Update on the progress thus far:

Been getting things done, slowly but surely. Odds and ends have been getting tied up and everything is coming together. Here's what's been happening the past month or so:

Made an aluminum battery box:

Patched the obligatory rust hole in spare tire well:

Glow plug oil cap?????????

Yeah, it's actually the cooling dome from one of my scooter engines. It's been laying around for years and was way too cool to not be put to use, so there ya go. I still need to mount the coil that goes to it with the plug wire so people get really confused.

Anyway here's a little update on some shit.

In the process of making my hydro, got the handle semi-finished and the bracket drawn up in Solidworks:

Rebuilt the powersteering pump:

Front spindles ready to be welded:

Shock towers drilled for S13 tophats:

IMG_0966.jpg

Cut out the pieces for the hydro e-brake bracket on a CNC plasma table:

Should be back on the road within the next week so I can dial in the suspension and play around with the hydro before the next event in early July. Damn I wanna drift the shit outta this bitch

That would be a negative since the current status of it is this:

And I might be on there, but don't frequent the site at all. The only local site I'm on is Kzoorice, which is local to the Kalamazoo area. You're in the area I take it?

I guess it's time for a few updates.

Finally made it to my first event which was the Drift Indy Rage #3: The Luau on July 8 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, IN. Had a ton a fun, found out I suck and don't really know how to slide a RWD car, but I didn't do too bad for it being my first time.

Powersteering wasn't working for dick and my diff was slipping like crazy, so both added to my learning curve and made it kinda hard to get the hang of it but by the end of the night I wasn't doing half bad. I also discovered last week that I now have an overheating issue, so I need to replace the thermostat and upgrade my fan system from just using the single fan that was originally used for the AC which worked but not when I'm beating the hell out of the car in 90+ deg. temps. I'm probably going to just go with the standard dual Taurus fans from the junkyard since they are cheap and flow a ton. I also need to tear apart the powersteering pump and just do a full rebuild instead of a half ass job I did before. I also tore apart the diff and freshened it up by flipping the plates around and using a salvaged spring from an old clutch plate to put inside the stock one. I'm also waiting on shims from the dealer so I can up the breakaway torque a bunch so I don't need to worry about it anymore and I can just be done with it. The Kenda's definitely lived up to their reputation and were smoking like crazy and I only went through maybe 50% of the rears in 20 or so runs, and they didn't get greasy at all. Great tire for the price and I couldn't be happier with them.

I also took apart my Driftmotion catch can and made some homemade baffling:

CatchCan1.jpg

CatchCan2.jpg

I also made a little block off plate for the the hole where the ABS box was out of 70's Michigan license plate Absinthminded found in his garage of his old house:

BlockOffPlate.jpg

Hopefully I can have everything wrapped up in time for the next Drift Indy event on August 12th, but I still have a chattery throwout bearing that had been making noise even before the event but has progressively gotten louder every time I drive the car, which means I need to pull the engine and trans pretty soon here and get that thing taken care of before it turns around and leaves me stranded.

More shit that's been happening with the Biscuits:

Adios, bitch:

Finally got around to aligning the front:

Alignment1.jpg

Ordered some shims from the dealer and made an extra spring to bump up the breakaway torque that was plaguing me at the last event:

Diff1.jpg

Had tons of fun and got a lot better at the last event. Diff worked awesome and I ended up riding the wall all night long, but somewhere between drifting with 4 people in the car and tandeming with my buddies '79 Volvo 240 this happened:

Then, second to last run of the night this happened:

TieRod1.jpg

TieRod2.jpg

This almost stranded me 3.5 hours from home at 11:30pm but luckily there was a 24hr Autozone that just so happened to have one tie rod end in stock that was 10 minutes away. Lucked out big time and took me like 30 minutes to fix and I ended up getting back around 4:30am.

Finally some more progress on the VG34 powered Grey Goose (just for you Kyle ;)):

That's not gonna happen. Everything is still apart and out of the car. Working on putting in the hydro and rebuilding the steering rack right now and the motor/trans won't be going in until I get a new shift fork, which I'm in the process of getting right now.

P.S. I can't find anything about the event you're talking about. Should send me some info on it so I can come out next season or maybe one last time this year.

was that a marlin crawler piece u broke in the tranny?

Yeah, it was the billet shift fork they make. Had only 3,000 miles or so on it and boom, it blew up.
