Oil Light2jz swap
Posted 15 February 2012 - 05:05 PM
I've had this damn 2jzge in my car for almost a year, and ever since the damn beginning, i cant get the oil light to go away. Its a sc ecu with the gs front sump, i don't know if its just the different oil level sensor being weird or what. I've got it wired backwards or so i think, because when i floor it or make a turn it turns off, unlike how it should turn on. I have switched the damn wires on the plug itself and then i don't get any response at all just light stays on all the time. and the stupid switch cant be upside down BECAUSE IT JUST CANT! I don't have any oil issues, i just want the light to work the right way.

In the cressida its a ground side switch. Unplugging it will make sure the light never comes on. Assuming that the 2j is the same way, unplug it and do see if the light doesnt come on. If it does, you have a short to ground.

here's a video, i get some feed back, its connected to the oil level floater. Connecting it to the pressure sensor just stays on at all times.

Disconnect the fucking floater.
Key on- engine off.
Unplug the 1 wire sending unit.
Does the light go off?
no? You have a short
Start the car. Light stays off? Good. Shut the car off.
Do a barrel roll.
Ground the wire going to the sending unit and the light should stay on all the time. If it doesn't, you have an intermittent issue. DIag as necc.
Verify that that the sending unit reads open between engine ground and the wire pin using an ohm meter. The spec for the switch is about 5psi. You can either figure out how to test the switch or just swap it out with a known good unit.
Start the car.
Congratulations - your motor has low oil pressure. Time for a 1j.
