bigtoepfer 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 Supposedly restaurants here are "50% cap" but if you look at the parking lot they aren't hurting for business and looking a lot more like 100% to me. Not a single place to park at the local IHOP or Texas Roadhouse Steak place. And this isn't even good food. Like WTF.
ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2020 It is pretty crazy to be honest, The stupid part here is we have stupid Australians who watch too many youtube videos on conspiracies etc and are quoting American law/rights to police and then the police just give them a wack, arrest them and they cry, the victim. it's just stupid. i have had to delete friends off and they have deleted me for calling out some of the stupid things they have said. Had one try and relate Covid to an artificial intelligence exercise to grab data from people. but you can normally relate to those people who are a little simple-minded and cant have there mind changed due to factual information. I guess your troubleshooting/scientific mindset you could call it.
Nigel_Vertigo 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2020 The interesting thing it reveals is how people almost universally distrust the government and the media.
ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2020 The media/government can go each way. like in Australia, media is reporting stats. now we all know stats can be viewed a 1000 different ways. like you can flip a basic report to show you are failing and these are your worst items, but if you flip it the other way this is your wins and best sales. the same goes for our COVID data, they are reporting a basic 24 hour period, how many tests they did and how many people have covid. but then you get idiots, complaining that the data is miss leading, it is not measurable. well technically it is not but if you want the full data you just need to go to the source and that is our deaths, marriages and births site. like you can't expect a media outlet to do a report that suits everyone, our government is pretty good to like things happen etc, but overall you can't really complain about Australia. people sook about immigrants but give it a generation and it is normally fine after that. for example mum/dad both immigrated in the 70s, both copped the whole Australia vs wog thing (don't know if you know the term wog in America just means European pretty much) skip a generation to me, and i never copped it, the whole thing was Asians being the problem. skip the next generation Asians are fine and it is afghans/middle east the problem. i think our school system is what makes it good, like everyone sort of has to play together and parents sort of just end up going with the flow, like if you kid brings someone home you sort of look after them as you would want their family to your kid. . in saying all this though, i was lucky enough to grow up in the most multi cultural part of Victoria. ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2020 Anyway, while I typed the above response I had a delivery arrive. swift springs so now my rear springs are complete and just awaiting my weld in inserts. stupid COVID slowed postage of that right down.

I'm 100% certain that kids in school generally aren't racist. They are taught to be that way a home or by others who were similarly taught. Given a bunch of kids in a room of different skin tones at age 5 and they won't care. Most likely same at age 10. Especially if for the most part they have been exposed to that. A multi-ethnic society generally doesn't and shouldn't have problems with that. The old people are the ones that cause the problems. Now if you plop down a kid of any color that's not Asian in a Japanese elementary school you'd get a different reaction. Because that's a mono-ethnic society and there are still kids who have never met an *insert ethnicity here* and it shows because they will stare. Kids around here don't really have that problem. I grew up around black kids because the Elementary I went to was 60% black because of the location. But when I asked to go to my friends birthday party in 3rd grade my dad didn't want to let me go. He was racist and my friend was black. I did eventually go because my mom told my dad I had already RSVPd or whatever. Dad was pissed. HA! Also seeing you get springs makes me really want to get my suspension setup going. I can finally drive the car. Now I need to make it low.

LUMBERZACK 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2020 Looking forward to the future progress. Three builds to update is a lot of work lol.
ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2020 To be honest, I'm working on one more so than the rest, I just buy items for the others when a bargain comes along. So Project Binchicken for example, I needed to buy new rear doors, bonnet for it, so I decided to mould these items so Blackbird can get the Carbon/fibreglass makeover. I Have a Yamaha front spoiler and I'm a little scared to use it, so making a replica of it and will use it on the street ETC. the X3, is pretty much waiting on 8 threaded inserts and lockdown to end. ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2020 some of these updates have already been posted here, but was easier for me to copy and paste So here is my update when where I'm at given the present COVID/Melb Restrictions. After months and months, my swift springs arrived, it was a hard choice on what spring rate to go considering IRS Swap, MX32 etc. no real information to go, I did some research based on MA61/X7s and cars of the same weight like Silvias and opted to start with an 8KG spring. Current engine status? Well, one step forward two steps back? No, No Removed the ITB just before lockdown and dropped them off to EFI hardware to get DBW swap done. (See Facebook link below) I have added in some digital sensors, Why it is just a 2JZGE? The whole reason was to set this car up for the future as well as a spare parts engine for my other car's. If something goes wrong, I can remove a part and test it on another engine for troubleshooting. I have upgraded to Bosch wideband knock sensors and installed the Greddy Sandwich plate. The plan is to run Oil pressure on the hole you can see. The original plan was to run temp on the one you cant, but having to line the bolt up perfect for allowing that port to get oil I have changed my mind and have opted to go with a speed flow fitting with a port on it and screw it on the central outlet fitting. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=195546038168351&extid=jR4W7VgIyT49lLfa I have fitted the X6 interior items, nothing crazy changes other than armrest and headrests at the back and of course style. Oh, and engine mounts have started.
bigtoepfer 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2020 I need to either source some nice X6 seats or just figure out how to go about installing my recaros in my wagon. I think I'd enjoy the recaros more though to be honest.
ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2020 I have the X6 seats to pass engineering, I also have a TRD Bucket and well..... stock X3 rail bolted up so that was a huge win.
bigtoepfer 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2020 I'm considering seeing if the rails will bolt up to my recaros. I've got LS-C in orange gradient that I think would look good in the wagon. Plus they are comfortable.
ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2020 So went to trail fit my Struts and well lower bush does not fit, another case of the internet says it is a bolt-on swap and well......... that definition of bolt-on is very different for some people on the side of good news, after months of waiting for the weld in threads, they are here. So this will allow me to bolt in the MX41 rear diff subframe to give the stock appearance. the front ones are probably overkilled but they will allow me to bolt in AE86 Caster/tension mounts opening up the world for aftermarket items. Still, three weeks lockdown before anything crazy can happen but pretty happy that the parts collection is getting there enough where all the custom stuff is completed and it is a case of buying off the shelf items. ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2021 No real updates, EFI Hardware is shitting me, ITB linkages hit coolant/heater pipe. so i need to redesign how the linkages work and EFI Hardware won't communicate back. for something, they advertise as bolt-on it hardly works. its summertime here, and with newborn/Christmas and NYE holidays i have not looked at the car, i have been designing rear arms for the X8. I'm currently bidding on some tension rods for the X3 though. so if i win them i will start working on the X3 again but yeah overall, this ITB kit has really been a kick in the nuts and i regret buying EFI's kit due to the lack of help once i walk out the door. Demesio 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2021 Interesting how you didn't go with the OEM sensors that work from factory.
ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2021 8 hours ago, Demesio said: Interesting how you didn't go with the OEM sensors that work from factory. I wanted spares for my other car. majority of the sensors, coil packs etc are overkill for this engine. but if something fail's on my other two car's at least I have emergency parts for trouble shooting or to get me out of a bind. there is no other reason behind it. WhoreMouth_Jr 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2021 Let me know how the cam sensor is. One of mine is leaking oil. Went to try to replace the o-ring to realize it's actually part of the sensor, and I'd have to replace the whole thing

ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2021 well, i got ITB all working well. took a bit of work a couple of extra parts etc but its setup and does not fowl anything like it did before. DBW just needs to be mounted and chuck on a couple more sensors and shes good to go ITB < Link to video, unsure if it will work due to being off Facebook. bigtoepfer 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2021 Beautiful. Are you running an OEM gastank or a fuel cell? Currently I've got OEM in my wagon of course(I like being able to have the spare tire tucked up in side of it), but I'm trying to figure out what to run for a charcoal canister aka evap canister. Not for emissions reasons because I don't have that where I live, but for fuel reasons. I lose fuel to evaporation and my tank burps fuel if I'm not super careful. Or takes a while to replace all the air inside while I let it equalize. Just wondered if you were gonna run something up front or going with a whole different fuel cell setup as I'm trying to figure out what to use.
ROBAPHENT 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2021 I will be running an S13 fuel tank. been advised it fits with the lengthening of one strap. but i have been advised a lot of things fit. i have not looked into much of the stuff i may or may not need for engineering was just going to build it how i want then add what i need for our EPA. witch should be catalytic convertor, muffler etc to keep it under 90db, password on ECU. Exhaust 5mm away from the steering column. and nothing much more as i have not gone nuts cutting up chassis etc. if i was going to go and put a evap canister in i would prob use a motorbike one like the ducati one due to the size etc. i could tuck it in a nice spot and have it look semi neat. bigtoepfer 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2021 Someone once told me to look for Yamaha R1 or something like that, But they just had used something similar on a Honda. But this looks like a good option too. Guess I'll have to start looking and just pull the trigger on one on ebay or something. Then mock it up and and see how I can make it fit. Was probably me on X3 group. pretty much any motorbike one is good. the R1 came in two styles one like the ducati and one like this. the below link is my fav due to size/style. very simple https://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-2001-Yamaha-R1-Fuel-Smog-Evap-Charcoal-Emissions-Canister-OEM-/372752335737
