Hi guys
Thought it was time to start a thread on the upcoming build.
I recently got hold of an unfinished 1uz Cressida for $1400 in QLD. I finally have the car safe and sound at home in Vic.

The car itself is in reasonable condition but the installation leaves much to be desired. At this stage I think I will be pulling everything out and starting from scratch. The engine mounts are what I would call scary.

Position of the motor is not exactly central or square. The shifter sits to the passenger side tilting away from the driver.

On the up side a set of extractors fit with plenty of room on the passenger side.

biggrin.gif Just get me that kit Rob, hahaha cool.gif

I have 260ish rwkw in the Commonwhore ATM, with isant enough to use 3rd in the clevage. Once i change the diff from 3.08 to 4.11 this will change. It would be nice to have more power than needed, i can always back off. biggrin.gif

Sounds like you got a really good deal on a nice gem that somebody didn't have the time/ability to finish.

Stick with the blown 1UZ imo.... bolt it up, and start that suspension fab work. I cant wait to see what you come up with. This thread is going to contain good content in the future.

Brake and hand brake Set up.

Jza80 tt Vented rotors Twin R33 Rear Calipers

The CNC'd Brackets used.

The Handbrake setup that i am working on is like this, but a different shape.

I plan on making the handle out of carbon tube and the body out of 6061 T6 Ali.

This is a Pull type AP Racing Master that i will be using. EX-NASCAR unit i got for $50AU

Side Profile of the setup

I will be using all braided lines as my drift car is sponsored by a Rapid Hose Hydraulics shop.

What are your thoughts?

At present my biggest decision is to decide if I am to keep with a 1uz (supercharged) or go 2jz-gte. I have both but cannot decide.

Here is a rundown of what I already have organised or in the works.
Engine
Option 1:
Supercharged 1uz, Wipple blower pushing 17psi stock internals, upgraded injectors, Adaptronic ECU 300 – 350rwkw, 1000rwnm
Option 2:
2jz-gte, at this stage I have a MK IV US spec supra 2jz, will have the required goodies to get the same power figures as above.
Gearbox / Clutch
At this stage I hope to run a T56 with a custom adaptor and a twin or triple plate clutch from Rush Imports.

ECU / Gauge Cluster

I am running an Adaptronic 420c ECU with a Vidi Gauge with a 17”wide screen and an Innovate LC1 Wide Band.

Body Kit
I am making the moulds for the group buy of the JZX81 Tezuka Spec kit. Demolition King front bar and Hippo Sleek Rear Bar and Side Skirts.

Ground Control:
Well this is where this project is going to get interesting. I plan on designing and making every part of the suspension from full weld in shocks to every arm.
This is where I am up to:

Steering Arms:
OEM

Ackerman reduced 20 mm shorter.

The shocks at this stage are going to be Drumond Motorsport shocks that are fully welded in, not a weld on sleeve but a complete assembly. The shocks are going to be inverted type, fully independently adjustable bump, rebound and height.
This is the insert.

The hub will be CNC’d with a weld in and gusseted boss that fits into the knuckle.

Once I have more I will post more pics.
I will be designing all arms, and they will be fully adjustable. More picks to come.

Thanks Mungface
Hope it works as well as i hope.

I was talking to one of my sponsors Rush Imports, and he has mentioned that he has a spare Holset HX35 Turbo.

This might be an option on the V8 or the 2jz.

Well the handbrake is at the most part done. smile.gif

Over the last couple of weeks I have been working on making an adjustable KPI (King Pin inclination) Cressida knuckle.

At full lock I aim to have near 0 deg dynamic neg camber. Combined with near 0deg Ackerman. BIG WIN! I want to have a play and see what I come up with.

I will put some photos up once I have been in the machine shop next week.

Cheers Adam

Rod ends are here! Complete set of ends to replace every arm and bush on the car!

Posted Image

The rest of the material for the arms will be here by Friday! :)

Making bushes so I can fit a 16mm spherical bearing to replace the rubber bush in the rear knuckel.

Posted Image

Will have pics of some of the arms next week.
