ryojikaji 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2017 Hey it's been a while. I'm curious which model of jzx90 you guys prefer and why? Is there any reason to buy one over the other besides looks? TourerV is a must, but I'm still up in the air about manual or auto. The manual will be less work for me, but the auto will be less beat on. Can you recommend any trustworthy importers? I want to buy directly from Japan because the prices here are fucking stupid. There is a Chaser in Seattle going for 16k! Here's a rough example of what I'm looking for. What do you think? http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/usedcars/TOYOTA/MARK_II/700054080330170630003/index.html
WhoreMouth_Jr 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2017 I think kyle's brought a few japan cars into Texas. I almost had him bring me a gx71 chaser but then I smartened up. He should be able to help you out
NAC 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2017 Other than looks, there is the whole sedan vs hardtop thing. I think it's the same as x100s with the 90s. Cresta is sedan, mkii and chaser are hardtop? Could be wrong... I'd personally find a manual swapped auto tourer v or get an auto and then swap it here. Kyle is a rad dude, I'd give him moneys if I were you. battleaxe 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2017 the american prices are mental. the canadians have been exploiting this too i guess and have been upping their prices and our prices have thusly gone up too. the whole YJ market has gone up about 30% since JDMs have been legal for import to the USA and all the wheels and interior goods and all that shit are much more expensive now. wolfreign seems to be the "hip" importer currently but i have no idea how much they charge or their service etc. im sure theres tons of importers who charge huge fees. to me all the jzx90 are the same platform wise, just a matter of what you like visually. Space Case 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2017 All 3 cars are sedans, all have a B-pillar. Automatics are gay. $16K USD is gay. Mark IIs are the most common, but are going up in price because they arguably look the best. They usually go for less than 5K USD at auction, for 5 speed cars... Provide cars is a export/auction company I've had good success with. PM me if you want more info. DO NOT use sites like goo or tradecarview. Those are basically the equivalent of craigslist. You CAN get deals once in a while, but most stuff is overpriced shit targeted towards unwitting importers.
shlammed 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2017 its pretty cheap if your willing to do some work yourself though. when I bought a jdm car (10 years ago) shipping with roll-on, roll off is ~$1000 port to port. much better than a shipping container where they ghetto stack cars and dent roofs, damage panels, toss in a jdm engine, etc. shipping within the states has to be cheaper than within Canada, but I paid $800 shipping from Vancouver port and had the car delivered to my door in rural eastern Ontario Canada. finding a broker in japan im sure you can luck out or ball out.... in my case it was roughly $500 for him to bid and get the car into the port for me. Beyond that I had to have some Japanese documents translated for $80 being that it needed a special seal of approval and normal inspections for registration. Importers are making a killing. there is a reason they are making money and its because people are lazy. its just a ton of emails and a few money transfers and 2 months later a car shows up at your door. NAC 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2017 Pretty sure roro is no longer $1k...I think my buddy who imports last mentioned it at 3, but that could have been his cost including all the menial stuff as well? I still agree that the importers in the states are setting prices too high, but as long as dumb people buy em, it will stay that way.
battleaxe 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2017 nope its still 1k. the guys doing it locally. island and mainland are making hge money because all theyre doing is exporting to the states all of our old shitty jdms which were 7k here in 2010 and are now somehow worth 15kUS down south. few guys i know just got their cars and its still 1k, and your typical 500 for a guy to bid, unless you have your own ability. shlammed it right, all those numbers agree to mine and im in BC. the 800 across canada is sadly been the same since my parents did that BC to Ontario back in 1990 lol

NAC 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2018 I know a few people in Van that might be able to help you out. I am not so sure though...Try Mike from EATI, I used to have his number but I seemed to have misplaced it. Here is his fb to try and contact him. He brought in my 100 and was legit to work with on that purchase.Andrew Guo is also fairly competent at importing, but (justifiably so, I guess) tends to tack on larger fees since the dumb rich Van people will happily pay that BS. So that might not make sense for this scenario.
Tbone 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2018 Thanks guys I will look into the options you suggested I should call the S9 boys and get their opinion as well seeing as they have imported quite a few vehicles from Japan. Gordon made a really good point in a pm.Considering the car doesn't run.Importing it is probably going to be more difficult. I guess ro ro wouldn't even be possible considering i don't think it rolls lol.
battleaxe 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2018 streeter has been great for prices and service and contact. he just doesnt do kits, engines or cars. does everything else. whats your bad experience with streeter gordo? if a car doesnt run or move, it will be the most insane amount of money and headache to get it here. youd be better off going there yourself and fucking around with it..its a moot point
Tbone 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2018 "Moot point" The story of my life lol. Yeah time to give my head a shake.Buying this corona is a total pipe dream. I figured the fact it doesn't run would be a deal breaker.
Gordo 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2018 What I've been observing with mr. streeter, is that if you want to blindly purchase something out of Japan, that is expensive, and he can make a pile of $$ on, he gets it. But if it's some used piece, that is just a few hundred bucks, it isn't worth his time, and he will put little effort into getting it. Numerous times I've seen this. He is told to bid on an item on YJP, for X amount, and he will bid early, for a lesser amount, with the outcome being it is lost to someone else, or he wins for less than the requester had put as a limit, but then he charges the full amount. On top of that, he is now selling Chinese crap on YJP, with a huge mark up. And in this day & age where there are so many agents who will broker everything out of Japan, I don't see any reason to put up with his bull shit. Hell, even Yahoo themselves offer forwarding service for the auctions over there (Buyee), which is at the top of every auction listing, in English! And people like RHD-Japan's auction bidding service, who I used to grab my 6-speed trans, and Robert at EP Importing, who I use for all my wheels, kart engines, LSDs, body work, etc., does an excellent job. I tried streeter once, to get a 'glass vented hood, and he failed. When another popped up, an e-mail to Robert at EP, and in 2 weeks I had my hood at my door. Rue just got fucked by streeter on a rare 8" X7 diff. It was lost to some other bidder due to streeter short bidding. There are much better ways to get stuff out of Japan than the over hyped jesse streeter. But he is a fanboy hero, and knows how to troll the newbs, kind of like the Pied Piper wana-be import owners. battleaxe 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2018 I've bought a bunch of things from him. Ranging from a few bucks to a thousand or whatever. He has always bid the amount I asked to max bid. He even bids more without me paying him if I ask him to do so. After X amount of money he makes a flat percentage of like 10% below that it's not much money. It's true he bids early, more likely because of the amount of ppl he bids for. He has never missed a bid or done it late. I email back and forth and he gets back to me instantly pending he's awake. I've always paid the agreed amount of the item and he gives details on the fees, interjapan shipping, his fee and shipping to you, all plain and simple easy to read and understand. On top of that he's gone to the store to pick out an assortment of candies and magazines I asked for and he didnt charge me his fee. I can only assume other than rue, all those others are retarded..as I do this via Gmail and sometimes even I get lost in the email structure but he always does exactly what I ask. As for rue, I have no idea. He told me how bidding g late doesn't have much of an effect due to the auction structure on yj. He has bid late on my request on a particular item. I do get bidding late feels better especially for an item that will see only a few bids or the item remains cheap to 1 day remaining with no bids.
Space Case 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2018 Tbone i already told you like everything i know about importing cars. Do it yourself. Its easy. Sign up with an auction house. And no, you cant get the car for 1K shipping. It costs about 3K to import a car to BC. This includes shipping, fees/tax/comission on the export side, fees/tax/road worthyness on the import side.
