    Tuner4life's 1991 Cressida Drift Build

Every time I read about you saying your car is underpowered there's only 1 word that comes: Boost!

Fixing code 21 and 28 is going to make the engine feel slower, don't actually know about the actual HP loss or gain because I dynoed after fixing the codes. Could probably be that I got used to feel the UZ slow anyways. I also deleted EGR and had no secondary o2s and got no codes after changing the main o2s. Mine was from a 92 LS400 though.

    Totally agree.

    MX83 tach work with 1UZFE?

That's easy. Non professionals could easily earn in the USA in a week what would take them 3 or 4 months here, without even speaking english. Most common cases are hair stylist, working at restaurants, grocery shops, or driving taxis or trucks. A good mechanic here could earn top us$250 a month, normally a mechanic gets paid only $180. A regular hair cut here cost 2.5 dollars. I have a BS in business administration and work as an operations supervisor at a call/contact center, earning $780 a month. If I get fired from here, the best I could get working at a bank or any office job would be $300 a month.

    MX83 tach work with 1UZFE?

Didn't mean to make you rip apart your cluster. I'm just trying to at least see some reference of the board that works so I could try to find something close to it. I live in an island 20 times smaller than texas, and here junkyards are not even close to what you have there. What you all consider junk, here is like gold. I will just take this as a reference

Stop saying "Mines this, Mines that" and actually post photos of the one you used and how it fits. I tried using a 89 corolla tach board with no luck.
  8. I have the chance to buy a 2jzgte vvti (2002 aristo jzs161 with the ects-1 shit and a r154) x8 swapped for $2200. My plan is to put my 1uz in the guys shell and sell it and put the 2jz in my car. Should I du et? Thanks

    Any fix on this?

Should I stay away from 2jzgte vvti?

Here we can get r154 for max $700 with jz bellhousing and no clutch. The auto 2jz gte vvti cost around $2000. Auto 1jz gte vvti cost $1300. Auto 1uz $1000 I test drove it last night and it idles and drives fine with mild power, no smoke, but I noticed a lot of detonation, and blow by, then I checked the compression and got: 180 160 80 80 No compression on cyl 5 (the spark plug insulator was broken and hanging on the ground electrode) then did a wet test and got 60 psi. 80 The guy knows shit about mechanic stuff, and was almost crying when I told him the engine problems. He dropped the price to $1700.

No way to bypass the dbw? I would like to keep the stock ecu untinl I get rich and be able to afford one. The owner is selling it because he feels it has no power as before. I think this engine is in limp mode. I'll see if I can retrieve the cel codes tonight and see what's up.

Hi, remember me? Please take a look at my intro, to get to know a little better about me and my car. http://jzxproject.com/bbs/index.php?showtopic=9828 I will start this build thread by saying excuse me if my english is not very good looking (spanish is my native language). I work at a call center for a US client (a dating website located in Texas, those who live there will probably guess which one)... This is my one and only car now but my 10th overall (2nd cressida). Got it in march 2013 with 102k miles (for US $2000, I know it was not cheap at all, but actually normal price range for it here is around $3k. But... We do have the benefit (most of the time) of cheap parts here. The car ran fine for 6 months and then guess what? Yep a BHG. It started with misfire on cyl 6 and after removing the spark plug I found water inside the cylinder. I´ve been since working with my car in my parents house driveway and hope to get it running in a couple of months (when the funds decide to let me of course). I then have been taking conchos every day to move everywhere (worlds most piece of shit way of public transportation ever) be my guest and google CONCHOS DOMINICANOS, there you will see a full variety of cars most but not all of them are crap. There are some routes that have a "nice cars only" policy but is not the ones that I use. Most used and reliable concho cars are toyota corollas, going from 4th gen to 8th gen. No hondas are used for that GUESS WHYYYY. I have seen like around 10 X7s and only 2 X8s as conchos. All of these cars run with LPG and that shit stinks!!!! So now you know in the hurry I am to finish my car, but still I´m taking things slow, taking care of details to build a nice, clean and reliable daily drive car. My initial plan was to build a 7mge-t and got some cheap random stuff from a coworker: Besides of whats in the picture, i got a full 7mgte block with an auto tranny attached to it. All that for US $70 bucks. I started by removing the 7m head. Then a couple of days later in november, I brought all of my classmates (automotive mechanic technician class that we finished last december) including the teacher to remove the block with no hidraulic jack, just 2 metal tubes, a chain and 6 guys. It was a fun night. Then the teacher asked me if I wanted to remove the steering rack and rebuild it in class and I said hell yes!! Yep they all want to learn and i´m just taking pictures with my phone. I had removed and unbolted everything, they just had to lift the engine block and get it out from the car. Thats my car waiting... Later in January 2nd, I went to a junk yard and found a wrecked LS400 (sorry no pics of the car) and bought this complete (and the dirtiest engine ever) 1uz-fe with bellhousing and no tranny for US$450 plus the 7mgte and 7mge blocks and an auto tranny. I will later keep with the story. Enjoy.

Thanks anyway Gordo. I have no experience dealing with mounts, and here there are some places that fab mounts and bushings from solid lifters and tractor tires. Should I try those? I feel no vibrations at all with the blown 7m mounts but I wouldn't like to see that engine falling from them.

I still need to invest in some stuff first. I used the old tired and broken 7m engine mounts. They're really hard to find here and really expensive too (75 each) And I don't want to buy new 7m mounts for them to last 2 weeks. Also need a new transmission mount. And 2 new tires. Get the a/c working and save for a new paint job.

Been running my car for a month now. Don`t hate on my cheap shifter ç. I find it very comfortable. Home made short throw shifter I had to shut off the IACV due to high idle. I swapped mk3 lsd internals to the stock x8 case but it still behaved like an open diff so... I welded the stock x8 diff. Remember de double diaphragm pressure plate? That thing made the clutch pedal feel like pushing another car with my foot. The throwout bearing wasn`t too happy either so it decided to die. Only lasted 3 weeks and almost 300 miles. I had to make it a single diaphragm back. Drivers side exhaust manifold mod to make it fit. The wiring was pretty easy. I still need to organize the engine bay to hide all those visible wires. I´m running with 2 nissan electric fans with a 4afe thermoswitch. Again, I will redo the fans and alternator wiring so it doen`t look that messy. I did it just to make it work. I also got these bbs rs replicas but the 2 rears didn`t last long. I also still need to hook up the A/C and find out why the steering is only soft at high revs.
