I picked up a GX470 today.  Gonna get back to offroading and take my kid camping.  Same way I grew up.   Maybe I'll import a verossa in a few years.

@Jason Picked up a 2006 GX470 in black with good paint and 226k miles.  The first owner did a good job of taking care of it and getting it serviced at lexus.  Originally in New Orleans then Houston.  The interior has a tiny crack in the back of each of the front seats but other than that it's minty inside considering the mileage and how the GX/LX seats fall apart.  The dash was also replaced under warranty so it's mint.  This was a non-nav model and the previous owner put a cheap sony double din in.  It works for now.

The previous owner was a BMW 3-series fuckboi and wanted to dabble in the landcruiser offroad world.  🤦‍♀️
He owned it for about six months and then got a new job and needed a truck.  At least that was his explanation of needing to sell it.  He and his dad did the majority of the maintenance themselves, oil changes etc.    He also put on Eibach suspension and deleted the bags.  And for some reason put on this very ill fitting DV8 2nd gen tacoma bumper.    It works for now and I'll either modify it to actually fit, or I'll sell it and get a bumper I actually want.  Because there are a few that I really like.  I'd also like to get a winch at some point.  Something I wish I'd kept off of my FJ Cruiser but was just too lazy to take off.  It's also got 265/70/17 falkens and TRD Pro wheels.  So it looks like a black on black hate crime right now.  He deleted 80% of the chrome trim and put this black trim on that 75% of doesn't fit properly.  So I'll be sourcing new chrome trim eventually because I prefer that look.

Overall just want to make it an offroader and camping vehicle thats more comfortable and equally as capable as my old FJ Cruiser was.

I support this. I've been thinking about these and 460's. I can't justify the out of pocket expense. $15k cash for something 20 years old with only slightly less milage than my 4runner. $35k for newer but still 100k miles and similar fuel costs. Also, they're both substantially wider than the 3rd gen 4Runner--fitting into my weird ass garage might not happen.

Throwing $5k at my truck would get me a decent refresh and another few years out of it. And I wouldn't have to sweat city parking or worry about city parkers.

@JasonThese days I miss my '92 SR5 Xtracab.  It was SASd with 3RZ and dual cases.  So much fun.  But it wouldn't have carried a kid in the back seat.  At least not for another 8 years or so.
I was shopping for this, a 4th gen 4runner or an LS430. 😅
Part of me wanted another cool car I could just slam and not have to worry about swapping the motor.  But the other part of me really wanted to get out off road and go take the family out for camping in our free time this summer. But in regards to the gas bill I'm not looking forward to it.  The plan is to leave it parked when I'm at work a just take my wifes prius for the 50~ mile round trip commute.  And use this for extended road trips where we need more space for luggage or people, and when we want to go somewhere that we can go off the beaten path and have some fun.  Otherwise hopefully for the majority of the time the prius will get most of the miles.  My wife is working from home right now so it works out well.  She can take it in the off chance she needs to run somewhere while I'm at work.
