So I've been here for a long time. I bought the x8 as a Daily on a whim for 400$ with a bad trans. Turns out it was out of fluid so I filled it up and daily'd it for 4 months during winter. I was busy fucking with this bitch for too long to give it any attention after the manual swap. So now I'm going farther.

Anyways. I found a 2jzge for 375$ with 60k. Happy I waited that one out for a good deal. Needs a timing belt and some misc shit. 2jz is non vvti out of a gs300. I'll dumb some cool pics of the cress in a timeline format for the fun of it.

they run real good if you don't mind swapping the engine after every pull. but that's okay, there's a ton of them out there.

What Gibbs is trying to say is your engine is from an sc. Bet the engine brackets have a z on them. I have a front sump gte pan I'll trade you if you wanna do shipping or something. Then make a piece of sheet metal for an oil return block off, and when you're ready to go turbo no drilling/tapping required.

Today is a good fucking day.

 

This motor is a BIT more of a project than I first originally thought though.

If I pull the head off can I reuse the head bolts or should I buy ARPs right away. Only reason is I'm afraid debris got into the engine when this one was sitting dormant.

here's a tip for just about anything engine related from now on, regardless of the make/model if its an integral fastener that is torqued and is under stress.

 

bolt = replace

 

stud = keep.

Do you have a realistic idea of what turbo set up you're going to go with, assuming you get that far into it?

 

I would think you'd want more power in that x8, but that's just me.

Holset would be fun.

 

I'm doing daily mode. Get the 2j in the car, make it reliable, then Mark II Conversion cause I pulled the boat anchor out of it already. Then suspension, etc. Reliable fun.

 

 

Holsets are cheap awesomeness, anyways.

Bought a 1 Piece driveshaft from Xcessive, I was originally going to go NA for a while but I might just begin to compile turbo parts as I may be buying a diesel plow truck to daily.

 

First world Wisconsin problems.

How the fuck do all you idiots manage to blow 7ms? I've been redlining this thing every day and I still cant get it to pop.

 

My temp gauge doesn't even work, and I don't give a fuck. It's never worked. This fucker WILL NOT DIE.

The broke ass inside of me needs it to die before I pull it. But it's been 2 years. I've dailied this for TWO YEARS.

Doesn't even smoke.

 

Anyways, got the 1 Piece driveshaft today, doesn't fit 7m/w58. Now everyone knows. I figured I'd try it just in case. It's about an inch too long.

mine ran great for 6 months, even after death gurgle. continued driving it to/from work daily with bhg until i lost cylinder compression and parked it.
