The gear ratios are definitely different, that box also doesn't have a giant steel bearing retainer plate in the middle like the R154 making it a bit less beefy. IIRC the input shaft diameter and splines are different too so you'd need a custom clutch. It does have better synchros, but overall would change the feel of the car. I've seen a few on ebay for 500 and 600 dollars with 5000 miles on them. You might be able to pick one up, pull apart an R154 and that and put together a hybrid with R154 input shaft and gears but the newer synchros, all in an R154 case. Probably not worth the cost or headache though.
