My Couch Pulls Out, I Don't: The Resurrection

Recommended Posts

fucking excellent build. the fact that I haven't checked this out before means I've been slacking on my mod duties and generally keeping up to shit around here. On the upside, this is the complete opposite of shit that will get you banned...

have any footage of you drifting it?

Only footage that I know of are the pics I posted and it was my first time and I was super shitty. The second event with my refreshed diff I did a lot better, but apparently no one took any pictures or video :( I'm in the process of trying to get a warranty replacement for my shift fork from Marlin Crawler, so hopefully that happens soon so I can get this bitch back together and make it out for one last hoorah before the end of the season and actually get some good footage.

Small Update:

Got a replacement for my shift fork (at a discounted price, not a full warranty replacement,) and got everything back together. The trans is a frickin tank and is perfectly fine after I replaced the fork, which is a testament to how awesome the R154 is. Also rebuilt the steering rack, which I would not suggest anyone attempt, because I ended up having to make 3 different tools out of some house plumbing fittings. After putting everything back together, my power steering STILL doesn't work. I may have had the lines connected backwards because I had the high pressure side connected to the bottom fitting at the rack as opposed to the top since the lower one has an "L" next to it which I was assuming meant "Low Pressure" so I reversed them and it seems to be working a little better. Any suggestions on what it could be? Flow control valve in the pump perhaps? Any help would be awesome because it is pissing me the fuck off that I can't figure out whats wrong. I double checked the rotor and vane blades and they are all oriented correctly so who knows. Maybe the pump is just shot and I need a new one. Anyway here are some pics of how its sitting now. Been dailying it to school for the last week and I fucking love it.

Yeah I know, I need moar loaw all around but my coilovers are maxed out. Gotta talk to Eric at Stance and have him hook me up with some short springs and helpers so I can slam the shit out of it. I wanna drop the front another 1" and maybe do 1/2" in the rear. Also I tore apart my PS pump to find that there is no flow control valve...which would explain why I have never had powersteering. Whoever I bought it from must have taken it out...bastard. I'm glad I found my problem though. On another note I popped one of my beads off the rim in the rear last night going down my driveway. Looks like I need to trim away the inner fenders so that doesn't happen anymore. Steep driveways = FAIL...needless to say I ended up getting belligerent at the bar.

double check the steering hub, lots of those are drilled crooked and the wheel wobbles. just a heads up.

Digging this. I'm from the Detroit area, hopefully I run into you at some events.

Are you going to try and make it to No Star Bash in May?

what chassis is your koyo designed for?

It's a MK3 Supra one. I know there's a Cressida specific Mishimoto, but I've heard too many bad things for the price to even waste my time, so I decided to nut up or shut up. They are also not as thick, so I thought I would just go with a tried and true Koyo. Only thing I am worried about is the clearance between the back of my Taurus fan to the serpentine belt. I'll probably end up having to make a custom rear shroud out of some aluminum that will lay a little flatter. It's not like I haven't had to custom fab everything else on this thing anyway

Wil do. I appreciate the heads up.

Yeah I think so. It's either that or go to the Indy 500, which I have religiously gone for the past 4 years so we will see. Theres also an event in the Chicago area late April which I wanna hit too. I now have a full time job since I graduated in December, so it's time to let loose and have some fun while I still can. Hopefully we can three wide with Keith and have some fun lol. 'Mericuh

The fan actually comes in a few different cars, including the old Lincoln Mark VII and other versions of the Taurus. They are usually everywhere in junkyards. There are 20+ in the local junkyard with half of them having the fan.

I has mid 90ish I think altima fans on the melon with an aluminum radiator and the god damn thing can be repeatedly abused in 107* TX heat with hardly cracking the halfway mark on the cluster. Then let it idle in the same heat after said abuse and temp drops like crazy. Just another option

yeah, altima fans also fit pretty nicely. my aluminum radiator wasn't a koyo, but i'm guessing that's what those chinese children duplicated anyway...

curious to see how the taurus fans fit up, but at least with the altimas, no custom shroud necessary.

If I saw your car parked next to that Skyline, I'd be so busy looking at your car I'd probably forget there's a Skyline there.
