r2d2michael 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2019 figured i would start a build thread. most of the work has already been done so ill post some pics along the way.bought this 1979 cressida around 6 years ago bone stock. ran like dick and had this strange gunk all over the car. but was overall in pretty good shape for its age. 1st thing i did was convert to a weber 32/36 carb. the carb: https://postimg.cc/qtmT7hpv http:// then i started to get this gunk off. the original owner said he washed it with a concert cleaner of some sort. took a gallon of goof off remover and countless rags to wipe it off. then had serveral cutting and buffing layers done. http:// http:// http:// http:// you can see where i had wiped off that shit. eventually it was kinda shiny. http:// drove that for 6 months then a rod bearing said see u later http:// bought another 4m and made a "good" out of the 2 that i had with a good head and good block http://http:// never put that one in.(probably would have failed anyway cuz i had no clue what i was doing) sold it to a guy with a 67 crown looking to upgrade from his 2m. i bought a few 2jzge's over the years but never put them in. i moved several times then finally had a good garage again. i then bought a vvti 2jzgte. added a s257xe borg, fuse fab manifold and a no name intake manifold. http:// http:// basically swapped out all my suspension for T3 stuff along the way too. http:// http:// http:// http:// wanted to keep auto but ended up converting to a r154 using a OS Giken Super Single with movement alteration kit. http:// had a 1 piece drive shaft made http:// http:// used a mx83 clutch pedal and master. bolted right up. only had to make a top mount for the 3rd bolt location. http:// http:// http:// put the battary in the back with disconnect and a fused relay for the fuel pump near fuel pump, http:// used a PANIC wire harness with the link g4+ monsoon ecu http:// wired up some gauges for the dash http:// took the car to fuse fabrication for custom radiator, inter cooler, pipes, fuel cell, basically all the metal stuff. http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// i did practice on a 1987 x7 cressida that i traded my 82 corona wagon for. bought a gs300 2jzge/auto from a buddy that already had a panic harness made for a 87 x7. swapped that in and finished the other bits that needed to me done. drove that for over a year then sold to another buddy to buy yet another Cressida. sold it for 3500 and used that plus more cash to buy a 78 x3 from a buddy. was already na-t 2jzge swapped and 400whp. i put a interior out of a x6 i had (got smashed by a dude driving on the shoulder). done small things to it. was a good stepping stone to driving higher hp cars. Before i even started the 79 x3 i bought a 1990 corolla to learn 5 speed on. i had never owned or driven anything besides autos. i did have some experience on a bike but very limited. after being confident enough driving that i felt like i could drive the 78 x3 so i bought it. driving the 78 x3 really got me motivated to finish my 79 x3. http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// took the car to PSI in Portland for a tune after i got my wheels on. http:// http:// http:// right now shes at 475whp 400ish tq at 18psi. currant projects are a for 8.8 rear end swap with better breaks http:// http:// over the winter i did get all the front end stuff replaced : vvti gear, solenoid, filter and all needed gaskets o rings, front main seal, cam seals, new water pump, new tensionor and pulleys. tried to replace the crank pulley with a fluidamper one but my lower cover has swollen and is rubbing. so ill put that one after i replace the lower cover. http://

battleaxe 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2019 Looks like a couple parts catalogues. That filter is a joke...what's going on there? Let that thing breathe
r2d2michael 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2019 Hmm the whole next half didn't post lol I'll have to update it later Gordo, the OEM carb I sold with the 4m to the crown guy. Then another guy bought the Weber Battleaxe, I had that filter on the self so used it. I'm aware of the shityness of it. But she did make 475hp at 18psi with it on there. WhoreMouth_Jr 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2019 Should pick up covers for those pedals. Get an extra one and trim your brake pedal to also accept one. It's a game changer. But I'm also probably the only idiot driving barefoot
