So I get to Chicago last night to deliver Push his parts he bought from the junk yard while he was at my place. He picks me up in his Lexus ESCamry300 and were on our way. I mean, common sense, if a traffic light is turning red or your arriving at a stop sign, I always thought it's best if you start slowing down from a bit further away to save the unnecessary wear and tear on your car. Light turns red, and Push is still barreling at 60mph in a 45, slams his brakes and stops way past the white line. Uh, Push? lol.. Light turns green and were on our way down the road. I'm watching Push and I noticed this in CA when he was driving my car. Tunnel vision. I'm sure there's many of you on this forum guilty of tunnel vision, but its just friggin dangerous.

So we get to his house and he gets this wonderful idea to go for a death cruise in his cancer infested rusty 87 X7 auto. I'm really no pussy to when it comes riding in a vehicle with a driver with skills, but when your pushing a vehicle beyond its limits and its a total crap box, thats when I'm concerned for my life and the lives of others. This fucking cheese grater for a car has everything possibly wrong with it. There's foot ball sized rust holes, suspension ZIP TIED, yes I fucking said it, ZIP TIED!!! like plastic zipties used to hole wires together in an engine bay. The engine idles at 1,000 rpm, its out of tune, runs stupid rich but the sound is mean as fuck. The pacesetter headers and HKS fart car come in harmony on this car. Sadly, for a beautiful sounding machine, its a fucking shit box.

Were going full charge down neighborhood streets at 100mph with fairly bald donut-type tires, and then I notice this cold chill up my back and my arm. Fucking wind comming from right behind me! This thing has holes everywhere LOL. We hit a right turn and when I looked out my passenger side window, I couldn't see the ground anymore, just sky. I looked back towards Push and all I see is pavement. This thing has no suspension, just tube socks holding it together i guess. We came so close around the curb on my side that I actually lifted my leg off the ground thinking a fucking slab of concrete sidewalk was about to shatter the rusty floor board and get wedged up my ass.

Anyway, were just cruising on a straight-away and the car is bouncing on flat pavement like an old Cadiwack with blown shocks over speed bumps. I'm trying to talk Push into atleast getting a suspension on this car. No, not coil overs or lowering springs, I mean a suspension.. even a factory spec'd suspension.

His reply? "It's fine."

Push, your fucking balasts for your HID's are zip tied and are vibrating.

"It's fine"

You'll probably need a quart of oil in your engine..

"It's fine"

Push, your battery is wondering around under your hood.

"It's fine"

Push, we just caught air over the rail road tracks..

"It's fine"

Push, I think I'm dieing from carbon monoxide. You need to fix your exhaust leaks..

"It's fine"

Push, your driving like an idiot on these streets with a car with no suspension..

"It's fine"

Trust me folks, I aint making any of this up. You know what? Thats just a fraction of the story. My personal opinion is, don't give auto enthusiast a bad name. It's erratic driving like this that's getting law makers to write more stupid laws and trying to take our pride and joy away from us. Erratic driving is part of the reason why cops in CA can now take your cars to the crushers. It's erratic driving like this that gives cops full authority to go straight to popping your hood and busting our balls for having a cone filter, let alone an illegal engine swap. Shit like this gives cops the right to cite your or impound your vehicle in CA if a soda can can fit in your exhuast tip!! Really?! Stupid laws...

By no means, I'm not the worlds perfect driver and I have my fair shares of hooning and I'll kick it sideways every now and then, but fuck ppl, do it with class and away from sleeping neighborhoods. I'm sure there's an abandoned industrial area you can tear your shit up on without getting the general public to criticize us. It's just like truckers. One guy got wired up and drove 30hrs straight and killed a station wagon full of kids. Thanks to that one idiots big fuck up, all truckers are criticized and were getting to be put on electronic log books that track us via GPS and cutting our driving hrs a lot shorter. It takes one to fuck it up for everybody.

And Push? I really do love ya brotha but I'd hate to see your stupidity put an end to your life. 3 strikes and your out. You know what I mean. This goes to everyone one that reads this. If your time has come, I just hope it doesn't have to do with anything auto-related. And not that I endorse stupid driving, but please, if you can't access a fucking track, take the crazy driving to an empty street/parking lot/industrial area.

^ agree with that last part 100%, if your going to do it on the street take it away from neighborhoods and populated streets. There are times and places for these things.

Keep it at the track. There is no excuse to do otherwise. And if you are going to be a cunthole be smart about it and make sure you're the ONLY one at risk of anything, not some innocent bystander.

Word. It also helps avoid detection. Kind of a win win situation. Just don't camp out places and your chances go WAY UP.

LOL! I want to hear what Push has to say about this, after the obligatory "It's fine."

I have lost a couple friends to street racing, and they weren't even participating. An illegal in a DA teg tried to chase his friend up an on-ramp and pass on the shoulder... nu-uh. He bounced off and spun, hitting my friend's car sending it down an embankment killing her.

It's really not worth it to do this everytime you get behind the wheel. I can see finding a deserted backroad or waiting until the freeway empties out with zero traffic and nothing around to hurt but yourself... but I don't think stoplight racing or suburb togue even qualifies as enough fun to risk it.

Nobody is going to say that they haven't engaged in something that could get them a "contest of speed" ticket.

I think the crazy X7 death ride is part of a ritual for Push. Did the same thing when I was down there buying my X7....took me and another guy along for a white knuckle session of sliding through the suburbs.

That was after he did like....115mph on a freeway ramp in another car.

Tell that to us Portland dudes... Right now chances are we will NEVER have another drift event within 3.5+ hours again (except South Sound maybe, and what, 9 cars got totaled there last time? lol) since the rates at PIR jumped astronomically.

Streeting is fine, just be smart about it. Make sure there's minimal chance of pedestrians around. Areas where nobody is around, and it's 100% your fault if you're dumb enough to get caught by cops. My method is usually to have 3-5 spots lined up, and spend up to about 5 minutes at each one then move on to the next.

i love the faces people make when you oversteer a toyota highlander in front of them on the freeway, its one way to get people to stop being faggot tailgaters too. unplug a abs sensor for extra drift fun times.... this is all asumming your in a toyota highlander.

if your in a 91 toytoa pick up and your drivin past the local in and out burger then you kick the clutch, kinda helps a lot if its raining.

colt vista... then you pull the e brake.

but its fuckin on when i get my x8 running. ITS ONNNNNNN!!

and i hope were not talkin street racing hulk hogans son style... cause thats gay no skills rich kid shit

If you drift or Street rice in a deserted area where you and only you can get hurt then its ok. but in a populated area your just a dumbass.

I use to Street drift back in the old days, but the older i got the more i understand why its so much better at the track. At the track you dont have to worrie so much about getting caught, tickets or crashing. And on the track you have more of a learning opportunity or trying different techniques instead of hit and run style drift.

I learned more in one road course event than 8-10hours of street drifting spread out over three weeks.

Street time is still seat time.

I would like to get a couple autocrosses in this summer. They can help as well. I've got a buddy who autocrosses a 240, never done a drift event until last summer when he stepped in and just about linked the whole course his 2nd try.

Like mcfizzle said. There's no legal drifting within a 300 mile radius of portland. We has no choice. The cost of being a legal drifter from portland is about double what it costs anyone else.

Wanna go to evergreen and drift? Be prepared to shell out at least $400 in costs and hope nothing goes wrong.

Hence why P. Funatake and AJC are the ONLY "legal" drifters in all of Portland who get regular track time, by spending uber bazillions of dollars. Even dudes I know who have access to their parents bank accounts, and put their own paychecks into it can only do a handful of events every year.

doing any of that shit on the streets is stupid.. that being said its fun as shit.

So if you're going to be stupid, at least be smart about it. Do it in a safe place, away from neighborhoods, away from traffic, the law, and other hazards and at a time when no-one is going to be around.

this poll reminds me of latenight streetracing with slow cars racing down some haggard street lined with stupid kids for a block not realizing they could get creamed in an instant by one of the retard drivers. that is not good at all, you would have to be a complete moron to be there and actually think that's worth doing, even when people "win" it's just plain fail.

if we're talking about street "drifting" as in late night secluded business park, parkinglot, carpool areas, stuff like that. it's ok in my book if you're only risking getting busted and not endangering public, besides that, you're probably not going to actually be doing any worthwhile drifting other than a few little tailslides on a street with real possible traffic an blind corners etc.

lol, who needs ball joints or tie rod ends when zip-ties will suffice. The rust holes or 'speed holes,' are part of weight reduction, and it helps for flint stones acceleration and braking.
