hantavirusx8 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 It's a '90 Cressida. I picked it up for $200 after it had sat in a field for 5 years. It had a blown up 7m (go figure). The car had rats living inside ruining all the interior, hence my username given to me in my intro.First thing I did was pull the 7m. Found this:One thing I knew for sure, the car was getting a JZ. Ordered this a week after I had the car.Worked on getting the nasty interior cleaned out. Stripped it, removed deadening with dry ice, and simple-green'd everything. Ended up throwing most of the interior away. It was bad.Did a new timing belt, tensioner, 2jzgte water pump, pulled the pan and checked the bearings. I did all this shit inside my house.I had an R154 from my old MK3 Supra (7m took a shit) scrapped the car, kept the R154, and LSD. Bolted it up, flipped the JZX90 brackets, and dropped it in the car.Everything lined up well.
hantavirusx8 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 Figured out the wiring and got it runningGot BC coilovers, in 14/10kg ratesI was running open downpipe and the twins were boosting high. That didn't last long. Smokescreen. Wanted something hard to kill and fairly quick spooling, so I got a Holset HX35Pulled the twinsBuilt a downpipe
hantavirusx8 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 Happy with the Holset. Makes decent power, and sounds good. Running at 13 psi for now, on stock management.Had a 4.30 gearset laying around, swapped it in with the ma70 LSD. Put the Weir performance #2 kit in the LSD, couldn't be happier with it.Started taking it to drift events. Happy with everything except the factory ebrakeThe car got hot quick with efans. Put on a ls400 fan clutch and a 7m blade. Big mistake. LS400 clutch stays locked spinning the opposite direction on a jz. Tore through radiatorWent to a 2jzge fan and clutch and it works right now.Put in roll center adjusters.Toyota Matrix studsIt died going down the highway with no warning. Got it home and triple checked my wiring. Power at coils, injectors, cps tested good. Opened the ecu and found this:Got that fixed and it started right up. ChriSOL 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 oh i get it now. also his radiator is closer to the fan than mine is because nice parts != stock parts.
Gibbs 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 FIRE hey did you do a side by side comparison of those matrix studs with the stock cressida's? if so how much of a difference was it?
hantavirusx8 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 Thanks everyone. Here are the stock studs compared to the matrix rear studs. I run a 5mm spacer up front, lug nuts still get 10 full turns

hantavirusx8 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2015 Put in a set of aristo 440's and got a used safcII. Factory 7mge fuel pump couldn't keep up over 11 psi.I've heard a lot of mixed things on Walbro 255's. So I decided to go with an MKIV Supra pump. Denso 950-0155. It's externally identical to the oem pump and flows 280lph.After changing the pump, I messed around with the SAFC for a while and got the AFR to stay between 11 and 11.5 at full throttle. Upped the boost to 18 psi. What a difference. Also got a fan shroud.
Gordo 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2015 Yeah, the REAL Walbro 255 is border line if you look at where they are comminly used (Mk3 Supras w 550 injectors). And the fakes out of Chinka are absolutely junk. Â Good job dialing thet puppy in
Macintosh Classic 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2015 Walaboro 255 is a malnutious butt knuckle. If I did another X8, I'd just do it right with a fuel cell and real pump. Stock tank and access to is fuck stupid. Especially, if you're going to put shitty pumps in it.
tuner4life 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2015 This is the easy way to get access to the pump in the stock tank... I want a fuel cell eventually, but for now I can change out in tank pumps in 10 min. Â Â
Austin 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2015 I only went fuel cell in my z as a last resort. I stand by stock tanks for life.
Kyle 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2015 Dropping the tank isn't even a pain. You guys are queers. I guess it may be worse for you northern folks, but it's your own damn fault for sticking around an asshole of a climate.
