Hey all, i have a 1990 Cressida with an AUTO tranny and I recently replaced the starter which was a bitch to install. Well anyways, I had to unplug two of the connectors that go to the transmission selector switch to get at the starter easier. After I installed the starter I reconnected everything and everything worked fine until I gave her a quick boot around the block. Suddenly my tach, dash warning lights, engine temp gauge, power windows, PWR button, and overdrive stopped working. I pull over and find out the 7.5A gauge fuse is blown. Hey no biggie, so I drove off and everything was fine. It blows again, and it keeps doing the same thing after I replace it with a new fuse. The lights that show the gear selection don't work either, and the car struggles to get into fourth gear (maybe cause the OD function is disabled?). Well whatever the fuck it is its annoying and I want this issue fixed. Tried some searching but came up with no answers. Help me guys.

Haha I like that idea Mo. I have an R154 waiting to be swapped in with my 1JZ; ill do all that shit next year. Just have to get the Cress running stock just for the winter coming up. But it seems like I have the problem sorted out. Thanks for the insight.

You realize getting it running 'stock' isn't going to happen, right. Ever.

The previous owner said the motor had a recent rebuild, but I can care less. Who the fuck rebuilds a shitty motor anyways. If the boat anchor blows (which it will soon) Ive got a 1JZ in my garage that will go right in.

Maybe it's a cultural thing? I mean, we saw the British coming. India, they did not.

LoL !
Your planing on doing an engine swap, and you couldn't even change a starter without fucking up something ?

This should be fun to watch !
By the way, I am pretty sure that a 1JZ has the same connectors on the starter that the big bad 7M does........

But here is a clue on how to solve your blowing fuze problem........
Find an on-line wiring diagram for the Cressida, or better yet, BUY one.
That way when you do your swap, and the tail lights don't work, at least you can look in the manual and find the problem without asking someone to hold your hand on a forum.

Oh, and you just may need to buy a VOM.
Kind of goes with checking electrical systems....

Last but not least,
Find a 50 amp fuze, stick it in where the 7.5 should go, and watch for what starts on fire first.
Good chance that is were the short was.
