Demesio 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2013 Hey guys, so its been a while since I've updated on my build or anything like it so here's what has been going on. After my red cressida got rear ended in the great socal asshole traffic one fine morning, everything went downhill. I fought the insurance from salvaging the title, and i prepared for the worst by buying another BHG special. Luckily i won and got to keep the car, they gave me 1400 to fix the damages so i came up on that, since the spare cressida was only 600 bucks. unfortunately one day while my gf was following me home at night, she noticed my lights flickering all weird n stuff. It eventually got worse and was messing with all my lights, so I decided then to swap everything over to my new chassis rather than diag the problem. So as all this happened, I got my gf a job where i work (we dont live together, and its not as bad as it seems, our company is pretty big and i hardly see her) so I had the chance to carpool with her. At that point i decided to partially nut up and do bad ass shit.. So i picked up CelicaDrifter's old running 7m super cheap and tossed it in the red cressida, and sold the red cressida. Then i also sold the broken 7M off the white cressida too!(gotta love stupid people!) From then on i focused on my 2j, The plan was to go turbo on USDM GTE electronics. So thinking im a badass, I went ahead and got a harness and cut it all apart. I installed some 7mgte 440s and got to starting For those of you who dont know, If you plan on doing this, USE 2JZGE VVTi COILS! unless you plan on using a FFIM, that of which i was not so there was the first bump on the road... Lucky for me, being a machinist i made it work Made it all pretty.. did some preventative maintenance, new cam seals, re-sealed the oil pan, new plugs and stuff like that Then i got on to turbo manifold fitment, i got a t4 manifold china crap for cheap, and i've got a fresh holset going in i had to convert it to T3 so i had a local shop tig the flange and clock it properly and ended up with this So as this far in, i decided to BAR the swap and put all the turbo stuff on hold. I did the very last bit of checking on the wires and then moved on to the trans Everything was smooth to this point and dropped the engine in... Here's where things got interesting, after days of wiring up the car and ecu into the harness, i finally got to go ahead and crank the damn thing... and as life had started go downhill... so did the cressida. At the first crank, we realized something was wrong, it sounded horrible, so we took the timing cover off to check timing and found something unimaginable... My dam Intake cam snapped! at this point of frustration i was hating this car, not understanding what went wrong, i just left the car to sit untouched for a week till my brothers got together and bitched me out about losing to a car, so i got back on and picked up another cam at the junk yard and started the teardown of the already put together car this is what i found... At some point a clamp from the hose that goes into the back of the head, fell in under the cam and remained there the whole time... luckily nothing else was bent or broken, only the timing belt got stretched out.. so back again, i placed everything back and went on about trying to start it. After a week of not knowing why it wouldnt start up.. i realized that while drinking and working on the car, i mixed the fuel feed and return lines, like a dumbass. From there i got stuck at idle and couldn't do much anything else. I eventually got help for wiring master Mark Panic which helped me realize that i had wired the TPS wrong. which lead me to believe i wired the MAP sensor wrong too... Because of this the car did rev up but only to 4k, the car had gone into limp mode running nearly at 7:1 AFRs (because the MAP was actually right to begin with) eventually i figured that out and fixed the MAP sensor, then everything went back to normal at idle, now the car would fall on its face if i would try to accelerate (completely lean out) here's where i felt stupid(more so than all of the previous problems) like i had mentioned earlier i was running the USDM ECU because i wanted to BAR the swap, hence functioning EGR and all that crap. The 440cc injectors couldn't work with the ECU that runs on 550cc injectors Fortunately, I had bought a JDM ecu and mad it all work just the day before Toyota Fest. So without any test driving i set out to the show, car ran slightly rich at idle because of the IAT that i hadn't installed, but none the less, i made it just fine, there and back. so how slowly but surely i have been fixing all the kinks without any rushing n such, car runs great with the IAT in pace now, Car runs super smooth, great power band, even without the turbo still. This Wednesday i have an appointment with the Bureau of Automotive Repairs to get my swap Legalized Had people tripping out on my distributor without any plugs There is plenty more stuff that im missing, and will add up on this thing soon enough
Demesio 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2013 For those of you who want to be cheap and go buy a 2jzge, in the long run you will spend more money than just starting off with a 2jzgte... NA-T POWER!!!!

Austin 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 Nice dude, didnt know if you'd ever get to the running turbo car point. Glad you did though. How much boost? And which holset.
Demesio 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 After loosing the red car and getting a reliable daily, i realized i didnt like being broke all the time. I slowed down and took my time acquiring all this crap and comfortably finishing it. the car is on bc coilovers, ls400 brakes, on some meaty potenzas as for the turbo, its a hx35 with a tial 44mm knock off that kyle gave me 2 years ago, its pushing about 10 psi kicking in at 3200.. with afrs around 10.5:1 the only problem im having/had since i went gte electronics is this.. no idea why... at around :50 seconds in, i hit the actual rev limiter :/ -timing is on point -tach is correct dont really know what to look into aside from everything else this car is exceptionally quiet and civilized... until the wastegate opens up, then the shit gets real haha

Austin 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 Are you running a resistor pack with those injectors?
DiscoShit 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 If you keeping the ssqv at least remove the wistle tip. That sound is gonna get to you.

Demesio 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2014 alright, so after so fucking long i've got my car back and running. soon after having my car be all badass and turbo running, my older brother blew two pistons on his 7m and needed some help asap. I sold him my 2jzge setup without my awesome turbo parts... so in about two weekends i pulled my engine and his, made him a stupid 2jzge harness and got his ass back on the road. his shit is 100% smog legal and bullet proof now. with the money that he gave me for my setup, which was wayy not enough. i built another 2jzge that i had sitting in my backyard i jew'd some kid from 200 to 80 bucks for it hahaha i went wiseco .020 over and lowered the compression, the IE doesnt have sufficient E85 pumps for me to keep it high :/ also got all ARP hardware and some eagle rods tt headgasket and all that good stuff spent a little time getting it all pretty and came out like this and like usual working on cars i had a pry bar slip and knocked my knuckle into a sharp edge if any of you dont know about super glue... that shit works wonders, it healed in about a 2 weeks so all and all i deleted all the stupid ge stuff and made it much cleaner... here's a before and after and just this weekend i got it back running, needs a little bit of fixes here and there still but it is amazing! Tbone 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2014 You chop the roof on this thing?? If so I hope you caged your car.Not for safety reasons but for structural integrity. Chopped roof+no cage=doors not closing properly and scrapped vehicle within 2 weeks. For real. You're going to twist the living shit out of this thing with that sweet new power plant you have in there.Sounds fucking amazing. But what a waste to do all that engine work and then have the rest of your car fall apart. Demesio 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2014 That was an "oh fuck".. the gopro case muffled the sound, the car is just insanely loud, at least for me it is Shitty cali gas :/ and the closest e85 station is about 30min from my house.. one way, not factoring traffic
