Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Thought I would just put my project on here. Here she is, an '87 Cressida, all blue. I bought it for $500 bucks with a rod knock, it drove about 9 miles before kaboom. Interior in good condition, paint faded. 106k miles. My current intentions are to 1UZ manual swap this thing and slide it. Let's see what happens. Cleaning it out, I earned $9.36, a Paso, and a car wash token. Yippee!! Mo 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Interesting intro even though an intro doesn't belong here. I recommend you create an intro thread then comeback to your build thread and carry on. http://jzxproject.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=7704

Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 30, 2012 I took the engine, trans, and interior out.
Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Removed the interior, and then pressure washed the 25 years of debris out of them. Re-installed it.
Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 30, 2012 The back dash was very nasty, so I replaced it with this piece of carpet from my office room floor. Just laid the dash over it, traced it out, cut it out, and then laid it in. I think I may switch this to a shag carpet of some sort, but this will do for now. Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 30, 2012 I put the engine and transmission in. Still need to build the engine mounts. Had to bang on the booster to free up some room.
Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 30, 2012 The plan at this point is to build the engine mounts. Modify the driver side header to clear the steering rack, then build an exhaust for it. Here's how she is sitting right now.
Austin 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Exhaust is over rated. Nice progress. Proceed please.

Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Put a Nardi TRD steering wheel, and TRD shift knob.
Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 30, 2012 I used a MKII Supra clutch pedal. Just had to weld an extra ear and drill a hole in it to mount under the dash. Now I just need to do something about the brake pedal :/
Guest OrlandoGTE11211 Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Seems like your making good progress I mean I would have been more excited to see a 1J vvti being dropped in it,but a 1UZ will do..atleast your going with a r154,if you would have been going auto I would have said something along the lines of "Really? GTFO here..."
WhoreMouth_Jr 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2012 i could never do that blue interrior, its too wild
Guest mr2driver Report post Posted July 31, 2012 I am actually using a Mk3 w58. I am leaning towards changing the interior to black somehow, and swapping the front seats out for the recaros I have in my MR2 currently. My other X7 is an 86 with maroon interior. The maroon is more 80s living room then the blue in this one.
Foompla 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2012 I have a blue interior that needs some bits.

Guest mr2driver Report post Posted August 2, 2012 I CAD drawn some mounts to cut out of a sheet of steel. Driver side mount post is welded up. Uses the stock rubber engine mount. I'll clean up the edges and powder coat them both once completed.
Guest mr2driver Report post Posted August 14, 2012 Engine mounted. The left and right mounts ended up being mirror images of themselves. Going to use a MKIII rad-iator.
Guest mr2driver Report post Posted August 14, 2012 Let's see if I can make these work.
Guest Fidel Cashflo Report post Posted August 28, 2012 Hope those headers end up working for you dude. Those VVT-i 1U headers ended up dumping right into the steering column -___- Still a lot of modifications to get them around the column. Car's looking great though. GRAFH 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2012 You should ditch the entire ac system and get rid of the condenser. Then install a radiator where the condenser is, under that support rail. Get a shorter radiator from afco.
