So was out at a drift practice last week and having issues going from 3rd down to 2nd at the entry so just started to use 2nd gear to entry,

Then was at a lapping/time attack last night and on the back straight after 2 laps it wouldn't downshift from 3rd to 2nd at all till i showed the fuck down alot, even if my revs dropped it would still have to slow down

So on the drive home, now I was having issues downshifting aswell, I can upshift perfectly fine, go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th no issues, just downshifting

any ideas?

Syncros??

I've got less than 2 weeks till the first drift event, so i'm trying to figure out the issue, Think the rebuild kit off drift motion would solve the issue??

Any sounds when your downshifting ? like grinding. Also, Bleed your clutch slave and adjust your clutch peddle. Maybe your fluid is low or needs to be changed.

my guess is syncro based on the fact it is RPM related. if the fork was bent you wouldn't be able to get into 2nd at all.

doesn't really grind, it will clunk into gear tho when upshifting, but won't downshift,

transmission is already pulled and rebuild kit is on it's way from Driftmotion, express shipping, left Cali tues around 6pm and by 8am Wed it is in Calgary and should be here this afternoon or tomorrow I hope

Man, if I had seen this thread I woulda said throw some STP in that sumbitch and rock it out! Yeehaw NASCAR!

Seriously though, make sure you keep some good oil in those units. It makes a world of difference in their longevity.

Try floating the gears. Like brian says, its a syncro issue. When you downshift, rev the engine and get it in 2nd gear. Slowing down to downshift means your rpms matches the roadspeed for that gear.

I had this issue before, thought it was clutch hydralics or something, pretty sure the input bearing was toasted, never had any grinding EVER, but would be so hard to shift down from 3-2..It eventually got hard to upshift/downshift on a daily basis.

Ended up just buying a used tranny for $300, no problems since.
