TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 So for those who haven't seen my "horrible" intro. I recently traded my sr s13 for a 1j x8. Here's how the coupe sat before I traded. the cressida had some shitty spec works and some gay sc reps so I had him keep the sc reps and put my xxrs on here's how it sat when I first got it I got a oem grill to replace that spray painted peice of shit. Replaced a foggy cracked headlight lens with a fresh one. I also sold off my 18s on the car and picked up some 17s. at this point my plan was still to go with the serial nine type 1 aero With this chassis being so foreign to me I was constantly doing research ( which is how I found jzxp) and was going through different looks and setups with the car. I immediately got hooked on the super low/ small wheel combo. I also noticed no one really does that with the x8s out here. I knew right away I wanted to try this look so I ditched the idea for the type 1 aero and moved my focus towards the type 2 that G is finishing up. I put a deposit on that kit so il get one from the first batch. I was trying to decide between 15s or 16s and I settled on 16s since I was going to have a kit, 15s would just put me too low, there more of a stock body look. I was originally going to save up for these Works. I soon realized how much longer it would take to get the wheels and everything else I need by summer, and itching to drive as bad as I am I couldn't wait. So I ditched the idea for the works, for now that is and decided on my second choice. Good o'l Mickey T's classic II I know what your thinking kinda of gay" right? Now without the dildo center cap bullshit I plan on running 16x10 -27 all around. I also finally got my rocket bunny wing I ordered for my s13 like 3 months prior to trading. I'm glad it took so long now because it's definently going on the cressida with some minor trimming and adjustments I most recently pulled all the dash to redo the wiring underneath, which was about to catch fire if I drove the thing anymore then I did. Redid all the gauge wiring. It looked like it was done by a child and I'm currently working on a fiberglass gauge panel. The gauge panel I also took this opportunity to paint the dash and door cards ect. That navy blue was making want to trash the dash all together. End result came out pretty good. Also picked up a center console off eBay that I painted black The god damn lid didn't come with the center console so luckily in the drunken/ high state I was in I fabbed up an old Fc lid to it. It actually kinda worked The car had no dash lights, tail lights, headlights ect the list goes on so I took off the driver fender to reveal the worst cleanup job of a mutilated fender harness I had ever seen. Sadly I don't have a pic but he basically ripped through every single wire( yes every single wire...) and taped them back up. but he ran the tape inbetween each wire as he taped them all together in a horrible attempt to get them not to short on each other. Which obviously failed so a few fuses and hours worth of soldering time later I have dash lights head and tail lights plate lights. I have everything but turn signals and spedo which I don't really care about. I recently purchased an excessive seat bracket to get rid of the fucked up, home made, off center one that's in there currently. I think that's it for now I'm sick of writing. I want to apologize first hand for the many grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes you probably just read.
Okidriftjr 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 I see your getting stuff done. I know I am not much of a pro when it comes to fabbing up shit myself, but damn you have a lot of work ahead of you to fix this cluster fuck. Piece of advice, Ditch the S chassis mindset. These are big boys cars.
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 What if a "big boy" drives an s13? And my new mounts arrived today to fix the gangster lean my motors pullin right now

TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 I actually really like the wheels I have ever since i saw that s14, and yea iv heard they weigh a ton but that's not really a concern of mine I'm not really goin for any kind of a functional setup lol. There's a few other wheels I like, but I like the look and specs of these
zombieslider 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Are you gonna paint the car another color?
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Are you gonna paint the car another color? Yea definently haha this baby blue ain't cuttin it. I don't know why someone would ever pick this color on this car lol, I may vinyl wrap it to try to save money but regardless, yes. By summer it will be a different color
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 how bout corvette blades? wide and not too big! good luck with the build, lets get the x game going in colorado The vette wheels are alright my buddy had some saw blades on his wrx with conversion spacers. There no where near aggressive enough for me I'm looking for crazy negative offsets
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 I also got some lca bushings, Gordo I got these from you I think haha. And painted my spark plug cover and timing cover black in an attempt to de-Barney the engine bay. And just to piss off some of you I added some 240 gay boy sparkle clear to them
TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Here's an example of some of the wonders I'm finding on this car. That's the battery cable, for one he ran it along the underside of the car which isn't horrible but I hate doing that, in that pic you can see the cable as it comes down the inside of the passenger fender it goes around the "sharp" pinch weld and it's pulled tightly back up to the bottom of the chassis, in an attempt to not tear through the wire they put a peice of rubber right there. Which was about to split in half. Cooooooool. Seems a lot of the things I'm finding are the "quick put it together so I can drive" type fixes that work for the moment and not for the long run. Gordo 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Yup, those were from me. About the only Armstrong poly bushings that actually fit, that I added OEM inner sleeves to because the Armstrong crap was so cheezy.

Gordo 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 I have a box full of that stuff, had bought 2 cars worth. I think the rear tension rod bushing fit too, butNone of the other crap did. For some reason they think the X8 is identical to one of the Lexus. In fact, they called me a couple of days ago, asking why I hadn't bought any more, and I told them very bluntly why not. They want me to send pictures, so maybe they can figure out what's wrong, and I said, sure. But problem is that I have already sent them pictures of the problems, and a year late they are still selling the shit that doesn't fit ! So I am like, why go through the fucking trouble with these idiots.......

Gordo 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Hey, the next time you see something on eBitch of mine, just contact me direct, as they get about 14% of anything up there. I'll look around, to see if by chance the one missing bushing half rolled under something. I don't remember tossing it, but I did just have a bunch of scrap hauled off. TheDonBastard 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Hey iv been wondering if I should pull and replace my subframe and diff bushings? There not noticeably worn, but is it that good of an upgrade over stock bushings? Or not really worth it at the moment?
Gordo 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Solid, or even poly subframe bushings make a fucking world of difference. With stock, even not worn out, the whole subframe moves around, and makes the car twitchy. I used to have poly, that I had cut down from Mk3 Suckera, that worked great, but ended up with a set of serialnine from Kyle, that are installed now. Not sure if XM's are poly, or not, but they also make some. And if you are planning any clutch dumps, or other agressive applications of power, do solid diff mounts, and.......... Weld some more steel into the subframe, thread about it all over here, and in my build thread. Or not, but plan on buying another subframe down the line when yours cracks.
