My swagger wagon

Recommended Posts

A few of you asked for a build thread for my 1986 Toyota Cressida wagon. But first off I need to give credit where it's due, huge props to Shawn Browne at Limit Factory who has been the main charge behind this build. Does quality work and kills it on the track! ALso gotta thank all my friends who have helped put time into this car too, feels good to have a tight car scene.

This Is how she looked when I first picked her up:

The front valence was bent up from a run in with a snowbank with the previous owner. Had some gangsta raked stance via chopped springs, though that also put the final kill on the struts, thus the shocks were blown all around. It was sitting on some pretty baller supras wrapped in stretched winter tires with 8mm spacers up front. The motor/tranny/body had over 350k on it.

The stock 5M squeeled like a dieing pig everytime I turned it over, begging me just to let it die... leaking oil and coolant everywhere it goes... but it churns on none the less, fucking toyotas never stop!

The tranny must have killed it's last brain cells when it hit that snow bank, because I swear it was dumber than a sack of rocks. It couldn't decide a proper gear if it's life depended on it, and it was worse when it hadn't warmed up. BUT! It too, soldiers on through the roads and highways of this beautiful province.

I even managed to take this winner of a combo slideways a couple times! (with the aid of wet leaves and dirt covered roads). I wasn't a fan of the huge rake the car had so the springs were chopped a little more.

Surprisingly I managed to daily this for a soild 6 months before I started running on 5 cyinders and parked her, waiting for money to put into a new motor. Got the sedan for free (technically) at the same time so i could keep driving.

After the wagon got parked, I picked up an 89 turbo supra with a blown hg for cheap. Fixed it and sold it and all the sudden I had money to buy a motor! A good deal on an sr came up and it was within my budget and that's how this hole project came about. So... 5m came out

went white and gold for shits and giggles and stripped the bitch

motor came in

62033_10150278700805381_564865380_14858748_4585651_n.jpg

did some cleaning and fitment and painted the bay something proper

and you guys have seen it from there. sr20 went into the car. got about a fist and a bit behind the motor to easily access tranny bolts. hella room on either side, and the gaping hole out front.

I'd also like to tuck a few more wires to keep it clean. We took off the shitty tint that was on there, not sure if it will go back or not. Going s13 coils up front, still unsure on the rear. Driveshaft will be made up soon, won't be long until she's rolling.

thanks guys, it's nice to get a positive response for once. I have a 9 page thread on another forum, 6 of those pages are people telling me i'm an idiot, and saying the same things over and over.

fuck yes, ive been waiting for this! but out of curiosity what made you decide to use an sr?

It was mostly just chance and opportunity, I had some money from a car I just sold, was having trouble finding a jz for a good price with a 5 speed, a good deal on the sr came up and after some deliberation I picked it up. The biggest thing I like about it though is how much room i have to work with. I hate working on cars, especially cramped engine bays. Everything is sooo accessible and clean with the sr in there. Makes me very happy haha.

oh, very cool , what size diamonds u got there?

15x10 -25

I happen to be jealous, I almost snapped up a wagon of the same year for 800$, but when I called the guy it was gone. :( Very nice so far, any vids of startup or is it not ready yet?

i'll vouch this. everything is so accessible, motor could be out and on the ground in 45 mins or less. someone who's never taken a motor out could hhave it out in 1-1.5 hours. soo much room it's wonderful.

vid soon.

Took the missile out for some snow sessions the other night, some sick wall scrapes, epic e-brake entries, massive manji's. got a little too rowdy though:
