bradlee 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 last time i saw a car with those "JDM" front bumper fasteners, my girlfriend asked if the owner was using hair ties.
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 FUCK YES JDM BUMPER FASTENERS hahaha I think Iv only seen them called that on eBay
Gordo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 Na, that crap is all over the internet. I call the ones attached to actual fiberglass bodywork 'steal my body parts' fasteners. The ones that people put on stock bodywork are 'calling all stray faggots' fasteners.
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 Haha I like the second one the best. I plan on using he quick latch minis to secure my front and rear bumpers I'm mor stoked about these then some of the bigger stuff I'm doin haha
Gordo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 Besides being overly fucking expensive, I want to see how well those on the bottom work after a few weeks of road crap works it's way into them. Â Why not dzus fasteners ? Used on race cars around the world. Dirt cheap. Proven product. Won't lock up with even the most severe road dirt. And many different head styles. Â http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=&_mqf=0&_osacat=107057&_qfkw=1&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1311.R8.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xdz.TRS0&_nkw=dzus&_sacat=107057 Â Every speed shop in the US has them. ChriSOL 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 dzus are great because if you do break one theyre fast and cheap to replace. you can use a dzus tool or if you dont have one handy a flathead, bottle opener, quarter, whatever.
Gordo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 They also come with wings (like a wing nut), and with a hex hole for using with an allen wrench. Places like Speedway Motors have the heads in steel, plated steel, aluminum, and plastic. Ready made mounting plates, and fiberglass top reinforcing plates also standard items. Â They are so cheap, that you can buy a few extra to practice installing on some scrap, so you don't fuck up your good stuff.
Gordo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 Dzus was bought out by Suthco, this pdf file is from their sight: http://www.southco.com/static/Literature/D4.en.pdf
Dirty_Rotor 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2015 I have no Idea about the ride quality as Ive never drivin my car thats why Im curious as well lol  I assume it will ride amazing
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2015 I don't think road grime and dirt would get in there with them fastened though? They seem pretty well sealed inside where the ball is. Yes I wouldn't use them on the bottom like thay, but on the sides of the rear and front bumpers I think they would be very cool.
cliffmeister 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2015 On a side note, I'm really liking those mesh wheels
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2015 Well this is my leading wheel angle, it seems way excessive (lol pun) I feel like it's over centering. this is with arms pulled all the way in so stock x8 arm length I believe? And full camber pulled in up top. With zero Ackerman knuckles (I think). I'm going to need longer inner tie rods because mine were cut for extensions in the past. I've read ae92 Inners are same pitch and are longer then oem.
Austin 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 I havethequick latch on my car. Work awesome. Dzus blow. The retaining clips bend, they never want to lign up right, and i havent seen any on real deal pro level race cars outside of nascar in years. Almost everybody has switched to a different form Of latch system
Kyle 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 While you're there spending time, properly relocate those fender well harnesses
tuner4life 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 Ae92 inners are the same but longer than X8 inners. Awesome angle you've got there though! Probably will be a bit less than that once the car is on the ground and the tire hits the wheel well.
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 Austin you have the minis or the hood latches to? I want the hood latches but there so effing expensive. Also Kyle Iv relocated the passenger still have to do driver. Yes fender well clearance is an issue for sure, once I get the car driving its goin to my fabricating buddies place to get some cool ideas Iv had floating around, also fender well clearance will be addressed. RickyFromThePark 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 The locking aero hood latches are sweet, I had a set on my other car. They weren't too expensive, 80 or something like that iirc
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2015 The aerocatch or whatever ones? I like those a lot those are my second choice but in talking about the quick latch hood latches there just bit versions of those minis but like 250$
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2015 So not a whole lot done lately, I got a puppy that's been taking a lot of time. He's cute but a little fucking devil sometimes In other news I traded my sc for this 98 gs300 145k, Godspeed coils 19 tsw wheels. Super clean grey interior ect totally came out on top on this real we straight traded too. I was only into the sc 3300 bucks. Also found a bargen basket find last night work xsc o2c 18x10 +15 pair for 400 fucking dollars
Tbone 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2015 Awesome trade for the gs.Time to buy some black magician wide body. Those wheels are a sweet find.im jealous lol. That new dog you have looks like he can be a fucker. My gf's dog drives me fucking nuts sometimes lol.
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2015 Hes a blue heeler/Aussie so he's got fucker In his blood but super smart. And yea super stoked to get in a chassis I actually like the sc was like a filler car to me to hold me over til I could get my hands on something I really want. Never heard of that widebody? Yea I was in shock about the wheels, local too which is crazy for Colorado. The kid Needed rent money so i was able to talk him down to 400 from 600. Funny thing is I pronabbly would have bought them anyways.
NAC 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2015 Please don't do Black Magician...its crazy expensive. Looks ok though... Â Â Not worth 2x as much as, say, the S9 fenders (which I think look better...)
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2015 Word okay now I know the kit, that kit is fucking hard but I'm sure so much money. Yea s9 or the 4door Heros kit would be my choices if I go that route. Previous owner completely shaved rear fenders flat so rolling will be tough, may just do wide wheels and mad cambe under stock body for The time being. Until I want to do overs. I do want to boost it though.
Tbone 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2015 S9 breed fenders and csl style trunk are fucking dope, and i was going to mention them but i figured you already knew about those overs. The price is fucking insanely awesome. I'm just such a black magician fanboi. The price is fucking stupid expensive. I'm with you on some neg camber and stock body.Simple, clean, and looks killer.
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2015 Yea definitely want the trunk regardless! And then s9 arms front and rear and some big wheels and il be set for a while. I have a hankering to build one of these to drift but that would be down the road.
