jackc 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2013 Nope, still lame twins. Picking up an SAFC II this weekend then I'll have everything I need for the single swap except for the turbo. Probably will happen sometime this summer, given that my tranny doesn't explode. Feels like its on the way out. Nathan the rear isn't that bad just most of the tabs are broken. jackc 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2014 I guess I'll do an update here, its been a while. Basically I drove the hell out of the car all summer and it was rad. Now its storytime. Tried to tow it out to Chicago at the end of last season with a borrowed truck and dolly. Made it to Regina (which is like 8 hours east of where I live for you murricans) and then popped the transfer case. Never heard of GM pump rub until that night. Ended up sleeping in the truck on the side of the highway about 40km outside the city. Unhooked the dolly and had a buddy pull the car into town while a tow truck pulled in my busted rig that wasnt mine. After a day of weighing my options I decided to stay in Regina and not go to Club FR. I was simply too broke to fix the truck and make it there and back. Talked to my homie who owned the truck and we decided I'd stay in town and try and sell it for whatever I could get, then just drive the car home. I have some friends out there so a week in Regina wasnt too bad. Got $800 for the truck as it sat.So here I was in Regina with a shitload of tires and nothing to do so of course we went out street drifting hard every night to make up for no Club FR Jam. It was actually a blast. On the last day I packed up my car and left the dolly. The boys were going to come through on the way back and just strap it on one of the flatdecks for me. Easy right? About 2 hours into my drive on the way home I get smoke coming from my center console. Fuck. I was pretty sure it was coming from the shifter so i pulled off all the interior trim while driving. I dont run the rubber boots (just shift boot) so I was able to see the tranny right away. The second I pulled the knob and boot off I was greeted with tranny fluid. Fucking everywhere. All over my car and landing on my arm and burning the shit out of it so I pull over right away. I can hear metal bouncing around in the trans. Its fucked. Im fucked. I get out. Yell lots. Its hot as fuck out which isnt helping. Try and call the buddy I was staying with, no service. So I start walking. After about 30 mins of walking I make it to the top of a hill where I can finally barely get a call out and my buddy drives 2 hours each way to come save me. I lock the car and leave it on the side of the road. We went and got steaks that night and I got really drunk.Next day I have to get a uhaul truck as its the only way I can go save my car. None of my friends had trucks out there and I needed to be back in time for work. I was screwed. The only uhaul truck I could get was a cube van for $1200 FUCKING DOLLARS ONE WAY. With no choice I put the $800 bucks I got from the broken pickup sale that was supposed to go to my friend towards it. Hooked the dolly up to the uhaul and went out that morning hoping my car was good. Two hours later I'm back at my car on the side of the road. Loading it solo was fucking sketchy. The side of the highway was sloped like crazy and I had to get under to disconnect the driveshaft. It was also like +34C, I thought I was going to go crazy. After another little bit I finally get it all buttoned up and get the damn thing home. After explaining to my friend why I left with his truck and came back with nothing, I threw the car in the garage and gave it a big FUCK YOU. I haven't even looked at it til a couple weeks ago. Recovering financially from that fucking sucked. I would have spent way less had I just made it to Chicago without issue. Ah well. Lots of lessons learned. Here's some pics in no particular order. Some from that nightmare trip and some random. So there's a hotboyz video in the works, I'll post it up when its all done. Should be rad. Plans for the car are to get the trans sorted out, bodywork, new body parts to change the look up, new wheels, respray, more pinstripes etc etc. I'm going to pull the motor soon too and get that mess of a bay dealt with with and cleaned up.
