Guest swim Report post Posted August 24, 2012 Today I found a 1GS3 motor for sale on Craigslist for $350. Got me thinking, instead of putting the 7M-GE back in when I have to pull it for the trans swap, I could throw this 2J in stock. My friend has a JZS161 header, and this motor comes with the stock intake manifold and shit. Worry about getting the motor mounted and wired now, throw it in N/A, piece together the turbo kit, FFIM, so and and so forth later. Thinking about it, this is exactly what I told Lofty not to do earlier in this thread. Keep in mind, I've done none of this yet, I'm speculating that the 7MGTE ECU can be tuned with an SAFC or similar to run decent enough to drive around N/A until you can get a turbo kit together. This may be a dumb fucking assumption. Find the shittiest 89+ Supra Turbo you can. Take the wiring harness, ECU, everything with an electrical plug on it that's on the engine, trans, driveshaft, rear diff, clutch pedal. Scrap the rest. Especially the 7MGTE, make sure that goes directly to scrap lest someone try and use it ever again. Parts needed: 2JZ-GE complete motor, front sump, must be non-VVTi. 97 and earlier GS300, pretty much. 7M-GTE engine harness & ECU, coilpack, MAF, related sensors, injectors MA70 R154 transmission, front driveshaft half, clutch pedal Replacement MA70 clutch master & slave cylinders Driftmotion stainless braided clutch line OEM Toyota 1JZ R154 bellhousing Aftermarket 1JZ-GTE flywheel ARP 4AGE flywheel bolts Aftermarket 7M-GTE clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing JZX90 motor mount brackets, new isolators lots of swap info here: http://www.supramani...-and-pricelists 7MGTE CPS fits on the 2JZ like so 2jz TPS into 7mgte harness like so Ground: Brn/Blk(2j) to Brn(7M) Idle Sw: Red(2j) to yel/blue (7M) BCC: Blue/Red to Blue/Red Signal: Yellow(2j) to Wht/Red(7M) Lots more wiring info here http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?38286-2JZGE-MKIII-with-7MGTE-Wiring-and-Electronics&p=526250#post526250 If you use a header/downpipe with screw-in bungs for the o2 instead of flanges (which I think all 2JZGE downpipes are like), use a 5.0 mustang o2 sensor http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?50844-Dok-s-E85-powered-2jzge-T-build&p=1018140&viewfull=1#post1018140 clutch pedal info: http://jzxproject.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=3343 http://jzxproject.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=7813 http://jzxproject.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=4847 additionally, you'll need to repin the body connectors of the MA70 harness to work in the MX83. http://jzxproject.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=417 http://members.shaw.ca/boltz/7MGTE-MX83/MX83_Engine_harness_Plugs.htm and you'll likely have to bypass the automatic trans starter interlock bullshark as described here http://jzxproject.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=8051 AEM makes a straight-through harness extension that you can wire an SAFC or whatever into without fucking up the harness, and you'll probably need to use an MSD tach adapter to get the tach to work. pretty sure I'll wind up doing this so I can worry about getting the engine and trans mounted and the wiring harness done before I have to worry about my FFIM, Q45 throttle body, fuel system, exhaust manifold, turbo, intercooler
Kyle 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2012 Dear faggot, Use 2jzge distributor. Love, Kyle. Ps: aristo ecus are cheap, and way better than 7m ANYTHING. The end
Kyle 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2012 How many times has any one seen an ma70 harness in acceptable condition? The efforts to repair it could be better spent making something worth a fuck.
Guest swim Report post Posted August 24, 2012 this guy, once, in the one I bought car had two rust holes through the floorpan, and the fenders were totally gone, so I assume mine is probably at the far end of the haggard spectrum
Guest Andrew Report post Posted August 24, 2012 I dont plan on using anything 7m. question: will a jza80 ecu work fine or should i just go for aristo?
Guest Lofty Report post Posted August 24, 2012 Awesome info in here. Told you there was no bad ideas with NA-T Swim Will read more indepth here when I get off work, but the info is much appreciated. Kyle, send me 2j parts. Fo free. Kisses.
Kyle 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2012 andrew, it should be fine as theyre pretty much the same ecu in obd1 form as aristo aside from having a maf instead of map and iat. I guess youd be doing that to try to get it legal out there? I really don't know shit about cali but you may want to look into it a little more. Also, some supra guy told me the other day he converted his obd1 car to obd2 to allow him to use the scanner to monitor crap, but not sure if the obd2 jza80 will be gay and fight a piggyback management system like the IS will. If not that's kind of a cool deal.
Guest Andrew Report post Posted August 25, 2012 I really don't care about getting it smog legal, but being able to to smog in the mean time would be nice until its na-t or 1.5 jz depending if i get a good job or a daily. Obd2 would be cool if i wanted to run a Aem or something down the road, but yeah as far as wiring i'm seriously a noob so i feel like a maf would be easier to go about.
