figured i would start a build thread. most of the work has already been done so ill post some pics along the way.bought this 1979 cressida around 6 years ago bone stock. ran like dick and had this strange gunk all over the car. but was overall in pretty good shape for its age. 1st thing i did was convert to a weber 32/36 carb.

then i started to get this gunk off. the original owner said he washed it with a concert cleaner of some sort. took a gallon of goof off remover and countless rags to wipe it off. then had serveral cutting and buffing layers done.

you can see where i had wiped off that shit. eventually it was kinda shiny.

drove that for 6 months then a rod bearing said see u later

bought another 4m and made a "good" out of the 2 that i had with a good head and good block

never put that one in.(probably would have failed anyway cuz i had no clue what i was doing) sold it to a guy with a 67 crown looking to upgrade from his 2m. i bought a few 2jzge's over the years but never put them in. i moved several times then finally had a good garage again. i then bought a vvti 2jzgte. added a s257xe borg, fuse fab manifold and a no name intake manifold.

i did practice on a 1987 x7 cressida that i traded my 82 corona wagon for. bought a gs300 2jzge/auto from a buddy that already had a panic harness made for a 87 x7. swapped that in and finished the other bits that needed to me done. drove that for over a year then sold to another buddy to buy yet another Cressida. sold it for 3500 and used that plus more cash to buy a 78 x3 from a buddy. was already na-t 2jzge swapped and 400whp. i put a interior out of a x6 i had (got smashed by a dude driving on the shoulder). done small things to it. was a good stepping stone to driving higher hp cars. Before i even started the 79 x3 i bought a 1990 corolla to learn 5 speed on. i had never owned or driven anything besides autos. i did have some experience on a bike but very limited. after being confident enough driving that i felt like i could drive the 78 x3 so i bought it. driving the 78 x3 really got me motivated to finish my 79 x3.
