As most of us know by now the x7 3rd member grenades at 400whp or so. It has been discused and the solution was decided more or less that a JDM kouki gx71 rear end is what you need after a certain point. I've tried to purchase one but it'll run you over 1000usd shipped, and I can't read japanese but the are 2 different versions at least. And axle variations besides the obvious ratio/ lsd stuff.
the ony thing I can relate to is my friends with corollas constantly blowing their own stuff up. One solution found was to replace the toyota crush sleeve infont of the pinion with a solid piece and shim for pattern depth, this really make a huge differance for the turbo/1uz guys. Sounds great to me but has anyone ran across a off road company that offers this or similar part for the 7.5 diff?
the other "solution" I'm considering is cutting the whole center out of the rear crossmember and frankenstien some shit to work with a mkIII supra diff. The only reason I hesitate to do this is on a drift car I like to keep parts somewhat off the shelf, for quick
repairs and shit.
after blowing up my ring & pinion 2 events back to back I'm tired of this shit.

idk if your joking but, I have amkiv parts car I was taking measurments on lol, for real. Track width it so much greate though huge over fenders and shit would be required. To save money youd be better off cutting the whole rar floor outta a sc300/400 haha.
all the small rear mods I did fixed my camber issues I use the whole tire now and I'm tucking 18s (well when I run 235's) G's bushings, raptor racing rear camber tabs and new control arm bushings will change the car completly.

kaaz still makes a 2way lsd for the celica supra.
the also make it in the more expensive "better" superq or what ever its called.
Kinda pricey but around the same price that you said for the JDM one.
But ive heard these hold alot more power then OEM ones

Anyone know axle shaft lengths between x7 and x8? If you could manage to get an x8 or mk3 diff in, I'm guessing the only non "off the shelf" items would be th shafts, and from what I can tell, no one really breaks those unless shit isn't lined up right. Seems like everything else would be easy to source

I might wait till I can afford the precision 2 way or KAAZ before I completly rebuild one however I might install that pinion spacer and weld the shit outta a 4.30 rear I have. I'll be shure to let you know what's up.
kyle- well actually one gx71 8in rear used 6 bolts on the diff side, you can buy the axles roughly 75-150 a pair on yahoo jp, or get a friend in japan to buy you remanufactured ones, that or start trying to make a bastardization of a x7/x8 axle yourself, cv shafts and half shafts are pretty simple

haha yep i am serious already have the rear end dropped and out of the car, i still have the sc400 so i may just cut the rear end out! i want a big fuckin diff and I love the rear end setup on MKIV's. not 100% sure on the plan yet, but i'm going to find some way of sticking it up in the x7 rear. plus then I get 5 lug too! which i have in the front.

Buy an Eaton detroit truetrac and a Weir solid spacer for the 7.5", celicasupra guys run up to 700 horse through them before they start breaking ring gears and snap the gear ends off the pinion. The GX71 8" won't fit in an MX73, they use a completely different rear subframe and suspension. It's more like a MK3 supra than anything. You pretty much need a GX71 to make it work.

Suspension is same semi-trailing as X7 but with a Beefier Diff and driveshafts. .
