Supercharged 1UZ/MX83/5sp[R154] new project

Recommended Posts

Soo,,i have sold the 1JX8 and bought a 1UZX8 last week on Teusday night. She is very scrappy and a bit on the nose with the clear coming of the paint, but i am becoming attactched already.

Hear are some pic's of when i first got it and now with lowered kings/kybs fitted to the rear.i havent had time to get the fronts in yet as i have been trying to get rid of the smell.

then lowered

First serious $$ spent will be on a 5sp conversion kit from Bullet cars in QLD and i have already purchased the Eaton M90 which should arrive next week.

She is in dire need of some paint remedy but that can wait.

So what does the peeps think??

I saw the gold wheels, and began to lose hope.

But then you put the other ones on, and all is right again.

Looking forward to updates on this one, especially if you end up doing 5spd and blown.

I actually thought from the pics i saw before i bought it that it was gunmetal grey. Then when it arrived with the gold wheels already on,i found it was poo brown,,which i now refer to as chocolate brown.

At first i didnt like the colour but it is growing on me.The few sections of paint that are ok on the car dont look that bad so if i get it painted i will stick to the choc.

Yes,yes,i know it isnt low enuf for the majority of peeps on here but if you look at the before/after pics it looks better than what it was when it first arrived.

The 5spd swap is first on the list after i get the lowered front struts in.That will definately be happening,,though i am a little worried about the W58 that i will be using. When the SC goes on and she starts to make some serious torque,i dont know if she will survive the abuse, but i cant afford a R154 atm so wtf.

I have bought it now so the decision has been made as far as the box

I also bought a stainless 3" system with a cannon and hi-flo cat that came off a 1J.I have spent the morning getting some very minor mods to fit it up to the stock UZ headers and it turned out well.Sounds freaking great!!

I also had to have another problem rectified where the headers on the drivers side would foul the steering assembly under hard acceleration. We just put a spacer under the mount on the right to lift the engine up 6mm or so on the drivers side. Thanks again Sasha.Happy days:cool:

As far as mating the 5sp to the UZ I am just going to buy the conversion kit from Bullet which comes with a flywheel/clutch and bellhousing ready to bolt up to the box and donk.

Some updates..

Been getting restless waiting for tax time to come around and i can get the 5spd in.So i have set out to recondition my wheels which have gutter rash, alloy corrosion and could do with a tidy up.

This is the corrosion i was taking about

09072009842.jpg

13072009854.jpg

09072009835.jpg

It took ages taking all the nuts and bolts out to remove the centre

09072009840.jpg

I then took to the rim with 270 to try and remove the marks and scratches.

09072009837.jpg

They are not finished yet but starting to look alot better and you get the idea.I will keep rubbing em back until the marks are out and then use 320,400,800,1200.2000.Then paint with clear.

09072009838.jpg

I havnt decided on the colour of the centres yet.

I have almost finished the wheels.

I have painted the centres black and continued taking the lips back to 2000 and then metal polish by hand.I havent taken out all the gutter rash but they look way better now,and a little different as well.98% finished just got to hand polish the small lip around the outside of the centre where the bolts go thru and get em on the car and start the other two.

Now i have done these two and know whats involved i reckon another 3-4 days before they are done.

Buy the way it cost around $15-20 sandpaper,$40 paint for two

Check em out!!

before the 2000 and hand polish

and after

28072009919.jpg

I also tried these on the car with unknown offset and width,,,275 tyres just scrubing a little on the gaurd...Nufin a bit of a roll wouldnt fix.

Ever heard of these

You can also see some new panels, doors and interior pieces i have bought recently. The roof and rear 1/4r's will be matched to that colour

I have now bought a new KKR 560 turbo i found for a good price so i havent fully decided which way to go yet.

I just want this freakin R154 in once i get the money for the conversion kit ,then i can start trancing out on which way to go.

if you took the wheel bolts out with air in the tires without checking to see if they were 3 piece. you have balls man. those turned out nice.

Ws will blow the fuck up under the torque.

Rs will probably hold the power a bit better, but they're not nearly as abundant as the...

350Z transmission, for which there is already a conversion kit available, AND they are capable of handling upwards of 700hp and 550+ tq

I re-sealed the rim and had tyres put on but the rears were gettin cut up.So i took it to get the gaurds rolled.I need to get me one of them there gaurd rollers. What a quick and easy job it was,and i could have almost bought one for what i paid.Could probably get some more out of the gaurds with some heat and maybe have to use a metal roller instead of the standard nylon one.

Here are some various pics.[still no lowered suspension]

You can see some two paint chips, one from dropping a socket and a big one around the centre cap bit on the drivers side.
