okay, so I am about to go and pick up what I need for my W58 swap, here's the list:

W58
shifter assembly (boot, shifter, etc.)
clutch/brake MA70 pedals
clutch master, slave
clutch/flywheel (prob. a stock one, mated behind the STOCK 7M until it dies)
tranny mount bushings
9 inch pink bubble shift knob for those lonely nights

...now 2 parts I am not sure about
1. the driveshaft, should I pick up an MA70 front driveshaft, stick withh the MX83, use the MX83 output shaft from the tranny, or what? What did you guys use?
2. crossmember... use the MA70 one or the MX83 one?

...anything else I am missing?

i used the mx83 crossmember and the ma70 front half of the driveshaft. i just used longer bolts withh spacers to bring the drive shaft down a little bit.

you need the front half of the ma70 drive shaft and you use the mx83 crossmember. the ma70 crossmember is totally diffrent. but the tranny mounts are the same.
edit: do you have a diff in the car?? i want to know if you get any noises like i am getting. my diff is welded though.

no diff yet, I have an MA70 NA LSD sitting in the garage though, its going in as soon as I get the thing rebuilt and get the spacers for it.

...so the front half of the MA70 driveshaft, get MX83 mounts, and keep the MX83 crossmember?

the tranny mount from the ma70 will work but yeah, mx83 crossmember is needed. which you should already have because........... your putting the ma70 tranny into an mx83. o and read my shifter thing thread, your going to want to do that if the shifter is sloppy. http://jzxproject.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=534

a MKIII supra W58 fits perfectly, a Celica Supra W58 is alittle short.

just wondering, the clutch master needed is the a70 clutch master too? or just pedals. I tested out a ae95 corolla master but the wiper motor is right in the way.

i havent seen the ae95 mc but you'd think if you used a MA70 clutch pedal you'd need the MA70 master cylinder too since they bolt together. unless the ae95 master cylinder has the same bolt patern as the ma70...

the ae95 pedal assembly bolts up right to the holes(minus the top mount hole that holds the pedal up top which can just be welded on) but the resivior on the mc hits the wiper motor so it wont sit flush. i was tryin to verify that the a70 one bolts right up, im going to find out on my own in the junkyard i was just seeing if i could get a for sure on it before i spend my time figuring it out.

If you have a dremel or even a drill you will be ablt to tackle any fitmet issues withh the MA70 pedal and Master. And a grinder/sawsall if you wanna just cut down your pedal rather then changing to the Ma70 brake pedal too

one thing I am getting for sure is a 90 degree bit attachment for my dremel and another one for my cordless drill, that should take care of the clutch alignment. The clutch pedal has a small crack in the stopper brace so I get to do a little welding practice wink.gif

couple more issues:

1. keep the auto MX83 computer, or pick up a manual supra one?
2. speedo-- get a supra speedo cable, or keep the MX83 one?

What did you guys do?

I got the stock x83 cable to work on my W58, it took a little creativity but it worked. As for the ECU, it will run fine on the Auto and the only side effect that I am aware of is initial throttle responce when taking off in first, so I have heard, I have never really noticed any difference

i tink i have the regular ecu that came withh the car and i have no problems withh throttle response. there was a manual 7mge ecu laying in the trunk though. might be in the trash now. how did you hook up your speedo cable???
