1. Phase 1: I found a pearl white X8 w/ grey interior on craigslist in bum fuck nowhere Washington. The guy bought it from an old man who drove it and then upgraded and bought a Lexus and then passed it down to his son. After about 1.5 years it blew the head gasket @ 230k and he sold it to this guy in Washington and he replaced the HG and had to sell it due to him moving to Florida. It was immaculate and bone stock. Picked it up for $1500. I drove it for a few weeks and then its passenger brake line blew up and i had to replace the front brake lines and while i was there painted the calipers off the shelf chevy muscle car orange/red for extra cool points. and for some reason i thought it was a good idea to use anti seize on the lug studs. My first time ever working on a car and i was clueless. My first goal was to 5 speed swap it. After a couple hours of research i figured out that everyone's w58's were shit and found a mk3 R154 on a Facebook drift page for $550 at a local shop with a 30 day warranty. After a couple more hours i figured out everything i needed to make the swap happen (shout out to driftmotion and Xcessive): I then found a d-max vented hood in Newberg, Or for $100 and riveted it on for extra jdm fucc boi points. Found some $30 S14 springs for some poor boy low. At this point i had the 5 speed swap done and was waiting for a driveline and i picked up some mk3 supra wheels for $50. I did a couple celebratory burnouts/donuts and realized that open diffs suck and i had a lot of play in the rear end. found a 3.93 MK3 diff in the middle of nowhere Oregon and picked it up. Painted it race car red and me and my friend Jeff McCall installed the Xcessive poly subframe bushings and poly diff bushings, MK3 diff adapter and sub frame re-enforcement plate. Got all the parts installed and got an alignment. I thought i was the coolest dude on the block. Then after about 2 months of daily driving I acquired a rod knock after doing a donut showing off for friends. And that was pretty much my first 1 year of Cressida ownership. I spent the rest my year not doing shit tryna save up and buy a house and i eventually bought a house in Vancouver, WA. That's when phase two happened. I'll post it later if i have time.

4. Sooooo sup Guys..... I'm Dirty, I've been around for a while just have been kinda stagnate. I bought my X8 almost 2 years ago and have done very little, to be honest more has been done in the last week then in the last 2 years. About a year ago JIC coilovers installed and sitting on VSKF's I made a few mistakes in the first month of owning this car and its caused all the time to be wasted. Listing because I want to. 1.Got the car as a future daily but was driving an rx7 project car already. 2.I bought some Fucking baller wheels (although for a good price IMO) 3.I didnt hop on the first affordable NA 2j I came across (which was my original plan) 4. I picked up some coilovers and they were a project at that. So now after all this time and attempting to sell my Cressida and/or the coilovers I did the sensiable thing and sold my perfectly running mostly finished Rx7 and got this The importer tells me its a jzx100 motor theres a sticker on the harness that says 1998 Obviously its low miles (supposedly) and my plan is to do serpentine belt and some hoses and shove it into my Cressida with the auto... money is going to be tight on this build and sacrifices are going to made to get it initially running quickly but Im going to try not to cut corners I wanted to start on the car this weekend but we had un-characteristic rain in LA So I got started today. after I took this picture I removed the header and called it a day came with free seat belt and I thought you guys should see how hacked it was I couldnt figure out a good reason for this hose to be cut but what the fuck ever tell me that its not that bad^^^ this was a selling point tbh might pull the block tomorrow Tomorrow Im gonna make a list of all the things I need mostly for my sake and go from there.
5. So I've been reading up on Z32 brake swaps for X8 cressidas and even found a swap kit at Flipside customs. http://www.flipsidecustoms.com/toyota-cressida/ Now the question is: If you get the swap kit, can you fit direct bolt-on aftermarket 300ZX brakes on the cressida? I got curious after I found these Z1 brakes and decided to ask. I want to know if the swap kits can allow us to fit more than just OEM Z32 brakes on our cars.
6. ok so i got a week till i get my wheels 18x7.5 +45 and 18x8.5 +45 and since these got alot of backspacing i wanna know if these are gonna fit on my MX83 in stock form before I get some tires for them (if not ill just use that money to complete my coilovers..) I've looked all over the place! All I found was that one guy (blue with supercharged 1uz) ran 19xsomethings (8.5?) with a +43 is that +2 gonna kill me? anyway any help is appriciated if they dont fit Ill flip the lips -55 offset.... lolz

8. Started tearing into this death trap this week. I have seen some half ass shit before but this by far takes the cake. Im not building this thing im mostly unbuilding it with hopes of being able to put it back together less haggard as fuck. First thing was Axle. On the way back from Illinois with the car I killed an axle and tried to limp it a little closer to home with hopes of still making it to work that day and getting towed back. This thing got extra hot. WTF IS THIS SHIT? this bushing moves up and down about an inch, Its all the way tight. These bushings are fucked too. This whole front end is held on with zipties super sketchy. Probably going to use some of that small circular tubing and bend up some stuff to make proper brackets to hold the lights and shit in since its probably the most valuable thing on the car and I dont want to run it the fuck over. Axle is rubbing on subframe sometimes. Got 2 supra axles from a turbo model for $40, everything was the same besides the nut on the end of the stub. It was actually smaller.
9. Here's my problem. Just bought a Cressida with a blown head gasket. I found an IS300 2J but I'm not exactly sure how much work is involved with putting it in. What scared me was, I called a guy to ask him how much would it be for him to put in a 1j and he said $5500 with motor engine and labor. He was offering a bit more than just the swap but the car would have to run 9s in a 1/4 mile for me to pay him that right now. 7Ms and 1Js don't cost that much and I'm sure I could find a VVTi 2J for under $1500 so what am I missing. Now I'm sure it's not a plug and play swap but I'm just looking for a ballpark figure of how much a is/gs300 swap should cost

My bitch in the making...

What's up ya'll! Just wanted to post up where I'm at with my project. The car has pretty much been sitting in storage since I posted my intro. Have been waiting for the proper timing to get shit rollin, glad I did. The original thoughts were to grab a 1j and do the swap, being the 7M is garbage and I bought it with a blown head gasket. Then time passed, saw some other things unfolding around me. Then I made the fatal "mistake" of going to NHMS and watching Roy drift his 1U cressida. The sound alone had me sold. Anyways, enough with the blah blah blah bullshit. Here's how she sat when I first went to pick it up and brought it back to the shop. Checked it over, pretty solid car for an 89! Decided to gut the interior, no one likes torn blue seats and ratty carpet anyways! So then I started to think of options. Rebuild the 7M (no), do a 1 or 2jz swap... blah blah blah. Then I stumbled onto this! Picked it up for $600! Was 2hrs away on the cape in Mass. Car had been sitting for a bit, but with a booster pack and air in the tire, it fired right up and was able to drive it onto the trailer. BTW, fuck Boston traffic with a truck and loaded trailer! Nothing too exciting as of yet, have been takin the Lex apart. Salvaging any of the parts from the chassis that will be needed for the swap. The tranny was a fucking cunt to separate from the engine. Damn dowel pins were corroded right in. This is pretty much where is sits at the moment. Ordered a bunch of parts to refresh the 1U, from rockauto. Some have arrived, the rest should be here before the weekend. Once I'm done replacing all the shit, I'll be bringin the cressida back in to start removing the boat anchor from the bay.
11. Alright you mother fuckers, I'm about to post like 200 pics and a short story of this entire year and what led up to my first year of Lonestar Drift FD Pro/am. Traveling from florida to Texas for each round left me and friends with hundreds of memories, tons of drifting, tons of money spent, and I ending up 5th overall for 2013. First heres my old x8 i got in 2010 or so. 1j, r154, coilovers, wheels, welded diff and that was pretty much it since i daily drove it and drifted it at local events. We broke up, I drank 40s all the time. Then I saw this shitbox that was ameen's for sale on jzxp. Austin had it in northern alabama and I wanted it mainly since it already had a Cage that was pretty legit Alabama has malt liquor in 4 packs threw the s9 kit from it on my DD cressida and cut the roof off it for some big car meet since it would be the last time I legally drove a cressida on the street since then. removed all parts from it since I knew I would need them later Scrapped it Began putting in hours on the new to me chassis by painting the entire interior one solid color ordered tons of parts which was pretty cool since i was single and living in a tiny apartment my entire paychecks would go to race car shit. (which is totally stupid and fuck you) more parts Had to remove and replace LITERALLY everything that could bolt to this chassis Entire front suspension Entire rear suspension Gas tank Under chassis fuel lines/brake lines Brake booster/ master cylinders Many days were spent under the car on the ground fixing shit Started the wiring ended up with switch panel 12 circuit racecar chassis harness 240sx 8 relay holder/ 8 relays came out alot better than I expected and all my circuits worked which were Ignition Fuel pump Headlights/Tailights Brake lights wiper Got the car together for the most part Made my own hydro ebrake dual caliper bracket that uses stock x8 calipers (this was before XM released their own) More fancy parts grabbed a P5858 and had it fully rebuilt by precision and some 550s from kyle sent to driftmotion for cleaning Wastegate dump came out pretty Went over my engine harness and fixed a few broken connectors. Beard Achilles radial sent me support program vinyl (huge nightmare later so read on) AEM came in <3 got tired of not driving so I went to a Nola Motorsports Park event in December 2012. drove some RHD s13 saw this and it began my banana boat ideas Got a SWEET 12 valve cummins truck for a score to tow my banana boat to Texas Intercooler mounts/piping exhaust Hydro setup with -4 AN brake line loaded the base map driftmotion sent with the aem and it barely ran made a simple cluster with wideband and the aem serial gauge which is amazing loaded it up and took it to TDC in mobile, alabama and had them tune it to 14psi. (maxed my factory map sensor) made 350hp/330tq on pump gas drove it to the gas station a few times Shakedown TOOK MY CAR TO SHAKEDOWN at a Nola event. car FELT GREAT Huge relief after this event since a few months ago this thing wasn't even a rolling chassis lots of tandem My genius friend made a sweet GM 3 bar map sensor in an oem jz map sensor case. painted it with rustoleum industrial building paint after i saw that genesis and saw a "how to" in hotrod magazine ROUND 1 Achilles radial didn't have any tires for the support program so i bought some atr sports (235/40/18s) from tires-easy and Loaded the car with vinyl and onto the trailer and headed for Texas Lonestar drift round 1. Took the car Back to TDC on the way to texas for retune with GM 3 bar and to 20psi. car made 410hp/400tq and felt fucking rad as shit! was suppose to stay with gibbs in houston, but after getting drunk at his place we decided to crash at a hotel. woke up the next morning to this with alot of shit missing from the truck. luckily the car was ok this was my first ever "pro/am" event and i had expected it to have a really strict tech inspection and everyone be assholes but it was the COMPLETE opposite of that. got lots of tandem practice in (too much) first time changing tires at this event and both of my electric impact batteries were dead. had to change tires with a 1/2 ratchet and i somehow managed to fuck my studs up. (ALL OF THEM) so we had to literally cross thread lug nuts on. luckily the studs were ARP haha everything at the event went great except I ran out of achilles before qualifying. LOL Borrowed some used tires from Nacho and barely squeezed into top 16. qualified like 14th or 15th so. bought some Kendas 265/35/18 from Turnbow since he broke his R154 during practice. and went into competition Round 1 was quite some time ago (march) so I barely remember exact details of the comp but there was alot of confusion at the starting line about which car led, when we could change tires, ect.. had to call 5 minutes to swap tires during top 8 since we had a few OMTs and almost got DQ'd since we were literally changing tires looking like retarded cavemen. I remember sitting in the drivers seat fully suited while my pit guys are cross threading the lug nuts on and Aaron Losey (runs all the events) is at my drivers window asking ARE YOU READY?? YOU GOTTA GET OUT THERE NOW! so i told them to drop the jack and i did a quick burnout and rushed to the start line. not knowing how many lug nuts i had on or if they were even tight. finished those runs and won the battle so i returned to my pits and my guys tell me none of the lug nuts were over 20ft lbs. got all of them torqued down to 85 ft lbs and went back out for final 4 went against Tim and that was a confusing and sketchy battle since he was handicapped with a broken r154 thrust washer. had no 1st or 3rd. I beat Tim and got pretty stoked at this point since it meant i was finishing at least 3rd place. I ended up smashing Nacho in the door pretty good out of the excitement lost the battle to move on and finished my weekend and first pro/am event strong with a 3rd place finish the drive home sucked. UPDATE Round 2: Round 2 was CRAZY. Event was held at Texas Motor Speedway on the road course. I was really stoked on this because I had heard it would be super fast and the track was really grippy! Since the car was pretty solid after round 1, all i had to do was chop the studs to normal length and get more lug nuts. also redid my alignment with +.2 camber and a little more toe in in the rear for traction during squatting. Ordered achilles radials through the support program for this event and ended up getting 8 of their 123S semi-slick in 265/35/18. They come individually wrapped which sucks to remove These things are the best tire Ive ever driven on. better than 615k, NT05, AD07, AD08, all of them! (Achilles on Left) Left saturday morning from florida and drove all day to our hotel near TMS got to the hotel and drank a few Yuenglings that we brought with us. Crashed out early and woke up to hotel breakfast and then headed to the track. TMS is HUGE and the whole facility is amazing (dont mind the vinyl, ill tell that story later) Got out onto the track for my first runs with the 123S in the rear and the car would barely spin them with 45PSI hot in them. at first i thought the car was down on power, but we bumped up the pressure to 65psi hot in all of the rear tires i had and went out for some more seat time. it helped ALOT. even at 65PSI these things had tons of grip and were blowing my mind! 65psi hot in the rear tires felt pretty sweet but during practice into the first corner I would have some understeer issues since i was still running regular ATR SPORTs up front from round 1. lowered front tire pressure to like 15psi and kept 65psi in the rears and it bandaided the understeer problems drove alot from 9am to 2pm Had our drivers meeting then went out for qualifying. I qualified 11th I think and it was pretty difficult figuring out these new tires. Went into top 16 and advanced onto top 8. there was alot of crashes and crazy stuff happening and the dude i was suppose to battle for top 8 had fucked his shit up too bad to repair for top 8 so I got a bi-run into final 4. for this battle I went against Mike with a 600hp e36. He qualified higher so he led first. is car is fast as FUCK, and pulled a decent gap on the straight away. we both linked the course and i had minor deductions for lack of proximity I guess. On my lead run he was pretty close to me and on our transition into the final sweeper i threw in tons of angle to scrub my speed to make the corner and Mike did the same except he spun behind me and I finished out the run which gave me the win against him. I was stoked again to have at least 3rd place. Tim with the SC was my next battle and he led our first run. top of 3rd into the first corner, he initiates, I initiate...hes on the proper line and I'm understeering into failure!!! On my lead run I tried to make up for it but he had no major corrections and beat me. haha Heres a video from the entire event. Shows how terrible I was driving, and how different everyone was driving. everyone was running different speeds, lines, transitioning in different areas. everything was chaos lol really sweet fly by of me at :43 So I finished 3rd at round 2. and i was really stoked. was 3rd in points overall at this point which meant If i kept up this consistency for 3 more rounds I would get a pro license. Still have rounds 3-5 to add!! this year was longer than i thought! LOL

MX83 1UZ Swap Tech details

So for the past year my main and only project has been my MK3 supra, fuck you if you dont like them I dont care. Its a yota and I love it. But I've finally scratching the itch to do a swap in my MX83. It only has 96,000 original miles and its super clean. I want to make it a nice cruiser. My grandmother's SC400 was always pretty kick ass to me, and I love the uz series motors and between quantum auto and Excessive manufacturing, the swap seems pretty easy I was just curious as to what I will need. I have already picked up a nice W58. I didnt want the R154 because they are generally more expensive and a less smooth shifting tranny. I know I will need a complete 1uz to W58 bellhousing adapter, clutch kit an flywheel which quantum auto sells. I will need to find a decent 1uz with ECU and wiring harness. Motor mount can be purchased at Excessive manufacturing. Just wasn't sure if anybody else here has done the swap and knows more in depth info other than the obvious and what I already know. It will be lowered on meghan coilovers with 19'' Konig afterburners. Probably some stoptech drilled and slotted rotors. Other than that I will just be doing basic cosmetic touch ups and fixes to make the car show worthy. Thanks for the help guys!

Aero Type II?

Hey guys! Just wanted to see if you guys planned on releasing your aero type II to the public soon?! With all the talk of aero and new options on the board, I figured I'd post up and see. Perhaps get the feed back of other members, people who may want to put off getting the BN rep for your type II. Also add some feedback and suggestions. I know I've heard a lot of people say your type I kit is wicked thin material, perhaps some constructive criticism to help make your product better/stronger. Thanks, Tom

EFI - FUCK TIMING! 1JZ + microtech LT16

hey all, i have spent weeks searching google, calling tuners/friends/people about my issue, i cannot for the life of me set the timing on my 1jz, it will NOT retard past 20BTDC and even setting static value to 0 and timing trim to -15 (going past -15 all the way to -45 has no effect) so heres whats happened in order -running 1jz on microtech LT16, tuned with various setups over the 2 or so years its had the ecu -made 403rwhp, took to qld matsuri and shat a bottom end bearing -replaced engine over a 6 month period -fitted new seals/tbelt etc -snapped bolt off in lower timing gear on the crank getting it off -replaced it, fitted t belt and got engine running -now timing reads like 35btdc and i cannot correct it past 20btdc with a -15 timing trim and static set to 0.... all timing marks line up, had the belt off 3-4 times now and made sure everything is right, i have a few pics here and im trying to get the video to upload (im shaped ) if someone could help me with this problem i would be much appreciative and will more than willingly powerskid your whole street while u drink the beer of your choice which i will also provide heres the pics thanks, brendan exhaust cam @tdc intake cam @ tdc crank @ tdc where the engine stopped when i turned it off (nopt tdc at all, just thought id take a pic to make sure cam gears are still in sync) PLEASE HELP!!!!

x8 EXTENDED WHEEL STUDS WTF

alright so Ive done some searching but it seems that there is some confusion about which studs work. Found this thread: http://jzxproject.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=2301 which led me to: http://www.jegs.com/i/ARP/070/100-7718/10002/-1 or http://www.jegs.com/i/ARP/070/100-7715/10002/-1 looking for stronger/extended studs for the rear of my x8 as I keep breaking cheap aftermarket ones while changing tires
20. So basically, it was wet, i got a little sideways, lack of abs....curbed my front left wheel, and it did some internal damage, also the power steering went out, regardless, now I'm in need of any ones spare parts or potentially some direction as to where I should buy some decent priced parts, that arn't beat up.
