Premature jz-ulation

Alright guys it's going down I totally need my hand held

 

So I've never planned on 1jz swapping my x8 even when I bought so never really looked to hard into it.

Anyway just sold my rx7 bought back my x7 and got to $2k in hand to start my x8 build.

 

First of all i live in LA county and have tons of importers to check out motors, but here's my question is there any thing to look for on vvti 1jz's that should make me pass? I'm talking about turbo jz specific stuff I've bought a few motors and lots of cars so I can usually spot issues but ive never bought anything turbo so I could use advice on that.

 

Also am i missing anything on my "super budget staying auto let's hope this motor is good cause I'm only changing the oil" kit?

 

Front sump 1jzgte vvti w/auto or at least bellhousing (1400 or less)

Xcessive mounts (100?)

Intercooler with piping (500 or less)

Engine harness from Mark (?)

 

Also do absolutely need the following?

Fuel pump

Down pipe

 

 

I wasn't sure where to post this didn't want to start a build thread.

 

I just want the car to run i have no power goals . I'm not building a drift car.

when my car was still stock 1JZ with an auto, the downpipe and fuel pump were both swapped. the greddy DP was about $175, but there's probably some ebay junk for less now. fuel pump was, and still is, walbro 255. going strong for 7 years. sent you a PM about some parts.

Good shit Brad I was strongly considering making tomei downpipe my ONLY baller part but i haven't window shopped their price in a long time

 

Guess those are all must haves now but I feel like I'm forgetting something

Ya cliff evasive down the street has them for $255

 

I just talked to the guy at the importer he said the motor I'm looking at is from a jzx110 any input? He spoke to me about "ATS"?

Gonna attempt to make it down there today to see it visually

Sometimes the VVTi solenoid plug on the top of the timing cover gets bashed and broken off. Can be an asshole to find and buy a replacement.

If it says ETCS-i on the throttle body, it's probably jzx110, the one you want says ETCS.

 

Make sure you know the difference before you buy. Based on your level of commitment and budget.

They're located in Garden Grove its getting delivered tomorrow the guy was cool they did a compression test in front of me and they had the only auto jzx100 plus it was pretty cheap according to another shop I visited

Just wanted to chime in, I'm planning a 1JZGTE swap for my MX73 myself. I found just about everything I needed planning the swap on http://driftmotion.com I'm sure you've heard of them, looks like good shit for universal related shit like IC, piping, seals and stock etc
