Infamy....or a how to on building a shitbox proam drift car with aspirations for buttsecs.

Recommended Posts

I dont see how he can call this car a piece of shit, I mean he traded his IS300 for it. So whats that tell you.... just saying. Fuck I drove it at Irwindale a few months back, 4th gear entry with no power steering And It got me home in one piece. The car handles solid, a competition drift cars first job is function above all.

If you have been to pro am events, which most of you have. You know these poor cars are built on budgets, fucked time schedules, by a guy and his friends and usually only last a couple seasons. That car has been drifted since 08? Come on man what did you expect?

Sorry to say but - Drift cars are disposable. And you bought a well used drift car by Ameen, Jodi and me too bad, and now some other kid will think "Oh cool famous drift car!" and buy it too.

Your is300 was no prize, so dont play it up like you got shafted, I just rebuilt that rear end, You do some pretty sweet work yourself.

i heard about the rear end in the car, and thats the same diff thats been in it for 3 years. i just did my third upgrade in it about a month before jodie got the car, and had no idea it was like that, whatever damage was there, wasnt there when i last tour it down. if jodie had told me, and i hadn't found out from someone else, i;d have sent him the 3.70's immediately. I'm willing to admit that i made a mistake putting it back together last time if it was like i was told. but every other part of that car was decent, minus the wiring under the passenger fender. its correct, but i don't remember if i rewired it after i rubbed through with the tire. i want to say i did. if thats the only complaint you have on the car then yeah i got shafted, not saying i got shafted by jodie, but the car was nowhere near what i expected. as far as solid handling you can fuck off, the IS out handled the x8 10:1. it was a newer car, but so fucking what, the x8 has alot more suspension mods than the IS did. if anyones unhappy, im down to trade back whenever. im not the one starting shit. im reporting what i find. you want to put your name on the craftsmanship? how about you ameen? i've got lots of questions about this car. maybe you guys can answer? the rear brake line that was nearly rubbed through on the driveshaft? who was that? exposed wires that are twisted together with no electrical tape even? who was that? fucking raped balljoint? who was that? torn firewall where the clutch pedal mounts? how about that? fucking rotors that make half contact with the pads? was that you robert? or was it ameen? a fucking fuel pump thats hardwired directly to the pump with the wires coming out from under that pump hanger? fire hazard much? lets be real, i've minimized the bashing and badmouthing. you want a war, go fight one. im not starting one, im fixing a hackjob.

scanned your post....all i got was

whaa whaa whaa I bought a used and abused drift car

dude you traded your car, end of story. all this bitching should have been done towards the seller at time of purchase. Not the guy that drove the car 3 years ago. I hard wired the tail lights for an event to qualify sorry it wasnt chasebays mil-spec.

i dont get you, drift car= piece of shit, period always always always

Thought about it and had to add.

This car and allot of other pro am level cars were never built to make anyone happy but the owners. Ameen didn't build this car to sell it. Shit went down mistakes were made and he sold his car, to a friend.

My car is a piece of shit, I love it but its fucked. Whatever once again not built to impress potential buyers. I looked over you post a little better. And I have answers for your simple questions.

It's an ex competition drift car done on a budget, as long as it drifted it was good to go. Idk what lines and wires your getting at. Whatever it worked, were all alive still.

Ball joints wear out, they sell them at autozone.

Brakes- lol I ran mine when I used the car. You need some r32 rotors, ameen ran what he had. And it worked good enough for him.

And chassis age doesn't matter if a car isn't setup. Why do you complain about your decision to trade for an inferior chassis?

Dude I'm not gonna fling anymore shit around in here about your bad ass is300, you know the shape its in. Don't play like its a formula d spec masterpiece. I don't wanna dissect your project/drift car to try and tear you down. That's fucked up

I dont have to answer to you mother fucker..

i dont know you.. dont like you.. and you dont deserve that car...

Then get the fuck out. You log in after a year of inactivity to shit talk. I never messaged you i never called you, i never asked you for shit. I sure as fuck didnt ask for you to come in MY thread and talk shit about other people who shared their experiences with your shitty fucking work.

Robert: you didnt build the car, i never called you out a single time until you decided to poke around and stir shit up. I havent complained to jodie about our trade, because its not his problem, and its not his fault. I bought a car site unseen. Theres risk involved. Theres nothing on this car that couldnt be fixed. Im documenting my progress as i fix the shit thats wrong. If you take offense to it, then so be it. Im a fucking man. I havent whined bitched or moaned, i've shown the obvious problems and my fixes. Did i ever call you or jodie to ask questions? Did i badmouth you? No. You want to stand up for a person who fucked half the people who gave him money? Really? Its not 1 or 2 people dude. It seems like half of texas. I had zero issue with you until today. You had no reason to post in this thread. You had zero reason defend a car you didnt build.

I towed that "shitbox" accross the country for a good friend. Put allot of time, money, and lost sleep because that car. He totalled it then resurrected it to become the cleanest x8 in north America.

I don't know it just gets me pissed to see so much talk (not just you) about a car allot of people worked hard on and looked up to at one time. I never did business with ameen, just know him as a friend, mechanic and driver. What does a fucked up failed business have to do with that.

Sorry to take a big ranting dump on your thread, but I (as in me personally) wouldn't start a build on this car with that title.

Hey dumbass... when you are talking shit about me in a public thread, I am going to chime in.. YOU are the one starting shit.. BTW, have fun with my "piece of shit car with shitty work".. regardless, you'll NEVER be able to drive it like i did...

What you just said to Rob just goes to show what kind of person you are... You're the one who started talking shit.. YOU (someone who doesn’t even know me, who hasn’t even met me) started talking shit about ME.. As soon as Rob, who IS someone who knows me, chimes in to actually say what’s right, you turn on him too..

He’s backing me up because he knows that all those dudes on the internet talking shit about me are ridiculous.. because he ACTUALLY knows me.. not reading some shit posted about me on the internet.. there are always two sides to a story... ask anyone on JZXP who has actually met me and dealt with me...

Give it up.. sell the car.. you dont deserve it.. Actually.. better yet.. keep it.. it’s a fire hazard... LOL

All of this is fucking retarded.

Ameen: no, ive never met you, but I've seen videos of you running around looking like an emo haji yelling swordfight. That makes you look like a total faggot in the early stages. But thats neither here, nor there.

A lot of people in tx, specifically Houston area, but even up here talk shit avout you. It is ALL related to 786.

BUT: i can understand that a lot of that is probably NOT your fault. As you said, there are always 2 sides to a story. You run a busy shop, shit gets hectic, you cant always baby sit your employees, and people in general tend to be lazy to do half-ass shit i you don't stand on top of them, which there is almost never time to do that. I can understand that being the owner, ALL of the downfalls of your company ultimately fall on you, the owner, and that sucks. All you can do is try to rectify shit, an 9 outta 10 people can be impossible to make happy.

Out of curiousity, was it you that wired the crank sensor backwards?

Robert: I respect that you are defending your friend, but look at celica drifters post on the first page, then toji's post on the second. Are they putting words in your mouth? It's not just them, theres a lot of other people that have said you said he say she say baby mama drama. I dont tend to believe everything people tell me so I don't know, just pointing out the fct that you personally, here and now, say one thing, and A LOT of people, here local, this site, other places, say you said this was a pile of shit, drove like ass, etc. maybe you should take rhat up with them?

Me personally, I have seen the car. I thought it was awesome as fuck. Yeah, its haggard, but it iS A FUcKnG DRIFT CAR!!! If you make a perfect clean car for sole purpose of this youre an idiot. Like robert said, built to function

Jodie asked me if i wanted it. I did, but just couldn't afford to take the plunge. Even through all this bs, I still wish I could've.

Sure, austins IS is probably a huge pile of shit too. Most of our PURPoSE BUILT cars ARE.

Oh yeah, this wasnt the cleanest x8 in north america. I dont even like gerard, but we all know his car at the time this one was in its glory days, was.

But what do i know im just some dumb fag anyway

We all are Kyle, we all are.

Yeah your right

I feel like "who is this guy" and yes the car was very hard to drive until we fixed the chassis post Ameen. I have no idea how the fuck Ameen drove the car the way he did. At first It was like the car was cursed for anyone else driving it.

I can say I feel a little bad for getting in the middle of this. But at one time anyone that was a die hard jzx guy loved this car, and for people directly involved with it, it feels like someone talking shit about family.

Reality is- buying a retired competitive drift car, is like dating a porn actress after her prime.

And Austin said fire hazard. That's worth revoking his man card.

I can completely agree. You just try to find vagina side wall and get yours. I never started this thread to talk shit. The first post i said jodie fixed alot. The car is still scary, but whatever. It can be fixed, its just going to take someone who loves it. When i first joined this site, i didnt like x8's, i still dont love them, but there were like 3 cars that stuck out. This one, g's and mark panics. If this had been any other x8, i wouldve told jodie to kick rocks. It was just sort of like seeing your dream girl in real life and instead of being what you expected, she picked up a meth habit and forgot how to bathe. I knew it would suck. I just didnt anticipate what 6 years of abuse does to a car. Jodie got the IS after 3 years of it, i hope it lasts.

Ameen: You're right about one thing and that's that we've never met in person. So let me revise my statement, "I'm anti Ameen's reputation"

At first, all I had was 2nd hand knowledge. I was on H240. I had Slide America. I talked to Casey about the early days. When I moved back to Houston from Japan I was stoked about 786 (I had also been off the forums for about a year). One of the first things I did was hop in the car and take a trip across town. I pulled up to the shop only to find the gates closed and a for lease sign up. So I jumped back on the forums to find the same thing you obviously have, pages and pages of people who were fucked over. Cars damaged, work done terribly or not done at all, employees not paid and the highest crime of all (not saying it's true) parts stolen off customer cars to use on your own. If it is true, that shit is sickening.

I still had my doubts. How could anybody with the experience to open their own shop be that bad. Especially someone in the drift community. Then I got to witness it for myself. I was shocked. When we pulled that motor and saw what had been done on the 5 spd swap, I immediately called him and asked who'd done it. To my surprise he said 786. He's in his 50's by the way and couldn't figure out to replace a fuse to get his convertible top to work so I have no doubt that he didn't attempt any wiring himself. I've got pictures at home, I'd be more than happy to post them if you believe any of this to be false.

So this is what it comes down to, you/your shop were shit mechanics or you just didn't care about your customers. Either way you were wrong for taking peoples money. 786 could have been something great for Houston, instead it feels like a 2nd Enron.

I'll be at rd1 if you want to meet in person. Otherwise you can just paypal me the refund for his swap and the $20 in bolts that I bought to install it properly.

Ameen made this car famous because of how he drove it, not because it was the cleanest car in north America. All the hate in the world can be fired off at Robert, Ameen, or G but the fact remains that these cars would be nowhere near where they are now if not for them. I think some degree of respect and decency is due for that reason alone.

Its over and done. Ameen is pursuing a new career, the trade has been done, and the only decision left for any debate is if Austin will sell it or drive it. Its not unfixable.

Gaijinsmash, don't bring that h240 shit here please. Here's it from someone who saw first hand. Before people go digging up dirt.

786 tanked for so many reasons. I have a good friend that worked with them to the very end trying to save what they could and yes unpaid, He kept working there unpaid what does that tell you man. They were broke completely. The shop had gone through allot of "mechanics" and like someone said you cannot baby sit all your employees. Shit was fucked. It was hectic as shit over there. most people would have hung themselves with the shit they went through at the bitter end.

Employees stole parts to justify "shitty pay" ameen could hardly afford

All the customer cars in the front lot got broken into twice that I know of. there insurance and cops basically said "get fucked, too bad". Ecu's, boost controllers, clusters, jdm gay shit, cd players, harneses all gone.

machine shop couldn't get paid, so fresh built motors stuck in lingo

rent and all bills were beyond just past due,

at the end there was 3 guys with like 18 cars in various states of assembly started by other people that had already quit.

Another problem was ameen had a bad habbit of under quoting work, trying to hook people up. That never works well.

I'm sure parts swapping like ignitors, mafs, stock ecus happend to get cars out the door, but it was done out of desperation. Not like turbo kits or whole motors like some people might want to believe.

I'm sure I will get bashed by Houston scene people for defending the root of all evil. They were kids trying to make it happen, and it didn't work. If they woulda got out sooner it wouldn't have been so bad probably. I know I would have.

Thanks Leon

jzxp is slowly becoming more like shit forums and less like jzxp. used to be like a garage that a bunch of assholes shared because they all had the same car and basic ideas, now not so sure.

accountability is something that follows you through your whole life, not just until you decide to start over because something didn't go well. i am not saying anything specifically about ameen or austin or driftaholic, this is just in general. i don't know about ameen's situation enough to even have an opinion on it, just hearsay from others. when i met him and rode in his car, he was a nice guy, a good driver and the car did what he told it to do.

we've all been fucked by unforeseen shit when we buy a car. does it suck? yes. is there someone to blame? always. should the responsible person be held accountable? absolutely. will they make things right? in the real world, the chances are very fucking slim.

caveat emptor is all i can say, and i have learned it the hard way. i wouldn't say i am gullible but i can think of 3 times in the past 10 years i got shafted on something big. i am lucky because in 2 out of those 3 situations the seller handled things to my satisfaction. but some people won't or just plain can't and you are stuck with the burden of doing it yourself.

austin, i liked your IS, never understood why you wanted to sell/trade it but i know you have your reasons. buying any car, especially a used drift car, is a risky fucking proposition. but i feel for you, and even though i don't know you, if you were here i'd offer to help you clean shit up. you can state the facts, figure out who is responsible, but in the end - especially considering that the thing has been beaten, wrecked, rebuilt and passed through different ownership, there's no realistic way anyone is going to step up and offer to replace it or repair it for you :\

fuck all this shit honestly. we buy shit cars, we do stupid shit to them and then drive them in a stupid manner. we're all alike in that; there's no reason for all the drama to exist and make us look like a bunch of 240 faggots. if ameen personally fucked anyone (in general) over in some way there's nothing stopping them from detailing their experience anywhere/everywhere, obviously. but shit talking each other using rumors and hearsay makes everyone shit blood, people who have legitimate things to offer here leave because of feuds and are replaced by some clueless trendwhore who bought their car swapped and built or buys shit they don't even know the story behind or whatever.

Your first sentence already states that i shouldnt dignify your post with a response, however, i would like to set a few things straight. Amongst the several other videos of me, you chose one where i, along with other members of the TX drift community, am heavily intoxicated and sneak into an Anime convention, create a ruckus and then get kicked out.. If i was to base my opinion of you off of your avatar (again because i dont know who the fuck you are) i would say youre a total douchebag for having a fucking cartoon character tattooed on your bicep... Not only that but you gotta say that im a haji looking dude.. i had a feeling that all this hate against me is a somewhat racially charged...

Out of curiousity, was it you that wired the crank sensor backwards?

what the FUCK are you talking about?

Ameen: You're right about one thing and that's that we've never met in person. So let me revise my statement, "I'm anti Ameen's reputation"

You and me both....

If it is true, that shit is sickening.

Like i said before, there are always two sides to a story.. I am not going to go into all of that, but for what its worth, i will say that i NEVER stole anything and no parts off of customer cars were used on mine. That is a shitty low life thing to do. Half of the shit on that thread is a joke. Some dudes saying that i am on a witness protection program because i owe the asian mafia money. Another guy saying that i closed up shop and moved to Kansas. Yea i should have probably chimed in to "save face" whenever that shit happened, but for obvious reasons, i had other things to worry about. Anyone who knows me knew how much i loved my cressida and that i would have NEVER sold it. But, I sold the cressida and gave the money out to customers (who i felt were getting the short end of the stick) to keep them happy. And i ended up driving a $600 1989 Benz Wagon. Yea, you wont see that on the boards though.

I've got pictures at home, I'd be more than happy to post them if you believe any of this to be false.

There is only one 50 year old dude with a convertible that i have done a 5spd swap for. I think his screenname was Tennisitis or something. And if that is the same guy, his swap wasnt even done at 786. It was done at my house, for $250, SEVERAL years ago. LONG before i even considered opening up 786. I also told him that the auto bolts would not fit on the manual bellhousing, so he would need to get new ones, but he would be okay for a bit. Im guessing he forgot about that. I was young and stupid, so some mistakes were probably made. But if the swap was done so terribly, why is it i NEVER (even when i had an "established" shop) saw him again? If there were any problems or gripes he had with the car, i would have fixed it and rectified the issue. However, after 7 years, when this "lets talk shit about this Haji mother fucker" shit storm starts, he decides to join in on the bandwagon, along with you and several other people who i dont know and have never dealt with.
