Just remembered I also need a new clutch disc to add to my huge list of parts.

Thinking about running this: http://store.driftmo...-act6240607.php
on my stock pressure plate.

Anyone see an issue with that or a better option that I maybe haven't come across yet?

The pressure plate is 90% of the holding power.
I would buy it before a fancy disk if I was hard prressed to buy both.

Weak cover with good disk, and it will still slip, only tear up the flywheel quicker.
Weak cover with one of the 3-puck metal disks, it will slip, and weld it's self to the flywheel.
Seen it more than a few times.
Don't scrimp on the cover.......

But, yes, nice disk

Damn, I was assuming that the stock pressure plate was adequate at least. Looks like the cheapest quality clutch kits start at about $450

I'd recommend a bully clutch stage 4. www.bullyclutch.com

never heard one bad thing about these other then they feel too light like a stock clutch even though they will still handle lot of power. they use a roller bearing system in the plate spring to make the clutch feel normal. they slip fine too for traffic. lots of people track these and they have great customer service. i've run bully clutches in 3 of my cars, stage 2 3 and 4 and they were all really great. call them for a real price.

Yeah, I bought my Fidanza flywheel from TH. Pretty good prices. Get a full kit. I'm happy with my SouthBend DXD. ACT stuff is overrated IMO.

Ps: all that hellaflush/Stanceworks/stancenation scene-ster shit is gay. They say it's a lifestyle, but so is homosexuality.

Looks like the SPEC's for a 1j start at about $430... Anyone have an opinion on this http://thmotorsports...3/i-165945.aspx

Doesn't specifically state it will work for a 1j but 7mgte and 1j clutches are interchangeable right?

The clutches between the 2 engines are the same, if they are both for the R154, or both for the W58.

Save up, get what you want.
I'll even send you an old fruit jar to put your $$ in.
Just remember, every beer, every joint, every hooker puts you back.

So, you can be a bus riding party monster, or wait for that until after your car is done.

I've had an Exedy Hyper Single in my 1J for about 3 yrs. I really like the pedal feel and engagement. It runs about $1k but that's flywheel, disc, and pressure plate. I hear you just have to replace the disc and maybe resurface the flywheel if it goes out.

That's what I was thinking. As long as it'll work on a 1j (it doesn't state w58 or r154 but I assume with 7mgte, they're thinking r154), I think that's what I'll go with.

The problem isn't having enough money to get a good clutch. The problem is I used to walk in to UpGarage and buy slightly used super singles for $150-$200. It bugs the shit out of me to pay $400+ for a standard style one. But that's 'Merica for you.

Have your friend walk into up garage and buy a super single, and then a new orc 409 disc for me, and ship it in the same box.

And nathan, before you say you have one for cheap, my disc has the same amount of meat as yours, and waaaaaayyyy less heat spots on the fly and plate

Shipping a clutch from Japan is not a fun or cheap task. And those new discs cost more there than they do here. That's why I always just shopped for used clutches with good life left and used them till they were gone and went and found another one.
