose ends instead of the hard bend of that 90 i do have a bit of blending at the two oil passage intersections but thats not much

Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2014 see I knew yew weren't an idiot...yes that's what we call a rectangle, a square has four equal sides....gold star fer ya! lol yeah at this point im still working on where and what direction I want the turbo oil feed fitting before I go whittling away the excess aluminum. this things blueprint was drawn on a white scott towel

Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 she was in a dem tits, dat ass thread from my local forum...i sorta dig the pinup broads robot dick? the turbo support is to allow the pipes to expand and move while keeping the weight off em. the pipes and turbine inlet merge could move around as much as 3/4" from cold to hot. i sorta went overboard. well i got more done on the oil manifold.... figured out where i want the turbo oil feed, machined away portions to clear the block and timing cover...little more to go before i can install it and get on towards the secondary pipes. gotta spend another 380$ at summit here in the next day or two....fuuuuu
Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2014 god dammit why is it so hard to figure out where to position shit?!? i did a mockup with the IC up high and the trans and PS cooelrs down low and imediatly nixed it as it looked too much like all thosedamn cars with the oil cooler out front. been busy but ive gotten a few things figured out...id bore you with pictures but everything fell nearly puncturing my new radiator 1/4" threaded rod wasnt the best way to prop up the IC up near the latch... Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2014 i sorta made a left turn at Albuquerque in terms of hacking this thing together....coming together as far as getting final measurements for the coolant necks/hose and mounting the rad to the car...still trying to figure out exactly how i want to secure it... at this point im leaning towards a thick ribbon of rtv on the bottom of the radiator and "glue" it to the core support....then just 2 bolts up top...i figure whenever i have to rip it out the rtv will tear and it'll always sit back the way it was...i finally know fer sure that it'll clear the hood latch...just.fucking.barely. Gordo 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2014 At least you are not delusional - "hacking this thing together". But why not, a lot of aerospace shit is stuck together with silicone. Hell, one of my oval track bikes was held together with duct tape, because mounting things like the air box, rear fender, and battery box with tape was lighter than welded tabs with bolts. Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2014 like anyone really cares about this heap.... maybe... ok so first an idea of what im working with.this is the space i have to work with...it has to fit the lower hose, PS lines, trans cooler lines, oil filter/cooler lines, a fan, and a hot as fuck 2.25" crossover pipe with an expansion joint....all while making it so i can service it on the side of the road...now you can see why i had to move the radiator forward and down as much as possible.so along with going to the smaller dia pipe i went with as thin of a fan as i could find that still pulls 2000cfm...then i made a fan shroud/mount.so far I've built it as a cooling module that would require removal of the lines and id be able to yank the whole assembly out with 2 bolts...anyways enough of my ramblings...onto sexytimejust barely enough room
Bill 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2014 I'm secretly into updates in here.
Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2014 thanks bill i sorta expected more hate with the 3800jz fan cover anyways onto some updates. with the new fan mount and final trimming im now able to install the bumper. i cant move it over as far as i wanted to unless i hack off the corner of the battery tray to clear the fan. the reality is that im fighting for 3/16ths of an inch at most so i may forgo hacking it to use it as the side radiator mount since my upper core support is a thin flimsy piece of jap tin. at this point im heavily considering deleting two bolts on the bumper since i use them to hold my lower core support up to the frame horns. im sure the front bolts and the rear bolts (the slip-in bolt hole) will be plenty...maybe probably bolting the filter to the drivers side of the K member. cant wait for mockup with the remote filter finally installed. i will finally be able to put the turbo where i want it. i keep thinking i should just move the radiator/core support another 1/4" down...still kinda liking the angled IC...shit i cant decide yet. i will space the bumper forward about a 1/4" as the the limit of the bumper cover adjustment slots and should pull the bumper a bit tighter..my hope is that i wont have to trim a crapload off the cover i ended up gaining 3/4" over the former jy radiator/fan. not bad for how much room i gained around the turbo with the thicker radiator. now i get to finish all the little bullshit while i save the rest of the dough for the new 2.25" pipes/expansion joint. the nearly 2 inches i gained from the narrower radiator as well as the remote filter, will now make the WG plumbing sooo much easier since it will get its own merge off the secondary's. only real option for its discharge is straight down next to the radiator and kicked rearward behind the lower core support. ill have to see how things fit as i go...im off to get a few serp belts since i now have PS lines. i hate this thing
Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2015 well i've been farting with this thing on and off for a while now...its my filler work when i cant move forward on any other projects. ive tried to mockup everything on this turd, try and minimize headaches for me down the road. still had to redo my PS hardlines and trans cooler routing. yay new HP ps hose now routs next to and under the block to join to the gearbox hardline behind the alternator. trying to decide if i want to redo the trans cooler hoses with armor tubes all the way to the drivers side till everything's out of the rotating assembly damageable area's. probably overboard but ive got a much better 95 talldeck L67 longblock so i dont mind trying to shred this one. i wont bore you with too many words but i finally blew 300 at summit for another Vband and an interlocking flex as well as all new 2.25" secondary U's in both 6" and 3.5" radius. trying to use all large but there's at least one area i might have to use the tighter bend. much more room for the lower radiator hose with the PS lines rerouted. i might actually be able to work on it with just removal of the battery...maybe. the new oil manifold gives me the joy of plenty of room for my gate and dump. and the PS cooler hardline should let me do a cheaper and simpler hardline to the cooler and leave the braided stainless for the trans cooler. im still thinking of mounting the intercooler at that oddball angle...its actually slightly better for the inlet/outlet pipe routing/angles now that my turbo is in a better spot...and i still like the idea of people wondering if my IC is about to fall off... meh, enjoy the pics
Gordo 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2015 I was wondering about you the other day, if you had died in the thing, or just given up so we could be rid of you. (just kidding) What 'ambition' pills do you take to continue on ? I may need some...........
Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2015 i was repairing the sink drain that some fucktard rinsed grease into and it congealed...when i found an old rock in a bag on a silver tray tucked on top of the front support. the road to ambition had quite a few bumps
Turbocharged400sbc 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2015 i almost cracked my compressor cover as the turbo slid off the blocks i was holding it in place with...thankfully quick thinking and 4 of my right toes softened its landing. this is probably the single best demonstration of how little this car likes me. i also sorta went stupid and recently acquired a crown royal bag to solve my B&M shifter /console issue....the brown and gold bag from the maple CR version....actually looks like it'll match my interior fairly well, and give a slight hint of ricer. lets see if i can make it work...6$ is way cheaper than the B&M boot
