It is time to lay down my plans at a place that will appreciate them. A lot of you know me and most don't but I have wanted to have a 4 door drift car for years. Building a Cressida will be the first time I have built something that has any real big following. I have always stayed away from popular cars and it has worked out sometimes but more often has left me broke and pissed. Now I just want to drive finally and the Cressida band-wagon is getting bigger but they serve tea and crumpets on that wagon compared to bubble tea and nig-macs. I have been driving for almost 5 years now and have still never driven an S13. Maybe that will shed some light on my priorities.

Now to the car: 1989 Toyota Cressida no Sun-roof, no ABS, Cloth interior, Smashed up front= $200

This car will be getting an Aristo 2jz-gte with an R-154 behind it, all of which I already have so this won't be some boring fuckin "my cars gonna be sick one day" fest.

I am currently prepping the car at work and saving up for the last few stupid things I need....... Which are:

MK3 pedal/hydraulics
Throw-out bearing
Power steering line
Driveshaft modified
Weld the diff
Drill and tap my intake manifold for brake booster (thanks Aristo)
Intercooler and couplers/t-bolts
2jz water pump (mine came hydro-fan) Duh!

....... and that should be it. I know, close right?

All of this was originally slated for my 929. I had the engine in and mounted with tranny at one point but my motor mounts were gay and probably would have broke. I also would need to re-wire the entire car and do a lot of weird shit to the power-steering and blah blah blah. So, I decided to get a cress and get out there to drive. I am still going to build the 929 and plans are to still drop the 2jz in it once the car is ready, but it may still end up getting 3(+) rotor NA treatment just to be an ass.

I will get some more pictures up soon of all the shit I have for my car and in like 2 weeks Mark, Mitch, Lucas and I are gonna bang the swap out in like a day (hopefully, there's always snags) and we all can have fun right?

I am still having way too much fun with my heater controls................. I like Toyota.

I'm sure I will need some and a lot more crap, but all the big stuff is already to go as you know. Do you remember Oil Filter services prices on something that would mimic DM's power steering line? I figure it would be cheaper and done in a day if I went with them.

dont you love how all the "little stuff" adds up to like $500+/-...

btw i thank you in advance for avoiding the "mycarsgonnabesickoneday" fest.

get that motor in already. leave the 929 alone. give it the old "stock engine with a 5sp slammed and wheels = done". with a 3+rotor, youre looking at a TON of cash upfront. it sounds awesome so maybe thats a "one day ill..." kinda thing. dont get yourself sidetracked though. ive got 2 projects PLUS a daily and it sucks you dry. mentally physically and dollarly too.

For sure, the 929 is gonna sit sit sit. I might go grab a dual cam v6 that they came with and 5-speed that, but it still would be better if I just bought another 2j down the line........... and anything with this car is going to be down the line. Doing an EZ harness for the chassis and all that other shit will be like fun little weekend projects. As far as the rotary is concerned, I used to work at Pineapple so cost will be down........ a little. Still looking at maybe $6k for a strong P-port 3 rotor so obviously it's not even in my mind.

Thanks for all the kind words and I love you too Mark wink.gif

Fuckin agreed. every fuckin time I go into reverse it grinds and the shift quality is for shit and I have a C's short throw too.

I've always wondered why nobody has built a 929. Always heard the 13B "drops in" but who knows.

Anyways. Welcome & good luck.

Yes they do. Those things came with like 6 different engines over there including a 2.0L V6 turbo! I had a 13b turbo in mine for a while then I found out it was blown (go figure). They come factory 5-speed here in the states as well. I have all my clutch pedals and hydraulic crap for it already installed. They use a turbo II transmission which you can change bellhousings and input shafts very easily to use them from vehicle to vehicle. I decided to go JZ because of costs of rotary parts.

Dan (friend) ported a motor for Tony Angelo and in return we got some really nice new parts from Mazda, but I still needed like $2300 to finish the motor. I bought my 2jz, r154, jzx100-bellhousing for $2300 and it has a way better chance of survival than a rotary and I should have a good amount over 300 to the wheels starting out.................. oh yeah, and torque!

929's are awesome and I still like them better than X chassis, but only for a few small silly reasons. Like the fact that my 929 already has coilovers and chrome door handles and can fit 11" wide wheels in the rear with a fender roll/pull.

JDM Rotary LUCE (929)

Engine Bay

My chassis- 1988, non-abs, completely stripped

Korea! They used my chassis until 2002 there sold as a Kia Potentia, this is the front end over there

The chassis code of a rotary 929 is HC3S, like FC3S... so natural progression is HD

And then there's my dream car, the biggest production saloon in Japan for several years....... the HE

Sorry for all the pictures but I felt like shedding some light. I've kept a lot of this a secret as much as I could but who cares now.

Kei Office, JIC, and Tein all make coilovers for HD's. And obviously there is air-bag suspension for them. The HD follows the FD a lot, as the HC follows the FC. HD's are huge. They have a 112" wheel base and a pretty nice turning radius. Some came with Torsen diffs and AUS and NZ guys do a lot to them. The problem I found with them is the fire wall on "our" driver side does not give enough room to bolt a clutch master in so willwood pedals would have to be used. I would eventually like to do something with one of these and there are plenty around, just trying to figure out a power plant is what would make me not interested. My patience for that kind of thing is dwindling. The do come with a dual-cam 3.0L V6 so I guess that would be cool enough for a VIP setup but I would probably just throw a 2J in it. The seem to be the new duct tape.

Just some quick info. Last night I put some FD3S wheels on the back and they fit great. They look like they would almost be perfect flush but lowering may cause some tuck do to camber. These wheels are a 16X8 +50mm (gross) but it seems to work. Just thought it would be another good option for drift spares compared to Supra wheels. I will post pics in a little bit.
