The bolt pattern should be the same.. but im thinkin the length and the machining on the actual mounting may be different.. (the MA70 bolt INTO the flanges not through. . .. and they should be longer.. ) dunno if that makes a difference. i could prolly just use and MA70 inner withh an MX73 shaft/outer. . BUt i still gotta buck up for that fukcin diff. . they are super rare.. and i have no idea how much they gonna cost to ship. . cuz they're like 100 lbs.. guess ill find out. . for now im gonna get my LSD one welded up. . see how long that'll last. .should be OK till I run fatter tires. . My neighbour has a Blown Big Block Z28 on 275/40ZR18 T/A-KD's(the super sticky ones) and he runs a spool on the street. .That gives me a little confidence running welded on the street. .

Couple of things

A) I brought this to your attention 2 months ago here

http://jzxproject.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=217&start=15

But you never saw it.

B) That 'other' diff you've shown, is a T series, not an F series

http://conceptual.net.au/~peewee/diff/T_vs_F_1.jpg

(F series on the right)

Whether the G diff will bolt straight to the MX73 underpan, I don't know.

I saw one on yahoo auctions, but it would have cost well over $1000AUD by the time it was at my door, and then I'd still be left withh an old clutch LSD that needs rebuilding.

It looks similar enough that maybe just some redrilling and hammering should get it in there.

And yes, MX83's use 6bolt halfshafts.

yeah. that is the one. . "8 inch diff" that WILL bolt in. . if not. . its a hell of a lot closer than an MA70 diff which is what im leaning towards.. I didn't see the rest of that post.. and yeah. those are on yahoo. . but insanely pricey. . like. almost more pricey than fabricating a subframe to mount an MA70 whole housing. . which are pretty much free. and if you blow one up (the whole thing) then you are NOt shit outta luck. . The idea of a complete bolt in affair is very attractive though. . albeit pretty much unobtainable. ... . fuck. all for the love of '73's.. . stupid '83 chassis is sooo much better. . if only they didn't look like complete ass. . even done up they dont have the same aggressive old school boxy look. . oh well. welded it is. .

The 8" MX73 diff should be internally identical to the MX83/MA70 diff.

So unless you shatter the housing, you can easily get replacements.

After cutting up your v160........ how did everything work together. I'm just curious if it still shifts the same, shifts better, worse, if it shortened the shift at all. Did you shorten the shafts from the tranny to the v160 assembly. Post pics if you have them.

Also, I have to agree withh you. The bosy bodystyle of the X71 kicks the X81s butt...... If only you could shove JZX100 components under that square body :)......... might as well swap an X70 body over to an X100 frame at that point (far easier said than done... imagine the fabrication and re-engineering, but a tantalizing thought).

Are you going to upgrade the brakes at all.... possible a 5 lug conversion of sorts, using Toyota peices (if it is at all possible). And what suspension are you planning on running?

Ok, enough questions.

K all very valid questions.. i dont actually have any new pics.. Havent really been working on the car much.. The car has been put on the backburner a little bit due to financial situation. . (you'd think building unique high horsepower cars for a living would fuckin pay a little better. ) Ths shifter assembly is not done.. One of the main reasons i did the modifications to the shifter housing was the sheer sloppiness of the standard shifting EVEn withh the B&M shifter.. The brakes are planned, the 5 bolt is planned, the suspension is started, everything is fukcin planned and engineered I juts dont have the $$ to do it properly and quickly. . so its just gonna take really fuckin long. hahah

The only update I have is my radiatior.. It is sorta V/flat mounted. . its an aluminum unit (universal) 16x28 inches. . 3inches thick twin core. . beefy unit .. should cool the 1J sufficiently. . the top (actually the bottom cuz its mounted upside down) is right behind the rebar. .( at the bottom of the grill.) . and the bottom of the rad sits just below the crank pulley. . it will be getting 100% of the air from BELOW the bumper. . (im not planning to use the stock front bumper for too long) VIA ductwork, and it has fans on the top of it. .(either twin 10" or a single 15") SO if you were to look into the opening below the bumper you could see the face of the rad going through the rad support at like a 20deg angle. . pretty trick.OBviously the reason for this is my top mounted intercooler. . Now.. another cool thing about the square 73 is the flat grill where basically the front of my intercooler sits at the top of. . angling down slightly at the back. .(there is no more rad support between the lights. .)All of the air from the grill goes through the intercooler (dont have that yet either) Then through the hood. .Its all gonna be ducted. . So each heat exchanger has its own fresh air supply and the intercooler piping will be less than 2 feet long TOTAL . . it should be very responsive. . Looks crazy too when you look into the grill you see the angled bottom of the intercooler withh the ductwork all fancy. .

I will post pics when i have some more. .jsut been busy withh the shop lately. . But for now I will post links to what i have been working on. .

This was our last dyno day

http://www.northwestnissans.com/board/showthread.php?t=36923

more pics of the skyline here http://www.pbase.com/suomyairsoft/new_rims

That car is built 100% from the ground up by my shop. . supension, engine, interior, exterior etc.

This car is a little understated and MUST be seen/heard in person to truly appreciate. ..its all in the details. . If you look at the engine bay shots.. you will know why im having trouble building anything less than that. Lots of cars can boast more power more parts etc.. But as a package This car is something else. .Cutting corners is not my nature, especially on my own car. Do it Proper, or dont do it at all. .

Till next update..

werd.

Need updates............. what happened?

Can't wait to see this thing complete.

Did you find any good Aero, or are you going to do some custom work for that? Wheels and suspension? Single turbo conversion?

Cmon, I've been dying to see what comes of this project.

Sorry all for the pics going down. . I have to use a new uploader and do it all again. . The old was dope to use.. but unfortunately.. went down . . I dont really have any updates.. The project is kind of on hold for a little while. . But stay tuned. .

P.S. MY avatatar is NOT an X car. . it is a MAJESTA. .JZS155/UZS151. .Its my favorite big body TOYOTA. . . .and my old avatar stopped working..

Don't diss the Boso look, I agree its beyond ridiculous on some cars, but the mild looking ones are sweet. The extended hood gives it that old staunch BMW look.

I find it rather odd that he fiberglassed right over the old paint.... even the advan logo. I'd love to see a boso cressida in the States. Wonder if any bodyshops would attempt it.

WOW, very nice Soarer (has anyone put a Soarer front end on their Cressida (x8??), similar to the Soapras (Soarer front end grafted onto a Supra JZA70)? Also, he made the fingernail flares work very well, I just don't like the paint.

'dat be a 5M/6M. Is that a sequential setup I spy? It looks like one turbo is bigger than the other, might be the camera angle.

I'm curious what kind of bottom end that is running.... or if that setup is only for show. Those are some pretty large turbos, and I'd be willing to bet that if its really built to use them, its making nearly 500hp.

I'm surprised noone has flamed me for digging Bosozoku cars.
