    FUCK PRO DRIFTING - UCF11

Here's a rehashing from other boards' threads. JZXp will be the first to receive updates from now on. Fresh off the trailer. Got it 2 hrs away for $1100 running and driving. Caribbean woman owner had the blown front airbags changed out for steel spring on shock, but the back was still airbag. She gave me the rear steel suspension as well. Gross inside. And then I got to it. Threw some shit away out of the trunk; a lot of shit: 6-CD changer, Motorolla cel phone module, cables upon cables, the spare cover, the spare spare cover, the cover for the spare cover for the spare (but not the spare), the suspenison computer, some other computer thing, the computer for the CD changer, the rack for the CD changer, first aid kit cubby, toolkit cubby, panels upon panels of trunk trim, airbag pumps, amplifier for the stock subwoofer, stock subwoofer, rear deck cover, rear seat underpad, etc. In the trunk alone there was 60 lbs of shit that went, and in the back seat area excluding the seat itself there was 25 lbs. Then the steel suspension went into the rear and I cut the springs to the proper height. The car will probably be another 1.5"-2" lower after suspension is done. I've also already figured out what wheels I'll be using and have confirmed that the fitment will be as sweet as bear pussy (which is so sweet on account of how much honey they eat). So, before you douchebags can speculate what I'll be doing to this car let me make the plan clear: Manual swap Welded differential/Kaaz 2-way Coilovers, probably 18kg/14kg Megan Tracks for Mk III Supra Dual 2"-2.5" exhaust, no stupid Bosozoku tips Stripped interior minus dashboard, bolted-down floormats and center console 6-point chassis-tied frog-ass tight rollcage Satin black exterior No more areo than perhaps a lip, cheap sideskirts and NB Miata valences Later on I'll do power: cams, metal head gaskets, counter-rotating TD04s, cryo-treated bottom end, 500-600 rwhp There will be nothing VIP about this car. It is cheap as shit, the wheels won't be some $20 billion dollar 19 or 20", it won't be shiny and it won't be on airbags, and the owner will not have a snooty attitude. In fact, here are some things you can expect NOT to see go into this car: Here's a quick price breakdown: Car - $1100 Coilovers - $800 Welding Differential, steering arms - $20 (materials) Front main seal - $8 Custom driveshaft - $200 Super Secret awesome wheels - $650 with tires Total: $2778 You can't even buy a running S13 in decent shape for that much. I already have: 5MT W58 Bellhousing (~$400 used) Cusco Super Single clutch (~$350 used) Push-type slave cylinder, master, pedal ($75 used) X73 Ebrake handle ($5 used) Exhaust (~$50 in materials) Wheel ($20 ebay) Style (no value) Know-how (invaluable) Subtotal: $900 After all the peripherals, I'll still be well under $5k total investment. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I've already pitched 150 lbs worth of needless shit, and I haven't even touched the sound deadening. I'm going to keep a running list of the shit I threw out just for laughs, but it's rediculous. Swapped out the toilet seat steering wheel for a much more intuitive one, with a small spacer I made. Aparently you can also fit a 2nd 1UZ in the back. Sold the spare motor out of my Cressida project to put towards coilover fund. I drove 80 miles to Sarasota just like this, pulled the motor out with a hoist and drove 80 miles back at 3AM with my buddy sleeping in the passenger seat. The car is definitely a Lexus - even with no rear door it was quiet enough we could have a conversation. And now for cool shit: The fenders were sitting on ballon-fitment Mustang tires, therefore the car is sitting about 2" higher than it will with properly sized (stretched) tires. The wheel to body fitment is absolutely perfect in 17x9 +25 front and 17x10.5 +26 rear. I'm split between these ones (Cobra replicas), FR500s and the Saleen SSC wheels, all of which can be had for around $600 per set brand new! For those who don't know... FR500s: Saleen SSC: Also, no pictures to go with it, but I have the Ebrake handle, the clutch master positioning and pedal (which is the tricky part on the UCF chassis manual swap). Both of them are super-sneaky. I also know what I'm going to do for increased steering angle, rear differential and coilovers. They aren't quite as sneaky, but still need to happen. ---------------------------------------------------------- Paint. Krylon Satin Black. 4 cans. Seat and bracket. $100 Sparco Evo, which will probably be replaced by a MOMO soon. Bracket needed 1" RHS tubing to space it from the floor because I couldn't see over the dash cowl even with a particurlarly long torso. Ebrake handle, Clutch pedal mounting, suspension and wheels to come shortly. Until then you all can go suck it.

It's got coilovers. Homedude has been fighting tire vs. body issues for a few weeks now.

Yeah, I'm just going to start fresh with the brake lines and maybe not even use the OEM Toyota master. The vid Justin posted doesn't really shot anything I've done - Shortened steering knuckles for more angle, sorted out rollcage, mufflers suited to the build, cut away more of the car, etc etc I don't want "cheap" and "brake" associated with other. The cable will never leak and is good enough for thousands of other Lexuses, so I'm sticking with the cable. The extra slack is beneficial since I need some room to work when putting the seat in and out since the handbrake is seat rail-mounted.

I want to post up progress but I can't figure out how to work the fucking board any more.

"Hate" is a strong word. I think of it as "encouragement to buck up and do work" like what you would get from a Drill Sgt. A buddy posted that thread on my FB, and I told him to join JZXP so I'm not along in the ocean liner world. Someone posted the pic of his car from speedhunters earlier in this thread, too. Big props to that guy for bringing the car out to events and sticking with it.

I know you're not talking shit in my thread... Only for JZXP people to know, but that's not the car I've been working on. The car in the video was my daily and it's destruction was planned. The engine is coming out of that one for the War Machine car that I've been building, so it was Defcon 1 for missile attack. If I didn't hit the wall that night I would have felt that I could have pushed rthe car harder. $1000 for an engine, complete set of spares for everything, and fun times and experience like that is money well spent. I've finished the seat bracket and E-brake setup, welded the diff and optained a harness. The running of the most terrifying and durable machine I've ever build is serveral steps closer.
  7. Shit is so slow on anything but Apple. This is the push I need to finally just get an Iphone or Ipad. Thanks, dick.

Whoa, forum is different now. Want to see how to make yourself a sweet shifter/ebrake handle/bayonet? Here we go: step 1: step 2: step 3: Now go punch people! In other news: engine out in order to clean this engine bay and eliminate this omgtwfclustercusk There's also this: oh look, there's two of them dual double 4" all stainless. I call these the "MegaMan" exhaust, there are a few out there now and they sound superb.

Luckily, they're going to be set up as over-swing top hung pedals that will be bolted to the floor. It probably doesn't make any sense, but I'll post a picture when it's together...

That's sweet of you honey. Some day we'll have to get together again... and dominate!

Thanks! I have had that idea floating around in my head for a while, but hadn't gotten a chance to implement it. I also pulled the engine out today so I can clean and seam-weld the engine bay in comfort.

Decided to re pad a Bride to fit me properly. Any questions? I also decided I needed some bottom mount pedals. There are some cheap possibilities out there, but I'm fucking broke. All I could find is a box of rods from a smoked 1UZ. A little cutting and welding and I got this: Like magic!

Thanks. I was probably taking a shit when you came by though.
  14. The Truboost performs fine but it's cryptic to use and you'll probably never remember the stupid tree of command for making it do something. "Set it and forget it" as far as I'm concerned. The HKS has a really nice interface and is solid as fuck, but the way it needs to be run (Not as a bleed-off system) requires a lot of line and the big ass manifold that goes with it. I recommend this: Hallman Evolution Nucca! Run a gauge and you have cockpit adjustable MBC reliability and no wires to set your car on fire - wooooo!! Just pull some timing where it wants to spike.

Hey, that's cool, but check this out: Here's an example of how overdone the factory wiring is in this car. Say I wanted to strip out one of the front doors. It's got to be a couple of plugs and maybe a pound or so of wiring, isn't it?: ...yeah right. about 20 minutes later messing around with harnesses and sub-harnesses, clips, modules, insulation and retainers, it finally looks like this: Here's what I took out of one door. about 10 lbs. of bullshit that is no longer needed. This isn't including the wiring for the power window, which still works on the jump pack and will with the EZ harness: More of the cage so far, as requested. Door bars aren't going in until I have the seat in place to ensure abslute comfort around the left arm and knee. I'm adding a few more bars as well just for the sake of structural rigidity. Also notice that I drop the cage through the floor via holes that get covered up by the baseplates later on. This way there's plenty of room to TIG weld and get my head where I can see. Makes for much better welds and much tighter fitment than just building plinths (boxes) on their own. Even though you'll never see these welds, I still want to make sure they're perfect: This isn't the final equipment, but you see what I'm hinting at:

So I've been thinking, and I've realized that subconsciously I've been building this: What I have here is a Lexus T800 (Cyberdyne Systems Model 101). What I wouldn't give as a kid watching those movies to be able to behold such an efficient invincible machine. This car is essentially my Terminator. It's got a nearly indestructible endoskeleton, a power plant that is capable of surviving a nuclear holocaust, very abbreviated features, a rough demeanor to say the least, and once it's completed there is very low likelihood if it being cosmetically repaired. Feel free to call me an idiot or stupid or whatever. I don't expect other people to understand, but for me the correlation is extremely important. It's been the deciding factor on a number of things ranging from how to paint the cage and material for the seat cover to the modifications to the engine and suspension. My way of building cars is different from most people - I envision what emotion I want the car to conjure when driving and looking at it and then build it around that rather than collect parts and figure it out as I go. ...Anyway, I've been making some progress on the project but haven't been taking many pictures, so here's an old one just to keep you entertained:

Exhaust restrictor to avoid boost spike

I suppose you could jam one of these in the exhaust to keep the VE down and reduce cut, but I'd suggest wiring it in. $120 woot

    Verossa Build

Don't deny it. My vote goes to something other than VIP style, but it's your car and you do what you like. In a perfect world, I'd see this thing on the ground, no aero and low offset wheels with flush face and a moderate pull, probably a dark dark blue or green.

    1j speed sensor

You pull the bulb and since your car is pre-OBDII nobody is the wiser at emissions testing.

OK, don't jack my thread. I've been busy helping the Q45 get sorted out and throwing a big drift event in St. Pete, but I did get some time to fuck with the steering a little on the car. I gained something like 10-12* of angle from chopping the steering arm which, on this car, holds the lower ball joint as well. The only interference I get is from the tie rod end hitting the lower shock mount. Think about that for a second and remember that this car is double wishbone... Lucky for me, the outer tie rods are also scalloped out to acomodate the wheel shell at full lock, meaning that it will probably be in my best interest to run stock outers rather than to go to a heim joint setup and then have to fuck with clearance on the firewall and front wheel tub.
