so i just put my 1j in my x8 and the shifter is sitting a couple inches to far forward. i have done a few 5 speed swaps on the x8 and have never had this issue, yet i have only used w58 for those swaps. the engine seems to be sitting in the bay perfectly. i bashed in the firewall for the twins piping and i smashed the tranny tunnel for like 2 hours. any ideas as to why my engine is sitting so far forward i cant figure it out. i am using mounts from xcessive and i have plenty of room for adjustment. im pulling it back out to check for all of my clearences if anyone has any other ideas of things i need to hit with this sledge.

i measured and it is about an inch further forward than it is supposed to be but it almost seems like a better location. i have a lot more room behind the head and around the bellhousing. I think i am going to leave it as is. has anyone else moved there engine forward at all? had to cut out a little bit inside the car for the shifter but that was the only thing i had to do to fit it.

yeah i have searched and have found plenty of idiots spitting many different ideas as to what they know willwork. i have found r154 in x8 is cressida whole driveshaft. i know thats not right. then i have heard either n/a or turbo mk3 will work and obviously not cuz my n/a front is a couple inches to short. i am pretty sure i need the turbo mk3 front half. i did searche im not trying to waste your time i just was looking for a solid answer. and since i am not using the adjustable mounts and set my tranny an inch further back i am going to run into some driveline issues. and i know the drivelines will mate i typed my question wrong before.lol i was just curious about the lenght of the front half.

mk3 r154 front with x8 carrier bearing and x8 rear shaft.

the fact that you are doing a proper swap allows me to forgive your pretty lame questions.

gluck with shit.

also, if you cannot find a front shaft for some reason, the cressida auto front shaft plugs into the R154 but needs to be made ~2" longer.

^ this by far is the best way. So much lighter and less parts to fail, wtf is people's problem ignoring this option?! Mine cost me $150, about the same or cheaper than sourcing some bullshit and having to rebuild it too. And if you read half that shit you "tried" searchimg for, you should've easily deduced that n/a (w58) goes w/ n/a(w58) half, turbo w/turbo (r154).

Your a fucking ass hat douche. WTF is the matter with you asking fucking questions that have been answered 10 yrs ago?! Seriously, WTF is wrong with fucking you?! What are you going to ask next, does a fucking door from a 89 Cressida fit on a 92? fucking newbs.

N fucking A is the fucking same fucking shit as fucking Turbo drive fucking shafts. There the fucking same! The fucking R and W gear boxes are the fucking same length fuck. If you would've done a proper search, you would've seen that shit son. Fuck.

Love,
Mo

The real reason is x81 mounts sit further forward. If you used flipped x90 mounts it would be dead center. x81 never came with r154+jz so toyota didnt make that location.

fwiw mine is like this too and I don't care/

Listen you stupid fucking pos. Don't tell me how long you've owned Cressidas because your 7 years barely puts a scratch in my 10 years and 15 Cressida ownership you pos. Your so stupid to fucking realize your using a fucking auto drive shaft you dumb fucking idiot. And if you were smart enough from the begining, you would've dropped the engine and trans, had everything lined up and make a one piece drive shaft which is the smart way of doing things. But you and your half ass work moaning and crying asking people to help you figure out how come your dirveshaft is too small. Sounds like you need extenze you dumb fucking noob.

7 years of owning Cressidas and claiming you've had 2 5spd swaps in your pieces of shits and now your crying because you can't figure out for the life of you why shit wont fit? I oughta gouge your eyes out and shove them up your ass. Maybe you'll be able to see better.
