Other titles for this thread that I considered...
"Project: Better than Keith's"
"Recyclematic"
"Project: Trash Can"
"How to make a Cressida even less cool."
"4 does fo no hoes"
"Slowly going the way of white trash"

This is actually a story about 2 cars, so I will start withh this piece of shit.
86na, paid $500 for it. It became well worth it in one night.

http://www.youtube.com/v/f7Q_zWakXOM&hl=en&fs=1

[SYNOPSIS]
Street drifting during ice storm. What is that antifreeze smell? Hit curb hard. Suspension tucks under like the delorean from Back to the Future. The rusty frame just crumbled into dust. Heater core decides to litterally EXPLODE all over Simba's legs. Simba tries to exit the vehicle mid drift. We drive back to my house withh windows down and t-tops off in -15* weather withh steam POURING out of the cabin. Great fucking night.

So I was left withh this dead dog withh a willing low-millage VG30 and 71C trans. I stripped everything worthy off it and sent the shell to the crusher (which paid me $400). Then I happened upon this thing for $600.

And after a lot of work freshing up the VG short block, cleaning, painting, polishing, throwing half of it away...

86na powertrain
-All New gaskets and seals, water pump, T-stat, Timing belt & tensioner
-Powdercoating by CM Werks
-T3/T4 Exh stage 2 .82 A/R
-Turbo will be remote mounted in battery tray similar to :driftworks:
-modded turbo LH mani withh 38mm Tial on it similar to the blue car but not divided.
-Big China front mount
-Maxima radiator fans
-Morgan cam sprockets
-Scneider Cams, 440/420, 270/262
-My old Crane HI6R ignition box and coil
-Microtech left over from blue car
-Old harness for Microtech ready to go
-RB20DET 550cc top feeds
-Gloria front sump oil pan
-Gutted Maxima plenum withh shaved EGR port
-Reversed fuel rail
-Stanza KA throttle withh TPS
-Fidanza flywheel
-ACT pressure plate withh DXD Stage 3 disc
-Electric 3" exhaust cutout withh swithch and harness

All of that stuff was cheap second hand items, or shit I had laying around. So why not try to build a car out of it?

VG takes up 2/3 of a shit 7M.

It's incredible how well it fits in there. I had Push withh me and he was giggling the whole time. No hammering of anything, shifter lines up just right...nice. I bet I could even swap the Z output flange onto the cressida driveshaft and it would work. I want 1 piece though. Need to finish fabbing the motor mounts so I can get it running.

Wow, you really can polish a turd. Badass. It is always cool to see something diffrent being done.
Also, wouldn't you want to push the motor further back or you just don't care? I know you would probably have to make a custom oil pan or cut and mod the cross member? I could of put the sr further back by about 2 inches but would of had to cut the cross member and notch it. I left it withh about 3" of clearance from the fire wall so if I ever have to change a clutch or trans it would be easier. I still have enough room between the motor and rad that I stand in the engine bay when changing spark plugs.

Excellent work! Never heard of a VG30 in a X-chassis.

I really like the stock color on the X8 you picked up. Reminds me of the Nissan silver moss color.

It is all the way back. It just looks like it isn't because of how far forward the maxima plenum bolts up. The exhaust crosspipe is 1/2" from the firewall and the tial is stabbing into the fire blanket.

I suppose if you got crazy withh the exhaust, like the Satan manifolds that mount in front of the engine, you could use the stock rear sump pan and gain another 4" laugh.gif to push it back. But I didn't want to screw around withh the shifter position.

yeah, I guess if you are just going to street it then it is fine. I could see the exhaust was in the way but figured you would change that if you wanted to move it back. How much do you think this whole set up weighs compaired to the 7m and auto? The weight balance would probably be pretty insane if you did infact move the motor back more though if it was intended for road racing/track use.
What are you actual intentions withh this car? I ask because your Z was freakin amazing. I think it would be awesome to see someone withh your skills and mindset build one of these cars into a strictly track road race car.
And is there anyway to reverse the plenum so that the throttle body is at the back of the motor? Might have hood clearance issues? But you'll probably solve that withh some crazy awesome sheet metal work on the hood.

This is now a running car, but not technically "alive" until the turbo is on.
Couple issues...

I have the ignition B+ for the Microtech running off IG S/W (Pin#2 from the 22pin ECU connector). Works fine until I turn the ignition from on then off, then it starts pulsing 7V once per second to this wire with the key off, which causes Microtech to turn off and on all night long. Something to do with antitheft? I don't get it.

I have the EFI and the circuit opening relays jumped. Fuel pump runs constantly even though I removed the fuel pump resistor. At least, I think I did. It's a finned thing on the passenger side strut tower, but mine has G-B and B-R wires running to it instead of G-B and L-R.

I managed to shatter my windshield with the hood and took 4hours to mount my battery, but at least I can go to sleep tonight knowing I don't have a dead Microtech.
