Is swapping a jzx90 r154 with remote shifter tailhousing with a supra r154 tailhousing just a direct bolt on?
I know i saw a diagram from all data posted up here a month ago of how to swap them but i cant seem to find it anymore.

why are you switching?
I just put in a jzx90 transmission on my sister's cressida today.
In my opinion, the shifter location is much more natural and in a better position. it might not fit in the stock shifter hole but no big deal.
Just cut a new hole for the shifter, will save you time and headache.

Yeah, after doing some measuring I had come to the same conclusion. The only problem I see is the seat maybe being in the way of your elbow on quick shifts, but I imagine it'd just take some getting used to. I like being farther away from the steering wheel without having to reach for the shifter

IIRC on the jzx100 tranny the shifter sits about 4.5 inches back from the a70 location. Not sure on x90, but am guessing it's about the same. Why don't you go measure your shit and use deductive reasoning to figure out what you want to do. You're starting to sound like someone that needs their hand held and that doesn't go over well around this camp lil' lady.

keep that tranny! Gseventythree has it that way and a few others ...way better location and cheaper short shifter ($100 or less).
Also, I think ammeenit already tried swapping shit and failed. I don;t remember why though.

ChriSOL----starting shit here is like pissing into an ocean of piss. we live in it 24/7 and one more guy filling up the pool isn't going to matter much.

Yeah, i read the same thing about ameen. Swapped it and it was all fucked up.
the JZX90 shifter does not fuck with the interior pannels to much.
Here is G's car for example

Mine is in the same location. you can keep most of the interior trim.
If you like sitting far back, the shifter is perfect. Even if you dont like sitting too far back its in a perfect position. You wont have to reach for the shifter.

unless you're a midget, your arms still hit the stock seat regardless (I have a R154 out of a supra, with the shifter farther up, with short shifter, and i sit a little bit farther back). after putting a deep offset steering wheel on there, i felt that the rearward shifter position is the better choice overall if you plan to drive the sucker. supra 5 spd is great if you want a daily that has a perfectly centered console and oem look. otherwise it feels like trying to grab a gear off the console like some kinda rally car
early soarer tranny had a rearward position that didn't have the funky remote shifter assembly. which i think is ideal. but of course everyone doesn't sit in the same position
