Kyle Anson's Cresshita Build Thread

Recommended Posts

Scooped up some T3 RCA's for $60 and figured out why my suspension was all fucking wonky.

Bent inner tie rod and slightly buckled LCA.

Funny part is after i hit the curb while snow drifitng a few weeks back my steering wheel was sideways and pulling hard right. Took it for an alignment and they couldn't figure out what was bent and they told me they thought i bent a coil. i looked and the inner tie rod wasn't bent at that time. Went parking lot drifting and after wards it was all wonky again and i install my RCA's and *bam* i find this.

New moog wrx inners and X8 outers coming in the mail and a used LCA for free from a mate in CA. Should be fixed in ~2-3 days when they arrive from amazon.com

Side note: After the struggles with the 4runner, I'm done buying MOOG suspension anything that uses rubber bushings.

That is about all they are worth, even new....

T3 are by far my last option when it comes to RCAs. They sold me a brand new pair once that didn't clear my ball joint because they don't drill their centers all the way out (as the pictures on their site depicts.) They told me they could fix it for 40 dollars hah

0 problems with them so far. Machining works and lines up perfectly.

Xcessive ones are $152 new.

T3 ones are $90 new + S&H.

$60 is a deal.

Don't run a micrometer around the edges, that way you won't know how bad he machines shit.

But they are just fucking spacer blocks with alignment dowels on them.

Oh wait, his are not pressed in steel....just machined into the aluminum.

But don't worry, you will probably not shear them off by bumping a curb...or will you ?

Gordo, who makes the best RCA's then?

Shlammed, BC Extreme lows wont even get low enough in the front to where i want it be with 17's but 18's it would probably be perfect, but no the LCA doesn't hit frame as far as i can tell.

I like the design of the XM's. Not handled them personally, but Rue has, and he's happy with them.

I've got a set out of Japan back when they cared about the X8, but they ended up costing as much as XMs after shipping & agent fees.

Truthfully, I've never heard of anyone killing that red shit, just hate the short cuts he took making them.

I have seen aluminum locating edges shear, so if you take a hit, you should probably pull bolts & check them.

Serialnine use to make nice ones.

Unfortunately they no longer make them for the x83 :(

i have the s9 ones as well and theyre nice, very tight fit. i swear i bash and cut my hands everytime i touch them

the dampening relocaters are an idea that could work but they just tear and fail with use...or im just clumsy. i wish the fronts werent inverted so the dampening would be on top for simplicity, i dont care about that better performance

So when I said my LCA was slightly buckled. I lied. It was really fucked. I ordered 2 New LCA's on Amazon.com for $54.20 shipped.

Taxes came back so I spoiled myself and ordered a new 350 MM Sparco Wheel and NRG Hub & Quick release.

Took me what felt like 3 centuries to find kouki tails and a kouki center license plate garnish but I finally did.

I'm not much of a sticker guy, but My Buddy made a cool JZX slap and IG identifiers. So I could be identified by a photographer and tagged at the track. Also had some random locals start following me by seeing them on my car driving around town.

ig%20slap.jpg

Kyle Phelan hooked it up with a JZX81 front bumper.

I decided to go the PIR drag strip and see what times I put down and long story short I blew up my turbo right as I launched and I smoked out the entire drag strip and they had to let all the smoke dissipate before they resumed racing. I had a video but idk how to upload videos to here. RIP ME. I HAVE THE WORST LUCK WITH STOCK TURBOS. So luckily for me I found a guy selling a stock turbo for $50 and I installed it and its a pain in the ass due do me breaking the stock brittle oil drain hose and used some really heavy duty replacement hose from some industrial hose shop in Portland. It was not very flexible so we used a shovel for leverage to hold the turbo in place & force the hose to bend in the manner I wanted.

Celebratory burnout pic right after finishing swapping turbos on St. Patties.

Decided to drive the Dallesport drift event and I fit 8 spares in my Cressida along with camping supplies and I still had room for more.

Gotta love 4 doors. I also put a rear bumper on so I could fight a ticket WSP gave me. He gave me a modfied exhaust ticket and i had the ticket dropped due to a bit of research and this within the law (RCW 46.37.390):

"This subsection (3) does not apply to vehicles twenty-five or more years old or to passenger vehicles being operated off the highways in an organized racing or competitive event conducted by a recognized sanctioning body."

So fuck you WSP. I WIN.

Here's a shot of me waiting for tech inspections to begin.

Saturday was dry but I didn't get any photo's in the dry even though I felt I was driving better in the dry.

So all the photo's i got were of me in the rain and in the rain I was spin city, but I had some good runs.

I still suck but not nearly as bad.

I still have tons of room for progression and my goal is to drive as much this summer and sharpen up my skills.

I also seem to kill my PS pump at every event I attend. So i'm not sure whether it has to do with the fact that i was running PS fluid and not Dextron ATF like MFG suggests or I just need a PS cooler?

I sold my Honda Civic daily to some Mexican guy for his daughters first car. She was 19 and works at a sex/porn shop in Portland.

Now i'm on the hunt for a truck preferably a fairly priced Dodge Ram 2500 w/ a Cummins so I can do homeowner shit, tow my pile of shit car to the track and just do general hillbilly white people shit. #ROLLCOALBROTHER

Gordo, If I box the LCA's. what would happen if I hit something (Example: A Curb) what would break? would the lca survive but kill my subframe?

Don't hit curbs......

Better yet, don't drift places that there isn't run off area,

and/or get better at drifting.

You would have never survived running a flat track bike, where there were Armco barriers, and cement walls around the track.

There is such a thing as respect for what you are doing.

dont box those arms. in crashes you want shit to fold and not straight arm everything so everything breaks. going to different tracks is whats fun, cant go to all "safe" tracks gordo. lol, parking lot drifters hahahaha . even good drivers crash (into each other) or have oh shit moments among other things.

did you get the oem bumper support with your bumper? cut that middle section out for that flooooooow.

the oem PS pump is braced by the AC compressor and its bracket, if you take that off, it needs lower support. XM makes them, but its a super simple thing to make, i made one for mine in 10min. JZ pumps are also notorious for dying, and i feel many of those that die are because ppl take the AC off and dont brace it. that cooler wont help the underlying issue, and that cooler would only "help solve" if you have a boiling issue...which is usually a kinked or bent line... fucking people over thinking simple problems and band aiding them and never actually finding the source of the problem

Dexron is important. Don't run ps fluid, I have no idea if it'll kill pumps but I do know you'll fuck the seals in your ps system.

Killed one pump on PS fluid, switch to Dex and never looked back 40k miles ago

Seriously Dex ATF worked wonders on all PS systems i've messed with, well Toyota ones at least even when some of the shitty "power steering" fluid was still left in.

I only have my LCA's boxed where i extended them just because i don't trust only welds holding them together.

Plus some side plating inside where the tie rod hits and outside plating on the opposite side and i think this is even overkill.

P.S. glad you enjoy that center garnish.
