So yeah, vvti 2jzgte's have that drive by wire throttle bodys...

Replacing it with a normal throttle body and running throtle cable should be fine right? as long as its still has a tps to read off of?

In my case, im planning on running a knockoff Greddy intake plenum, a Q45 throttle body, stock ecu w. safc2

also read something where the dbw t/b controls idle instead of using a idle air control valve like the non vvti engine.

hmmm...

from what i could tell on the n/a vvt 2j in my old is300, it looked to me like there was 2 throttles, one was servo operated by ecu and one had the physical connection by throttle cable. the physical one would open with your foot, but the servo one just ahead of it would open when it god damned pleased to make a smooth opening (delayed response). i always thought you could just take off that servo operated butterfly (the plate) and leave the servo in with the shaft still turning but doing nothing to restrict the throttle opening, should work? not sure if the gte vvt is the same setup though. just a brainstorm. never got a chance to screw with it when i had the car.

So there's no iacv on there? I was gonna say jzx100 ecu or jzx100 powerFC, and an earlier throttle body.

You got the 2j vvti harness, right? Repin with proper ecu plugs, iirc mine came froma 99 es300. Was lookin at a gs vvti 2j and am pretty sure it'd be no problem to turn into vvti 1j harness...

Since on the DBW set up the TPS has been moved to the accelerator pedal, I'm sure you can wire up a cable operated throttle body to read the same signal off its TPS. The issue you might run into is when the computer requests action form the throttle body motor and the computer not receiving a signal back from it, the computer might throw a code and put itself into limp home mode and kill power. Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.

jzx100 ecu has different ecu plugs and its hard to find a jzx100 engne harness.

or should i just stick with the damn DBW throttle body/ intake?
