Guest tylwld86 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 Two questions, 1) Will a mkIII supra LSD bolt into an x7, and 2) will an x7 open diff bolt into an x8?
Guest DuaxMachine Report post Posted August 16, 2011 No, and No......... The X7 is a 7.5" unit, same as the MA60 MkII Supra. X8 is an 8" unit, the same as a MkIII Supra. Internally speaking.........

Guest tylwld86 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 LSD- choice for dailying, but I've heard people say they can skip Welded-choice for slides, but hard on dailying. What do you guys think, weld up my stock, or spend the time / money to get an lsd?
bwcress 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 DO MORE RESEARCH... instead of waiting for an answer to fall out of the sky... figure out how a differential work then figure out the characteristics of your options and then.... make an educated decision based on what you want its really not rocket science
Guest DuaxMachine Report post Posted August 16, 2011 The search feature on Google, and Yahaoo are marvelous. Just looking through TRD, Cusco, ATS, etc. sites will show what interchanges. But your fucking welcome anyway..........
Guest tylwld86 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 I was more looking for opinions or previous experiences, not asking you guys to dump all diff info in here
Guest DuaxMachine Report post Posted August 16, 2011 Weld it ! Make sure you do it in the car, so that you heat soak the gears and bearings so that they soften. Weld splatter works wonders in gear oil. Better yet, buy 10 feet of 1/2" nylon rope, and wind it around your spider gears. It's as good as a viscous LSD. I've had a typicial Monday, and am in my old man bitch mode. (comes from dealing with idiots on eBay)
Space Case 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 Man up and weld it. Dailying a welded diff is not hard in any way. It only poses problems if you drive like a complete knob. Side effects such as chatter around corners and poor turning radius at low speed...is a small price to pay for the large amount of awesome.
Guest tylwld86 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 And then you have to come home and deal with noobs like me, lolol. But what do you mean in the car, like still attached? is that even possible? or were you being sarcastic? and lool rope. and very true in this case, Space Case, lol. My attempt at a pun. Space Case 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 Remove the diff completely, clean it, and weld it.....presuming this is an open diff.

Space Case 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 ^ Weir makes a 7.5" diff kit as well. Problem with this...is that you're still stuck with a stock diff.
Stephen 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2011 Side effects such as chatter around corners and poor turning radius at low speed...is a small price to pay for the large amount of awesome. should be noted that agressive 1.5's and 2 ways can have the same side effects. Guest DuaxMachine Report post Posted August 16, 2011 And then you have to come home and deal with noobs like me, lolol. No, it's the fucking honda-tards....... But what do you mean in the car, like still attached? is that even possible? No........ or were you being sarcastic? Yes...... Take it out, pull the bearings and gear off it. You do not want to get them hot, or they will anneal, and become soft. You need to put a lot of weld material on the spider gears, or they will crack the welds, and roll over it, gernading the diff. Seen it too many times.
