First off I want to say that this was my first project car ever and I learned a lot, and I mean a lot. I first bought the car when I was 17 and decided to make it a project car to work on at home. Completely rebuilt the 5M and did a 5 spd. swap. All I knew was what I learned in auto tech in highschool and read on the internet so it took me about a year to do it all and it lasted me about 10 mins lol. But I wont go into that right now. I was pissed so the car sat for about a year and I paid no attention to it. Then I decided to do a 7M, did some research and found I could get one for about $1000, did some more research and found I could do a 1J for about $2000 or a little more, did some more research and found I could do a 2J for about $3000, so I said fuck it. GO BIG OR GO HOME! Took me forever to save up while working at uhaul and going to tech college for welding. Then got a job welding and that made it easier to save up but I was working 2nd shift, which sucked. Finally saved up enough and bought the front clip from a company in California. Basically I wanted a mad max style car lol. No looks just car and engine/drivetrain, eventually Im gonna put everything into a clean shell when I find one but for now I could care less how it looks.

I really should have taken more pics but I was concentrating on getting everything done. Car is tuned now and a lot of fun! Made 476hp and 414tq with the clutch slipping(fucking Spec clutches) on 93, my tuner estimates the car should be making somewhere around 500hp but we wont be exactly sure until I get a better clutch. 3rd gear = no traction lol. WOT in 4th is scary and I still havent tried 5th yet lol. Next up is True Trac, brakes, wheels, cage and Kirkey seats. I have some dyno vids that Ill up load tomorrow. Thanks for looking everyone.

I just copy/pasted from my original build thread on cs.com. As of now the car is sitting on stands again waiting for the new diff but now has built R154, ACT HD PP with a Feramic 6puck, 3in steel driveshaft with solid spicer u joints, hurst line lock to make burnouts at the strip easier and an Earls external oil cool mounted behind the honey comb grille. Once done it will be going back for a retune since it still runs a bit rich down low which causes it to bog at part throttle. All comments welcome. Thanks again for looking.

Edit:

This is one of the dyno runs when I first got it tuned <a href=" target="_blank">

On the way to lunch with the old drivetrain setup, you can hear the clutch let go real bad in 4th. This was like the 1st week of driving it after the tune. Slipping clutch just kept getting worse and worse to the point where it would let go at 5K rpm in 3rd :-/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgvUZ2j29vc...feature=channel

First startup with the new drivetrain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgvUZ2j29vc...feature=channel

Added a pic of the car

Thanks for the nice replies everyone. For the fan, according to permacool it pushes 3300cfm. The stock mk4 clutch fan is like 3400cfm I think, so I think it will be ok for now. But I haven't driven the car in the summer heat so I'm hoping for the best. Ranlet, I had everything held together with self tapping screws, and zipties, and gorilla tape but felt I should probably do it right the first time lol. Next up is tires and suspension. Most likely diamond racing wheels with nice tires for street use and welds/mt slicks for the track. Suspension I'm assuming will be a custom coilover setup like the ones I've seen on this board. I think it needs a nice coat of satin black too!

avoid the satin black.

My friend that lives in US showed me CraigsList while we search for my Cressida. You find lots of odd things on that site. Lots of fat US girls looking for a free ride from black basketball type American man.

this shit is mad uggs.

thread suggestion: remove all of the extra useless pics. everyone knows what an aristo front clip looks like. no one cares about 40 pics of useless bullshit.

car suggestion: remove engine. paint bay. remove fender flares, throw em in the trash. roll and smooth rear fender lips. swap to non flared front fenders and roll to fit wheels. if you "simply must" have flares, get some ZG style flares.

when are people gonna stop painting shitty old jap cars flat black. it doesnt look tough. it looks like youre broke. this goes for you too ranlet!

Ok I dont know what the fuck " mad uggs " means but whatever it means your entitled to your own opinion. How are the pics useless? They show that I actually did the work. If I posted a pic of the car when I bought and one of when it was done you'd prob say " I doubt you did the work, you prob paid a shop to do the work, blah blah blah" And Im most likely not going to do anything you said since I dont think it would fit the car. And reason for painting the car flat black is because I just had my extra hatch restored and is already has a coat of low gloss black on it. So having a faded blue car with a black hatch wouldnt exactly tickle my fancy. And Im not taking the time, effort, and money to paint the car the right way since sooner or later its going to be a full time track car. I dont care if it doesnt make the car look " tough" and I could care less if people think Im broke. And zg flares would look like shit on a MKII, but thats my opinion.

Little update on this. Did a MK3 MC and booster and made all braided lines for the front brakes and plumbed the line lock too.

New 3in driveshaft with spicer 1350 u-joints next to the old bent POS that Florida Powertrain made.

Posted Image

And got my diff back too. TrueTrac LSD, all new Toyota Bearings and seals,3.73 gears and a Weir Solid Pinion Spacer. Everything was cryoed except for the seals and the TrueTrac itself. Backlash is dead nuts and spins like butter! Big thans to Putty Mod Racing for putting it together for me. FYI: Im using 16oz of Amsoil SAE 250 and filling the rest with Amsoil 75W-140, this is what my diff guy told me to use and its holding up real good.

Posted Image

Once everything was broken in and running good. I went down to west palm beach for some more tuning. It was mostly for driveability since we werent able to get to that that last time I was down there. All the super rich spots are gone and now when cruising my a/f's are around 14-15.1 instead of the 11.1 that it was before. I couldnt resist upping the boost a bit while I was there lol. At the end of the day it made 522hp/435tq uncorrected at about 20-21psi. I was hoping it would make more but my small hotside and 3in downpipe are restricing me. I will be upgrading to a BEP s366 with a .91 a/r and 4in DP with a cutout and a better intercooler since the IAT's were hitting 120degrees by 7k rpm, but all that wont be here for a while. The car is a complete blast to drive and completely catches people off guard. Before anyone says anything YES I KNOW I NEED SUSPENSION! Suspension, Wheels/Tires and a cage are next. Anyways onto some vids:

If you look at the bottom of the tool cart behind my car you can see a reflection of flames shooting out of my muffler lol

I know some people were asking about the TrueTrac so Ill give my input. I dont know for sure how much power this diff will hold. As it sits now I dont think there is anything else that can be done to it to make it stronger. Leaving a light and going WOT lights up the rear tires through 1st,2nd and some around 6k in 3rd gear. I have yet to launch on this rear or even do a burnout for that matter so Im not sure how it will do when the time comes. Doing u-turns the car will get sideways with little effort. Im most likely not going to be drifting/sliding this car since I built it to be straight line car, mostly drag and some highway racing so I cant relate to everyone here. But I will mess around in some deserted lots/streets and see how it holds up and let you guys know.

Im going to be doing some research for suspension now. So while Im doing that, anyone have any suggestions on what suspension to go with?

Did you put in a solid pinion spacer with your trutrac? if not, I would pull it apart and put one in before you abuse it too much, all of my 7.5 inch diff failures have been caused by the crush sleeve collapsing.

Yeah I have the weir solid pinion spacer. My diff guy recommended that he make me a solid one machined to exact specs instead of the weir spacer since it uses shims but I wanted to see how the weir spacer holds up. Plus for him to machine me a solid piece would've been $200 more.
