well i'm yanking this one since it's installed on a heavy stainless steel pipe to the TB (on the 1J) which i'm re-doing with all new piping. i'm modifying the pipe and throwing it on the 7MBHGTE supra that got it's bov stolen
so back to the question, what do you guys run? i don't care about sound or recirculation. just needs to be dead on reliable and handle up to 24psi or so of boost. response is good too. the old ssqv i had was set tight and i liked it. unfortunately you can't buy them anymore.
any suggestions? what do you guys run on your track cars?
i was thinking i might just go with another SSQV, and if i don't like it i'll switch back to my old one with a new flange.

I'm running 14psi and it works well, one of my friends has one on his car and is running 21psi problem free so I don't see an extra 3 psi being an issue.

I have the SSQV on my car, but mostly because I picked it up for $26. It's starting to get to be a little much, but I still like the HKS stuff.

i finally found some good images in reference to what he meant. see'em here
i haven't had one in my hands or seen one in person so i can't really say from experience, but supposedly a friend of a friend had one installed and it failed repeatedly. but if the one hiro ran on his jzx90 was indeed the same unit, it's seen far more abuse than a swapped A70 that sees street duty only... catch my drift?
anyways, i also like the idea of the synapse bov's but it's just a lot of shit going on for just being a bov. 3 ports and spring adjustment. needs positive boost pressure to stay closed above 7psi. so you need a minimum of at least two lines, one for vacuum and one for boost.
mark, which greddy's you run? type r?

On my other cars with steel wheel turbos they are all blocked off or removed.

It doesn't get any better than a TiAL, you guys can have this discussion all day, but at the end of the day, the TiAL will still work the best, and continue to do so for a longer period of time than any of your new fad BOVs or your JDM shit.
The only reason I could see someone not liking a TiAL is if they did not use the correct spring pressure in the BOV. Yes, the are interchangeable, and yes there is a correct spring pressure for your car, which may not actually come in the BOV when you buy it.
Bovs aren't and accessory, they are a necessary piece of a turbocharged system. Anyone who doesn't run one on a street car is an idiot.
If I coudn't run a TiAL for some reason, I would run an SQV, and if I couldn't get that, I'd track down an old greddy type S, because the diaphram doesn't suck in those like the newer RS version. Everything else, is stupid.

I would never call any one idiot for not running a BOV unless they are using turbos with a ceramic wheel. I time attack my cars as much as I can and prefer the no lag in between shifts. I have never had any issues. Sure it causes extra wear on the turbo but that is not really a concern to me.

bov discussions usually are pretty biased (myself included as i've only used a ssqv on my personal car) which is why i asked for those guys who run them on the track. i've put the big ssqv racing valves on big hp supras back at the shop before, but never really got to get a good feel for them under hard boost, street driving, etc. but being that it's a single valve designed to handle up to 3 bar, it's probably a little overkill for my setup. it does have an adjustment screw though
some of the big dog supra guys complain about the ssqv racing valve saying it doesn't open when it's supposed to, but it's because they're running two of them when they only need one. it flutters because there isn't enough flow to keep both valves open.
here's a greddy type s on a buddy's car. flutters quite a bit. built 7M turbonetics 60trim CT26. i installed an HKS actuator on this turbo to increase boost. in the vids it's running about 16-18psi
sounds almost like my single did without blow off valve. he has a type r now though

I was running one worked great.. with that said this had been my only turbo experience so I can't really compared. Why's it bad?
