i just got jzx90 1jz with a r154 that iam planing on putting into my 1992 cressida and just wanted to make sure i dont run into to many bumps when i do the swap.

Is there only suppose to be 2 plugs into the ecu?

Will this R154 shifter be in the right location or will it sit to far back? if not how to do i got about making it work?

The best thing to do would be to sell that shit to someone that knows how to utilize search functions.

no, you will need some of the pins on the other 2 plugs. go get some.

yes that shifter location will work fine, you'll see.

I don't know about that shifter working fine. It's the extended housing for Chaser. At least in my car, the one that lined up was a MKIII supra setup that did not hang over the output of the transmission that far. Just take a measurement from the end of the bellhousing to the center of the shifter, and make sure you have no more than 2 inches going forward past the fire wall.

it works fine. your shifter will just be further back and you might have to cut a hole for the shifter.

yes as bill says, it will work. it's all preference. after having a A70 R154 in my car for ages, i would prefer the shifter to be a little farther back. but supra tranny is awesome for ease of installation. thing pokes up right smack in the middle of the hole. put a boot on it, looks like stock. no new hole cutting, etc.

iirc the newer r154 transmissions all shift a little nicer. you can swap out the tail housing if you really wanted to...but the extended housing puts the shifter in a more natural location. im pumped that my shifter is dead center in the hole, but sometimes it feels a little far reaching to 5th. my shitty "short shifter" doesnt help either.

the plugs can come off an avalon. next time youre in the junk yard get to cutting up ecu plugs. take as many as you can find. they should all be about $free.fiddyfree.
