Uh oh, A bit of bad news for enthusiasts in Canada. The province of Quebec has banned the importation of registration of right hand drive vehicles over unspecified "safety issues", a move which will no doubt be a big blow to the Japanese car scene in Canada.

At the time the ban is just for Quebec, but there are worries the movement could spend to the rest of the country.

Maybe it's time for some organized opposition, just as SEMA has helped the hobbyist countless times here in the states?

Not surprising. But will the rest of Canada follow suit? Discuss.

hahaha. quebecers are not really french, not really english.. it's a grey area language thing and some of them try hard to push their version of french on the rest of us which just causes tension. i don't have a problem with quebec, i just don't like french language nazis.

^theoretically yes. All current registered owners will be grandfathered in. Don't know why anyone would want to go to/live in quebec though.

They instituted a temp ban about 6 months ago until they could decide what to do long term, now it's been passed into law. I've been meaning to head down to Montreal to check out all the JDM shops, look for some wheels, maybe some other parts and you never know, maybe I'll pick up a JZA80 for a couple grand.

Bill and Matt I don't live in Quebec. We live in Ontario. The Canadian version of Sandiego except there's more snow and we have French people instead of Mexicans. We're right on the border to Quebexico.

As much as the non-privatized insurance sucks in BC, at least I know I can walk into any place at any time and not get deny'd, worry about prices, etc...


Huckersideways, there's no ban on RHD in BC. And I work for Feast Auto Group..I live in White Rock, but Adam is out of Yokohama.
