Bosch is nice as an external. I use it on my corolla with a sumped tank. I bought the xrp fitting to retain the one way valve banjo bolt,Nice piece.

I need to add some of the old crap here, since I think some members were not even of driving age when some of this was done.

So here is the text from the now defunct Modified Mag Reader's Rides, with most updates:

 

Engine:
(updated Feb, 2012)
Fully built 7MGE
9500 RPM red line.
TRD cams, 274 x 10.8 intake x 274 x 10.8 Exhaust.
TODA Shim-under-bucket set (30% lighter than stock).

Comp Cams 975 springs.
1mm oversize SS valves.
Ported, valve bowls bored to match larger valves.
Group-A spec. combustion chambers.
Custom JE 12:1 pistons on Crower rods,
and Precision Products titanium wrist pins.
Pistons are fully coated, ceramic domes, moly/teflon skirts.
Head and block both cut .020" to bring the compression up to 12:1.
Combustion chambers, valves & exhaust ports all ceramic coated.
HKS old school adjustable cam gears.
GReddy timing belt.
FET 1mm metal head gasket.
Doweled 7M crank
(had to dowel pin this beast, kept ripping the flex plate off the crank with my 8500 rpm shift points when it had an auto).
Clevite-77 bearings.
Balanced.
Custom 7 qt pan with swing door & crank scraper.
Custom 15% oil pump speed-up drive.
Remote oil filter.
Derale oil cooler.
Modified JDM NA Supra manifold,
with Modified BBK 70mm throttle body.
But soon to be 50mm ITBs.
SARD fuel pressure regulator.
K&N 9" cone filter inside custom filter housing.
Pacesetter modified headers, coated by HPC,
with full 80mm SS exhaust.
Exhaust crankcase evacuation system.
Derale dual electric fan.
Kazama Fail-proof engine mounts.
ATI crank dampener.
CSR electric water pump on custom 7M adaptor plate.

Countershaft converted to full ball/roller bearings.

Drive train:
Custom built W58 with close ratio 5th gear.
AP Racing twin disk 7.25" clutch on 8 pound flywheel.
W58 trans with C'c short stroke shifter.
Driveshaft Shop custom 1-piece drive shaft.
Diff:
Street & Road Course - JDM helical LSD (Torsen) & 4.56 gear set.
I originally had this gear set for the strip,
but it feels so good on the street that they are straying in.

I now use 5.3s at the strip.

Electronics:
AEM Infinity-6

Crane Hi-6 ignition box.
Mallory 28880 CD coil (labled 'Lethal Voltage)
ACCEL 300+ 8.8mm plug wires.
ACCEL Tach Adaptor
HKS Rev-Ad.

Gauges:
VDO EGT, water temp, oil pressure.
Innivate XD-16 A/F meter.
HKS injector pulse monitor & knock meter.

Suspension:
Front - JIC coil-overs with 14k x 200mm springs.
Rear - JIC coil-overs with HKS 10k x 200mm progressive springs.
Largus 27mm rear sway bar.
Largus 27mm front sway bar.

Serialnine subframe bushings.
Rare Yamaha Concept edition front strut bar.

With all custom control arms, and major subframe mods.

MR-S electric power steering pump, and 2:1 steering quickener.

Wheels/Tires:
Wheels - BBS LMs, 17x7 front, 17x8 rear.

Dunlop Direzza II

Brakes:
Sumitomo calipers & Wilwood 13.06" rotors, front,

and Sumitomo calipers with 12" JZX rears

Top end is closer to 165-ish with the 5.3 gears.

 

Demesio, I'll keep that in mind, as I'd like to try a single ring grove piston like the old F1 V-10s.

Good point, will take small impacts without breaking.

Bad point, if hit hard enough to rip, probably can't be patched like 'glass.

 

They use this stuff on dirt oval cars (I've posted links before), and kart bodies.

But now I found a company that says they will do custom stuff.

 

First thought was for fender flares, and bumpers.

Maybe even front fenders.

 

I would not consider this stuff street/show quality, but more for a track car.

Actually did something on my X8 today.......

Temperarily mounted the Bosch 044 on the hanger, with a custom made compression fitting connecting it to the stock outlet tube.

Used up a couple of aluminum fitting pieces to get everything to fit.

An M12 to #6 AN, that had the M12 threads shortened, the hex shortened, the tapered nose of the #6 AN cut off, and the threads shortened.

The other was a #6 AN female to 3/8" hose barb, that the nut was shortened, and the hose barb cut off flush with the top of the nut, then bored to match the 8mm outlet tube.

The outlet tube was shortened about a half inch to make everything fit.

Will be using a -011 teflon o-ring under the compression nut to seal.

 

This was all required to get the filter sock at the same height as was the stock one.

 

Still have to run heavier wire to it through the mount flange, and find a weather tight connector with larger pins to handle the current. Stock ones are damn small.
