Summit is the cheapest from what I've seen for ATI. I'd just get that and be done with it.

1j and 2j are the same. I have a knock off aluminum pulley. a year so far and no problems. but I'm sure a ATI would be better.

only difference is one is under driven. I would recommend the under driven pulley if you are using a 2j pump as they cause cavitation at high rpm but the hydro pump doesn't as bad.

my buddy has been running a undampened aluminum pulley on a 430whp 1j supra with no issues. the jza80 we have that made 590whp on pump gas has been running an unorthodox undampened pulley all its daily driven life as well.

if you get an ati, they are known to be a BITCH to put on. some people shave it a little to slide on. if you do do that, don't take off too much or the pulley will be too loose.

From what I've read from some Supra owners, it was suggested to simply heat the pulley up a bit and then it slides right on easily with a few taps from a mallet.

yes there's that too, but i've tried with a propane torch for 25 min or so with no luck. may be there was corrosion on the crankshaft, i dunno. i haven't attempted to use anything hotter since i was afraid of fucking up the insides of the damper. we DID get one on without heating or shaving, but that took quite a few good long hits with a big 3/4" impact gun.

has anyone else noticed that the stock 1jz harmonic balancer pully comes in contact with the stock mx83 sway bar when the car is lifted of the ground. it just barley hits but that can't be good. i would think that if you drove over the right/wrong kind of bump and you get a little air and smack your sway bar into your crank pully and that could be disasterours, right. the stock harmonic balancer on my 1jz vvti looks like its got a larger diameter than the ATI does, a solid non dampend underdriven one sounds like riskey bussiness since "they" say it can cause resonance which can lead to crankshaft failure.... but the price is right on those undampend . i would like to get one of those austrailian ross metal jacket pullies or an ati but damn they expensive.

That's cause your using x90 mounts reversed. I had the same problem and just switched to X8 mounts. To correct the problem, buy Gerards mounts and move the engine back 5'8's of an inch.

car is an 89. i have a largus sway bar too(not installed yet)... so thats either gonna make the problem worse or better... probably worse:/ this sux.. i guess im not gonna be doing any jumps in my cressida. but i would seriously love to see the pully not touch the sway bar when the wheels are off the ground. it just barely touches but its not cool and i think its because the oem toyota harmonic balancer looks like its the size of a frisbee golf disc. i got in contact with the aussie company , ross. they make the metal jacket ones earlier in this thread... they look sweet.
