If you live anywhere close to a major city, there will be a tool sharpening place somewhere, that can save that other drill. Not sure what they charge, may not be worth it. Chipping like that is usually caused by tool chatter, caused by not enough pressure, not enough power, or not enough rigidity. Doesn't help to have a pre-existing hole already, as the first drill probably has a tip design for cutting into a solid material. So if you are doing it with a hand drill, you have no rigidity, or pressure, don't care how big of arms you have, and a hand drill is very lacking in power compared to a 2hp mill motor with a really low gear reduction.

Well, I doubt it was the drill also. So you are attempting to drill into 'oem steel' (LoL, never heard that one before, to describe a metal alloy, LoLoL), into your 'knuckle' (?) (do you mean spindle, where the calipers bolt to? - More LoLoL), which is hardened, high carbon, forged steel, not home depot angle iron. You better go find a 9/16" core drill. Meant to drill into rough castings, and will take a lot of abuse. Something like this: Core Drill, and that will still be difficult. Love these fly by night after market con-artists who sell poorly designed shit, where they expect the buyers to finish their job. Kind of like someone selling a hunk of titanium for a do-it-yourself jet engine turbine blade, with instructions that tell you it will fit, all you need to do is heat it to 1500 degrees, and forge it into shape. Post pictures of how bad you fucked up the stock hole, I like to see carnage....

    Gordo's X8 Ramblings

I wanted a pair of SPG Type- 2, but none are to be found, and used when one pops up, they go for $1500 each. Even then, when they do pop up, they have the yellow center pads. Probably going with the Zeta, as I'm only 150 with my boots on. (nothing else, just my boots, that's how I run around the neighborhood late at night)

About the only ones I could possibly sit in is the OMP or Sparco, if I drove to Austin (Winding Road Racing), if they actually have any in stock. I'll try to call them this week.

OK, Change of plans # 21,426..... Sold my reclinable Recaro seats before ever installing them. Decided to buy them due to long trips sitting in my old Momo T-frames making my butt hurt. Then realized that seats to hold my skinny ass in place was more important than comfort. If I wanted comfort, I would have kept the stock seats. So now looking at the following: Bride Zeda-III, Charge Speed Spirtz SS, OMP WRX-R, or Sparco Pro 2000. Like the OMP Airtex fabric, and removable side pad to adjust for hip width, but only available in black. Like the Bride, and there are lots of aftermarket things like vinyl edge protection pieces, just don't like their blue, as they are only available in the 'logo' fabric. The Sparco look to be very comfortable, and they have all of the upholstery replacements, just they have that crappy wimpy material typically found on stuffed animals, and don't really have high side bolsters. Charge Speed are a little sketchy about how wide they are, have no replacement cushions, but for the same $$ as the others for 'glass, they are carbon fiber. I'll just cut my Bride bases apart, and adapt them to take non-adjustable side mounts.

You would have to contact them. I know belts can be, but never checked into helmets.

Well, redoing my 044 pump set up again. Ordered in one of the Holley HydraMats. Went with a 15" by 8" cross units. Since they come with good old 'merican pipe threads, couldn't directly attach to the bottom of the pump, so more fittings, and now hoses. Cutting the old pressure out line off, and going with a -6 bulk head fitting. Not all of the fittings are here yet, but I will post more pictures when they do show up. On another note, any circuit type events now require a Hans device. Fuck they are expensive... Sad Found an old used on eBay for $150, so grabbed it... Happy Then Rue ruined my day by asking what the certification date was... Sad Asked the seller, he said it didn't have one, so I asked to cancel the sale... really Sad Next day I called Hans/Simpson, how just happen to be just 15 miles from me, to ask if they could recertify an old Hans. They said no problem, just $25 plus cost of new straps... Happy again! Took it to them yesterday, walked in, saying I had a Hans that needed recertification. Gal said no, that wasn't even their product... Sad, and a little pissed. We argued for about 5 minutes about how there was a picture of this unit on the Pegasus web site on the history of Hans. I'm getting more sad, and more pissed. She gave in, took the unit to the offices, and came back without it. I'm already thinking of how to word the description for an eBay listing, so I can recoup some of my $$. 15 minutes later, Tina from the offices comes back with my $150 special, and explains to me why it can't be recertified. I'm thinking more about dumping it on eBay as a relic, or collectable, or vintage Hans unit (and how cute Tina is). The reason is that it's a first production unit, and there were no certifications on them back then. So I say something to the effect of it being a wall decoration, and she says..... "Would you like to trade for a new one?" About the only thing that could have been better is if she asked me if I wanted to go get naked in a motel room ! But a trade for a new one would do just fine, thank you very much ! Turns out they wanted it for display, and they had only seen one other of the first production units. I drove home happy, and with a hard-on....... Any one have a really old Simpson helmet, so I can go talk to Tina again ?

I don't know, I think the purple is decent. Black with a hint of purple would have only stood out once in a while when the light was just right, otherwise would have just looked black all the time. Like the front bar now also, should make copies.

Question from a 'no X7 experience what so ever' guy: Why can't you just heat, and bend the bearing/stub axle end of the swing arm to correct camber ? I've seen it done on Datsun 510 swing arms.

    JZ to BMW ZF

Nope, don't go there........ They are based on the same 6-speed Aisin J160 that infects the S15, RX8, Miata, and New 86. Only in aftermarket form do they hold much more than 250 HP. That is what is going into my X8, but it's built by HPI, with the Nismo close ratio gear set, that has less angle on the teeth to reduce side thrust, and completely WPC processed to increase strength. Even then, they are only good for about 425 HP. I am going with a carbon fiber drive shaft (springier than steel or aluminum), and a 7 lb. flywheel just to reduce shock loads on it. Cost: twice as much as a new TKO600, about 5k, not including adaptation. Watch me cry when I break mine..... Besides, you just can't plug the holes for the front axles because of center differential, car will not go anywhere, unless you weld it solid. I've said this before, pick up a new TKO600 with the road race gear set. It's a nice, high torque capable 5-speed, with a 2.9-ish first, a .86-ish 5th, meant to be hammered on by a pig-iron V8, light, and costs $2600. I have had an adaptor to go from a Detroit 5-speed, to a Toyota auto bell housing, that I can probably put my hands on to copy, or at least get the dimensions off of, then clutch disks for either ford or chevy spline, and a hydraulic throw-out bearing, custom drive shaft, and you are good to go.

    JZ to BMW ZF

What I'm saying is to shit-can the idea of using that trans due to the absolutely crappy ratios.... First is too damn low for a performance trans, as is 6th for being too damn high. Super low first so any 80 year old can puts through a mall parking lot, and 6th that puts up great 'green' numbers for the EPA. So basically, a decent 4-speed, with a bunch of useless weight.

  23. And hating himself for it...... Has been talking about selling it, and doing something besides a honda, like a pickup truck, or a wagon. Just tell him not to let that wing go with the car if somebody offers him big $$ for the Honda, as a truck will need it. Edit: if anyone offers him any money for it....

  25. Most are... Rue has an impressive one, mostly due to him making many of the parts, not buying them out of a catalogue. Wait, he got kicked off here due to slimie, or schamlie, or what ever that loser's name was. (and people wonder why there are so few good members here)
