Toyota Altezza / Lexus IS300 Drift Setup Thread

Hey Guys and Gals! Being an avid 4-door drifter. I figured I would setup a discussion thread for drifting and even grip driving if wanted. I have 6+ years of karting experience and been drifting/grip driving for 4+ years so I promise not to feed bullshit or misguide people.

 

Example Form:

 

Car: (Make, Model, Year)

 

Engine: (Engine Model, Big Mods (Ie Boosted), Estimated WHP/Torque

 

Suspension: (All Important Mods)

 

Wheels: (The Setup You Drift / Grip On)

 

Alignment: (Front: Camber, Caster, Toe) (Rear: Camber + Toe)

 

Here is mine:

2003 Lexus IS300

 

Engine:

 

2JZGE (195whp/180tq)

 

Suspension:

 

Stance GR+ Coilovers (12k/10k): Currently 3 years old and still feel awesome, though the lower bushings are pretty dead

TRD Yellow Front + Rear Swaybars

TRD Front Lower Brace

TRD Rear Strut Bar

Tanabe Rear Lower Brace

Lextasy Front Strut Bar

Tuned Parts Rigid Bars

URAS Steering Angle Spacers

FIGS Engineering Race Mega Arms

FIGS Engineering RCA/Hysteer Piece

FIGS Engineering Front + Rear Adjustable Endlinks

FIGS Engineering Prototype Front LCA Bushing

FIGS Engineering Solid Steering Rack Bushings

FIGS Engineering Rear Toe Links

 

Wheels:

 

Front - 17x9 +25mm 215/40/17

 

Rear - 17x9 +24mm 215-235/40-45/17

 

Alignment:

 

Front Camber = -2.5

Front Caster = Forgot LOL

Front Toe = Heavy 1/8th Toe In

 

Rear Camber = -1.25

Rear Toe = Zero Toe

bone stock auto, poor alignment, shitty cooper 16" tires on sawblades.

 

really i didn't have all that hard a time initiating as long as i was at least at the top of 2nd, but the car wasn't able to drift beyond what felt like walking speed. hahaha.

 

i definitely had much faster and better runs with a few really early entries, but that was just the one my gf ended up recording for laughs earlier in the day when i was feeling out the car.

How do you like those Hysteer arms? They look pretty sweet on FIGG's site. I have been thinking of getting those but they say they only add 5 degree's, doesn't seem like that is worth the hassle.

Lets break down chassis codes here.....

 

IS300/altezza chassis code is realistically

 

SXE10

 

S for the 3sge beams motor in the altezza

XE because they cant very well name it the exact same chassis as the x100's that share its basic structure.

10, for the first generation of xe chassis.

 

 

for whatever reason you have a problem with the IS forums, its probably the exact same reason myself, joe and kyle are here. because the IS forums are full of pussy assed middle aged men obsessed with a lexus badge and unwilling to drive the car or let it reach its full potential.

 

 

we're in the same position as cressida owners. we have shitty toyota's, no aftermarket, and too small of a group of people who needs parts, to make the aftermarket grow.

 

if anything, we deserve to be here more than you, because we have jz,x x chassis and 4 doors. you only have the last two.

sorry gordon, you are wrong to try and send away IS300 owners from this forum. this is JZX project, like it or not, we will talk about JZ powered sedans all day if we like and you can't stop it.

 

if you want to argue about how an IS300 is no more related to a cressida then a dodge mini-van go ahead, you can have your opinion all day here, we will listen and gather what we want from what you say.

my setup is based off of joe's, but with more low, and more aggressive wheels.

 

i run 17X9.5 all around with 215/45 front, and 225/45 rear.

Sup doods. did a little dyno tech day/ drifting and got some decent info on my settings. MOre detailed info to come after write up , photo sesh.

Dynoed at 187HP,

Weighed in at around 3170 with gutted trunk / half tank of gas

39.4 degrees of steering angle stock.

 

(I have about 5-10 more degrees to get out of steering till my caliper smashes into coilover) 18x8.5 + 25

 

Raised the car 1/2 inch in rear, added hotchkis sways, and put the rear stance coilovers 2 clicks from soft.

There should be a rule on JZX to show only front end, strait on shots of ISs.......

That way we wouldn't have to see all the uglyness.

Fuck, when are auto designers going to pull their heads out of their ass, and make body lines that look good again ?
